Have watched this what feels like 15000 times and still in awe every time just incredible love all his music and hes clearly a really lovely not egotistical person either.
Its like the first solo was so perfect, with the perfect note choice over every chord, that the second solo seems awkward as he's trying to play something different, but also wants to play the same notes as the first solo because he knows he chose the perfect notes already
you are mistaken my friend it's called improvisation on the harmony, he does not have to remember it note by note, guthrie is way more talented than just remembering solos ;)
He did the solo different every time live - only sticking to certain key sections - as do Dave Kilminster and Alex Hutchings when they do that song on tour with Steven Wilson :) I actually have a vid on my channel of Guthrie doing this one in Edinburgh with the band. He rarely replicates what is on the record - he's not that kind of musician!
Just great entertaining music! We all know what a monster technician you are capable of phenomenal chops, however, it's clear you put the music first. Love your work Marco. Thanks heaps for sharing your talent. Can't wait to see you in Melbourne next year with the Aristocrats. 😉
@@MrArchie800 It's a Moog Voyager. You can see a closeup of Adam Holzman's solo on his RUclips channel (here: ruclips.net/video/2lw8MdNd3n4/видео.htmlsi=8jqYGLvbTyBe2Fd5).
Dave Kilminster does a great job of the solo. Of course Guthrie is legendary and so musical. Dave K is great but the solo isn't as sweet and musical as Guthrie's.
Nothing new to see here I'm afraid. Just another super guitar playing technician rather than musician. Heard it all before blues rock scales & phrasing. Just faster than most. But no amazing chordal composition like Allan Holdsworth. No amazingly lyrical outside the box playing like Allan Holdsworth.
@@1979triplethat's adhominem. The critic or messenger doesn't need to be a performer. Also you're arguing on the basis of technical ability/ performance. Technical ability isn't necessarily artistically creative music. It's often mere finger gymnastics. Suggest you check out some Allan Holdsworth. He's redefined how to play the guitar. And opened up un chartered territory ref scales & chordal composition. Govan here is just blues rock shredding. Cliched & boring
@pobinr I respectfully disagree. As a guitar player myself I must give credit to this fine MUSICIAN! The feel and emotions put into this solo is fantastic!! And music is all about feelings. It may not fit into your musical space right now. But instead of wishing for something else I think we should appreciate what is obviously epic! I don't like Allan Holdsworth. It's not musical to me. But I'm not telling people he is on the wrong musical path! It's all about respect;)
You summed it up. As a guitar player you say. What does compositional content have to do with which instrument? I listen to debussy or bach on any numbers of instruments. Only when I was young did I become obsessed with guitar players & mostly only listen to music with guitar on rather than what was going on musically.
Whaouuuu .... the moog solo and the guitar solo are demoniac indeed 😍❤
Guthrie just scares me to death. It's like voltage is just flowing through him and making the guitar obey him.
That moooooog solo ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ive seen it a million times and get chills every time
Gutherie is insanely amazing
Хочется отложить гитару в сторону. Это апофеоз гитарного искусства, просто невероятно
Гатри, не знаю, благодарить тебя или ненавидеть😂
I love Guthrie’s playing but I think that keyboard player is something very special.

Holzmann Govan, Beggs, Minnemann, Blundell and of course The Maestro himself. Divine!
Incredible piece! THANK YOU Steve!!!!
probably one of the most iconic EVER
WOW, GREAT COMPOSITION ############
I just randomly came across this and first time hearing it! Awesome! My soul feels lifted! My regret #9 is not knowing about this sooner!
Great recording. One of my favorites.

@@GantryGuitars Guthrie definitely hit it 1st time around.
Agreed.
Tops in my book and I'm a drummer

WOW ! Excelente EDICIÓN de Regret 9 !
Great Job!!! Unique 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🏆🥇
This fucking MOOG hits just as hard as my favorite bass player Steven Doneski❤

Holzman!!!
FANTASTICO
Thanks for this
AWSOME!!❤
Badass!!!
Nice
huhhhh damn...
I love this piece. The keyboard player is wonderful, but why does he face the rear? Thinking he’s nervous or the audience is distracting??
why such less views???
good question.
That doesnt look like a Minimoog. What synth is he playing that lead on????????
I think it's a MemoryMoog (could be wrong though)

I'm guessing the women pictured must be Regret#9? LOL
Kind of reminds me of Kerry Livgren's solo albums! Thanks!
Lmao
Wow
Without Marco and Guthrie this band is lacking all its charm
