I subbed to Sticky for awhile, stopped about a month ago. He, and his wife, seem to be focused on clicks and controversy over comics and the industry. Not for me. I get he's being sarcastic, but he just comes off as annoying and creating drama that does not exist. His channel is the "Bravo" of comics. I doubt he's learned a lesson, his defense was cringy. Thank you Allan for being true to you, it's great, don't change. Being authentic and role modeling it should be celebrated more than the trolls.
I watched a few Sticky Goose Videos. Not my style. Far too much complaining and negativity over there. He literally made an entire video complaining that he got no compensation for showcasing a collector's comic book collection for sale. Dude, people still do nice things out of generosity, if I saw a mega-collection filled with grails, I'd be happy to showcase it if I was hosting a channel, or if you wanted something in return, then ask for it before hand.
His video was not laughing at friends. It was making fun of people for enjoying being part of the comic community. It was done in poor taste. The whole nonsense about it being a "roast" only came after youtube whacked him with a strike for bullying. He wasn't trying to grow those channels. He didn't direct anyone to those channels or give any links where people could find them. It was him being an asshole.
Nice commentary! Sticky's channel really suffers, in my opinion, from the fact that he doesn't seem terribly enthusiastic about comic books as a medium and art form. The hobby seems more like a potential business for him rather than a labor of love. But what do I know? I'm a sticker person :)
Sticky Goose did mention some channels I wasn’t aware existed. Many times I learned of a channel from watching someone else. Sticky Goose has his own approach to his channel as well as others. Some like to speculate on what’s the next hot comics, others talk about older comics that have value and others simply discuss comics they love regardless of value. This is what makes this hobby vibrant and refreshing.
My mother taught me when I was very young if you don't have something nice to say about somebody don't say anything at all. Your channel and most other channels are positive, funny, entertaining, and informative. Even at my older age I am inspired by many younger people. After being a teacher for close to 33 years I look for the good in people and try to take them to a higher place in their development. Excellent video. A man can act with decency and respect or he can be a butthead.
I checked out Sticky Goose's channel and "no thank you". He spends way too much time criticizing other comic channels. When you look at the most successful comic channels on youtube, none of them do this. The online comic book community is a small community, and we should all support one another and just have fun talking about comics. I find that guy to just be weird and repulsive. Anway, I just subscribed to you. I really don't care to subscribe to him.

Well said, I think your take on what he was trying to do is spot on. I never got to see the video before it was taken down so I don't know the tone of it, but if you roast total strangers you have to expect there will be some upset so it seems like intentional pot-stirring.
That sticky goose knows exactly what he's doing to get views. It will backfire on him, for the small amount of money he's making from his channel. I'm of the opinion that people who indulge heavily in internet drama have never experienced any real conflict or strife in their real life, so they seek it out online. Just a theory.

SG had previous videos roasting channels which was funny and like you described... this last video was weird... his wife commented on the physical appearance of difference comic RUclipsrs that she's never seen. kinda made her seem cruel to strangers to be honest...

Allan, I like your take on this. As a fellow small channel, I thought his roast was good promotional material for smaller channels on the video. But with what happened it ended up being publicity for him. It’s all the community are talking about, you as a content creator have recognised this, hence this video. Sticky Goose has found a niche in the market. I, like you find his videos entertaining. I don’t always agree with everything. But it seems people who don’t like his content will watch anyway. So who’s winning? He is.

I am close to absolutely zero comic collectors in my city, it's one reason I watch many of the channels...As for the subject here, it is definitely interesting to see how different creators navigate RUclips "success". You certainly see the gamut of approaches. Nuff said. 🤪
I totally agree with your take, Allan. A lot of channels get so big their main focus becomes chasing solely the almighty dollar, and they will sell their soul and will do whatever it takes for views. They lose sight of the love and passion for comic book collecting!

The S.G. Channel is a total troll channel. You can tell he his a fairly new collector, who doesn’t have a clear opinion on anything. One week he loves slabs, next week he hates slabs. Slab become the devil for him. Then he searches online for comments or articles who agree with his current opinion. He is the Rodney Dangerfeild of the comic RUclips space.
Great video, CCG. I think Sticky Goose is a talented presenter with clever takes. I also think that he is intentionally creating a "heel" type character. That said, I am trying to avoid drama-style, negative videos. Like you, I think of comic books as a joyful escape. I enjoy learning about comic books and their history...and meeting some awesome friends along the way. That's not everybody's style and that's fine. I loved your point about being an advocate for free speech.
Every channel can’t be the same. That’s the joy of enjoying different CC’s for different things. It’s a very diverse community, Sticky has found his niche that revolves around him being perceived as the “villain”. He has a few misses but I enjoy the satire.

I think you nailed this one -- people talking is always positive for the other person's channel, guys make fun of other guys, and people do roast their friends and some get upset about it.
Sticky Goose has only helped out the comic book community here on RUclips and is absolutely correct on people just liking the drama, people don’t care about comics
I think the part that he was missing was that when you are trolling or roasting your friends they actually have to be your friends in the first place. If someone doesn't know you and he is talking about you in some of the ways that he has talked about other channels then I can see where some individuals might be offended. Ultimately I think his content is more for the purposes of click bait than anything else and not to provide anything useful or positive to the community.
Some of the stuff he says wasn't all lies. So sometimes the truths hurts but he said it in a fun way. Also his content is pretty good too, not all but some was.
Video popped up in my feed for some reason and I decided to comment on the title and not watch the video. The comic community shouldn’t be paying attention to the drama, and instead we should be focusing on comics and collecting. Save the drama for the Kardashians.
As long you realise Comics are not a investment then you’re good. In 30 years comics will be worth less. Youth nowadays do not collect or are interested in comics.

Sticky Goose is a super strange guy, but he's figured out that people will watch negative titled videos. He didn't say it in a playful way. It's just the way he is....creepy and weird.
Maybe the roast by StickyG was a feeble attempt to dissuade viewers from checking out those channels? And he hoped viewers would migrate away from them to his stream? I dunno. I didn't like his video… skipped through much of it once I got the gist. I understand the intention to do an atypical humorous video, but he and his wife ain't that funny. They seemed like high school snobs/bullies going through a yearbook & making fun of classmates they don't like or are jealous of. Do they even still make yearbooks? 🤔
Great video Alan. The copyright strike is just what Google calls it. It was in violation of bullying which is probably the worst thing you can get a strike for on RUclips. I think sticky goose would actually benefit if he actually participated. Like a lot of us fellow RUclipsrs do in live streams. He definitely misinterpreted the whole sticker, people aspect of the community and why this community is great. Just a fun place to hang out and talked about a specific hobby. That's where his big disconnect is with a lot of the members that the videos
Yeah, I didn't realize the "copyright" strike was an anti-bullying thing. This is probably why Sticky Goose couldn't fight against it. I agree he missed the point on the value of community. Small channels focus is on community building and supporting each other. We don't need to be youtube stars (though we all would love be such), community is more important and the friendships we've built.
I get the whole heel/clickbait approach but SG is not entertaining to me and adds nothing to my collecting experience/niche. YT has recommended a couple of his videos (controversial and sticker ones). It seems he's looking for cover and doubling down. I am a bottom-feeder on his clicks/views perspective which is fine with me. I rather engage with a few folks with low views/low production (ashy hands showing comics,Lol) and maintain my dignity without tearing others down. It's been nice to connect to Superman collectors, YT shorts-focused folks, folks from the Philippines, drawing community, and card community. Be well 👍🏼👍🏼🎃🎃
He is just a s... stirrer. I unsubscribed and stopped watching his videos when he insinuated that Streetside Anthony was involved in a theft at a comic book show. Comic books is supposed to be fun and a way to relax and I don't watch videos either about community drama or comic book investments.
I’m not an actual member of the “comic book community” but I do watch a lot of comic book channels and have friends in the comic community who do have channels. However I am part of the vinyl community and know you have a certain amount of “drama” anytime you have a group of like minded people. While I can appreciate your giving Sticky Goose the benefit of the doubt I would tend to disagree. I’ve watched a few of his videos and he def is a pot stirrer. I started going through his videos awhile back and the majority of them he was in some sort of beef with another channel, collector or seller. He seems to revel in the fact that he’s involved in conflict. I’m guessing he’s wearing his YT spanking like a badge of honor. Whether or not I know Sticky or whatever, his channel is everything I steer away from when looking for quality content. You said it yourself, he uses drama and “trolling” to gain views and followers. Those are the things in a YT creator that immediately turn me off. It’s petty and only results in one thing discord, hurt feelings and anger. Is that the kind of thing you think is good for a community whether it’s in jest or not? The way to a good strong cohesive community is support and harmony. Not talking sh!t about your peers. Having said this I do like your channel and think what you do here is awesome and you don’t seem like the kinda guy that would put yourself in with a troll or someone who’s channel’s bread & butter is drama and tearing others down Joke or no joke. Sticky Goose is toxic and totally self-obsessed in his videos. To me he is part of the short-selling bashing problem in our economy. I dont think he was trying to be funny when he spent time insulting comic book store owners for over an hour to tell them how to run their shops. To me that is not being "chill".
I think sticky goose really doesn't deserve all of the hate and drama. He is just another satirical channel that wants to make the comic book community laugh, and even help some of the lesser known creators get popular. Even though it doesn't show, you can still learn that from him.

I think you nailed this one -- people talking is always positive for the other person's channel, guys make fun of other guys, and people do roast their friends and some get upset about it.

Sticky Goose has only helped out the comic book community here on RUclips and is absolutely correct on people just liking the drama, people don’t care about comics

I think the part that he was missing was that when you are trolling or roasting your friends they actually have to be your friends in the first place. If someone doesn't know you and he is talking about you in some of the ways that he has talked about other channels then I can see where some individuals might be offended. Ultimately I think his content is more for the purposes of click bait than anything else and not to provide anything useful or positive to the community.

Some of the stuff he says wasn't all lies. So sometimes the truths hurts but he said it in a fun way. Also his content is pretty good too, not all but some was.

Video popped up in my feed for some reason and I decided to comment on the title and not watch the video. The comic community shouldn’t be paying attention to the drama, and instead we should be focusing on comics and collecting. Save the drama for the Kardashians.

I used to watch StickyGoose videos, but gave up on that - just not for me. Much like you, I'm not in this hobby to see more of the real world and its negative shenanigans - I'm here to escape it. There is enough negativity in our World as it is... I have no need or desire to watch or listen to it, meant to be satire or not, on a topic that I watch for fun, joy.
Sticky Goose is a super strange guy, but he's figured out that people will watch negative titled videos. He didn't say it in a playful way. It's just the way he is....creepy and weird.

I didn't like his video… skipped through much of it once I got the gist. I understand the intention to do an atypical humorous video, but he and his wife ain't that funny.
They seemed like high school snobs/bullies going through a yearbook & making fun of classmates they don't like or are jealous of. Do they even still make yearbooks? 🤔
Great video Alan. The copyright strike is just what Google calls it. It was in violation of bullying which is probably the worst thing you can get a strike for on RUclips. I think sticky goose would actually benefit if he actually participated. Like a lot of us fellow RUclipsrs do in live streams. He definitely misinterpreted the whole sticker, people aspect of the community and why this community is great. Just a fun place to hang out and talked about a specific hobby. That's where his big disconnect is with a lot of the members that the videos
Yeah, I didn't realize the "copyright" strike was an anti-bullying thing. This is probably why Sticky Goose couldn't fight against it. I agree he missed the point on the value of community. Small channels focus is on community building and supporting each other. We don't need to be youtube stars (though we all would love be such), community is more important and the friendships we've built.

I get the whole heel/clickbait approach but SG is not entertaining to me and adds nothing to my collecting experience/niche. YT has recommended a couple of his videos (controversial and sticker ones). It seems he's looking for cover and doubling down. I am a bottom-feeder on his clicks/views perspective which is fine with me. I rather engage with a few folks with low views/low production (ashy hands showing comics,Lol) and maintain my dignity without tearing others down. It's been nice to connect to Superman collectors, YT shorts-focused folks, folks from the Philippines, drawing community, and card community. Be well 👍🏼👍🏼🎃🎃
He is just a s... stirrer. I unsubscribed and stopped watching his videos when he insinuated that Streetside Anthony was involved in a theft at a comic book show. Comic books is supposed to be fun and a way to relax and I don't watch videos either about community drama or comic book investments.
I’m not an actual member of the “comic book community” but I do watch a lot of comic book channels and have friends in the comic community who do have channels. However I am part of the vinyl community and know you have a certain amount of “drama” anytime you have a group of like minded people. While I can appreciate your giving Sticky Goose the benefit of the doubt I would tend to disagree. I’ve watched a few of his videos and he def is a pot stirrer. I started going through his videos awhile back and the majority of them he was in some sort of beef with another channel, collector or seller. He seems to revel in the fact that he’s involved in conflict. I’m guessing he’s wearing his YT spanking like a badge of honor. Whether or not I know Sticky or whatever, his channel is everything I steer away from when looking for quality content. You said it yourself, he uses drama and “trolling” to gain views and followers. Those are the things in a YT creator that immediately turn me off. It’s petty and only results in one thing discord, hurt feelings and anger. Is that the kind of thing you think is good for a community whether it’s in jest or not? The way to a good strong cohesive community is support and harmony. Not talking sh!t about your peers. Having said this I do like your channel and think what you do here is awesome and you don’t seem like the kinda guy that would put yourself in with a troll or someone who’s channel’s bread & butter is drama and tearing others down Joke or no joke. Sticky Goose is toxic and totally self-obsessed in his videos. To me he is part of the short-selling bashing problem in our economy. I dont think he was trying to be funny when he spent time insulting comic book store owners for over an hour to tell them how to run their shops. To me that is not being "chill".

I think sticky goose really doesn't deserve all of the hate and drama. He is just another satirical channel that wants to make the comic book community laugh, and even help some of the lesser known creators get popular. Even though it doesn't show, you can still learn that from him.
goose through his humour (that noone really gets) has exposed the minty one and the lack of true subs and actual utube clout. Weird how folks carve and create their image for utube monetization.
