power feeding large boards on a jointer

- Using a power feeder on the jointer greatly reduces your need to push down and slide the wood. Which when doing large boards become almost impossible without other people helping. If the power feeder had better serrated wheels it would more than likely eliminate the need for pushing and only really needs to be guided.
I've got a double sided planer I'm putting a power feed on just to aid in the feeding process....with my set up it will still flatten typ as I won't have the feeder pushing down very hard

Some Felder machines have an optional mounting bracket. But in the past I have drilled and tapped holes directly in the casting.

@timon1113 No, my other jointer had an edge of cast on each side of the outfield table it was about 3/4 of an inch wide just enough to get 2 bolts of the power feeder base.
Would you mind taking a picture of it for me?
If I understand correctly you only have 2 of the 4 bolts holding it in?

If you have such a model I would suggest mounting a large piece of angle iron to the side face of the casting that holds the tables in place. Maybe you send me your jointer make and model and I can maybe suggest an Idea or perhaps your machine company has a preferred method@@timon1113

Why you are using a power feeder and then you are pushing the board too. Don't you should adjust the power feeder lower so it can track down better?
When I made the video I could have done better on setup, such as waxing bed, aligning feeder to the upright fence and perhaps a little more pinch between feeder and table. That being said the board weighed 120 lbs. Normally in a planer the infeed rollers are serrated and full width and really get a good grip. This power feeder only has smooth rubber wheels 2 inch wide so you see them spinning when it cannot overcome the mass of the board. Since the board is rough and long it overhangs the infeed table and sometime hangs up at the front of the table.
If you ever tried to joint a ten or twelve foot 20”wide board by yourself you will find it very difficult to apply downward pressure while try to push it forward. It’s a two to three man job.

Постоянно пользуюсь автоподачей на фуганке. Даже с меньшими по размеру досками ролики проскальзывают и нужно подталкивать доску. Но главное они отлично прижимают доску к принимающему столу, это сильно облегчает работу.

It took 35 plus years of doing with those paddles to afford the power feeder and larger jointer.
How straight was the board before you put it through the jointer? Did you joint the slab before hand to get it relatively flat?
Did the whole board just on the jointer, no hand plane
Large boards like this typically have a 1/8 to1/4 hump in the middle width and a slight twist in the length.
When dealing with a crown I position power feeder wheels directly over that section and use a wedge on one side to keep it balanced then once it gets onto the outfeed table and feeder it normally stays in that position for the whole length.
Other ways are to go for a maximum depth cut and place leading edge of board on outfeed table to remove long bend.
