@@tugboat6940 Reworking a historical event or biographical feature is unusual in Hollywood? Lol just say why you really don’t like her and keep it pushing😂
I could listen to this icon talk for hours and hours. thank u, Sean. the title is absolutely accurate. it was a pleasure to hear her advice on acting whilst laughing at her random, unintentional funny moments 😭
There were a few no-noes too. Actors shouldn't always "take risks" or "make bold choices" in their portrayals. Good acting is about self-control, the results of which should be effortlessly immersive, the audience shouldn't have to do the work to believe in the character. Also, arguing with your director and writers over details of back story is very bad policy, no-one cares about the actor's method, you might get away with it if you're a Hollywood star, if not you'll probably lose work.
@@BoojayDeeth it may be an industry no-no but I still think she is exactly right. She is absolutely making the characters better and more dynamic by taking those risks and critiquing the writers and directors. And I’m sure she knows they are no-noes too the way she prefaced them by saying “I think” and “in my opinion” because even though she knows that’s the best way to get a good character, obviously it’s not always going to be welcomed. But it is so refreshing to a Black person and a woman be able to speak into those industries and ask for what she needs and be given the tools to make award winning work. I truly think if more actors afforded that opportunity, the caliber of movies and tv would be a lot better, but unfortunately it’s mostly about the bottom line and just churning out content no matter how garbage the role or portrayal is these days.
I can’t believe I just cried during a Hot One’s ep. What Viola said in the end, wow. What a beautiful person, what a great episode, this is the best interview show ❤️
This season is f****ng killing it. Guests, questions, editing, sauce line up... amazing. Viola is a godess, u can tell even Sean is not 100% confortable standing in front of her, incredible Aura only few people have.
i love how these questions actually give her space to articulate her skill and passion for acting. so often she ends up asking endless questions on fluff and i really love that this feels like a good half hour of just her being able to express about what she loves
I love how well and engaging the whole conversation was, not only she was answering but she was present at the moment, asking questions back and telling stories from her life… loved it. Also when she told Sean that he is kinda cute 😂❤
Viola's approach to acting is phenomenal. Her sense of self is inspiring. Btw, the way she asked Sean if he was an actor, was like she was going to cast him in something.
I kinda thought she was paying a compliment to his acting questions, like 'you really get what goes through an actor's head, you must be one, right?' But either scenario would be boss.
@@CrystalisQ I think she meant perform under pressure... Sean is amazing at doing his lines (questions) wonder how, cheat paper or whatever he using to memorize then also battling the spice while doing that! while they guest just need to speak from their hearts...

I have never met anoyone as special, wise, smart, generous, witty, strong, unique and herself as much as Viola Davis. We are lucky to be living at the same time with her. What a literal queen!
This is my first Viola Davis interview and I loved how smart and insightful she is. No wonder she's a great actor. It's always pleasing to see.
Every interview of hers is like this. Its awesome
So smart that she she made a movie that completely rewrote history and thought nobody would notice
@@tugboat6940 cry harder
@@wildflowers30 I'm just stating a fact there bud
@@tugboat6940 Reworking a historical event or biographical feature is unusual in Hollywood? Lol just say why you really don’t like her and keep it pushing😂
I just love how authentic Viola is. What she said about being yourself really hit home. Great episode!
As she plays other people 😂
@@randomdude189 gonna get get ya ip, have a good day! See you soon!
Funny, witty, talented, professional, warm, kind, AND gorgeous 🥰 Mrs. Davis was a treat! This was such a good episode of Hot Ones!
I could listen to this icon talk for hours and hours. thank u, Sean. the title is absolutely accurate. it was a pleasure to hear her advice on acting whilst laughing at her random, unintentional funny moments 😭
Viola was dropping so many acting gems in this interview! Thank you!
Totally - She did a great interview on Inside the Actors' Studio. RIP James Lipton.
Right , kinda wish I wanted to be an actor
There were a few no-noes too. Actors shouldn't always "take risks" or "make bold choices" in their portrayals. Good acting is about self-control, the results of which should be effortlessly immersive, the audience shouldn't have to do the work to believe in the character. Also, arguing with your director and writers over details of back story is very bad policy, no-one cares about the actor's method, you might get away with it if you're a Hollywood star, if not you'll probably lose work.
Exactly what I told my daughter who is currently an Drama student at NYU!
Her expressions for every wing are a masterclass. What a surprising guest to have on Hot Ones. Looking forward to seeing who will show up next🌶️!
Cringe af!
@@Lamiishere who hurt you. Not a surprising guest though, movie stars practically always include Hot Ones in their press tours these days!
Using video title in the comment? Creep much?
@@daisydog388 What are you talking about?
@@Lamiishere Yes, you are.
I can’t believe I just cried during a Hot One’s ep. What Viola said in the end, wow. What a beautiful person, what a great episode, this is the best interview show ❤️
yea she makes me cry a lot. i hate celebrities usually but i respect her more than the others right now.
I had to clap
Viola Viola Viola 🤌🏽🥰👏🏾👏🏾
ok
Love her as an actress, and she deserves all her flowers.
DEFINITELY!! SHE'S AMAZING!!
This season is f****ng killing it. Guests, questions, editing, sauce line up... amazing. Viola is a godess, u can tell even Sean is not 100% confortable standing in front of her, incredible Aura only few people have.
I noticed that too! But who wouldn’t it’s thee Viola Davis
Agreed! First time I’ve seen that look of complete awe in Sean’s eyes.
🤣🤣
❤❤you could have say it better
Yess👆💪💗
i love how these questions actually give her space to articulate her skill and passion for acting. so often she ends up asking endless questions on fluff and i really love that this feels like a good half hour of just her being able to express about what she loves
First time I've actually noticed Sean be nervous at the start of an interview. Killed it as usual. Viola is supreme.
She is so humble, intelligent, inspiring, wise and a lovely person ❤❤❤
This woman radiates kindness, intelligence and wisdom. I felt it as soon as I saw her for the first time. And what a deep soothing voice.
I love how well and engaging the whole conversation was, not only she was answering but she was present at the moment, asking questions back and telling stories from her life… loved it. Also when she told Sean that he is kinda cute 😂❤
Ikr! And i'm happy she pointed out his questions were fantastic because they really were, he is a genius interviewer!
def one of my favorite! She is the real deal!
Viola Davis is so inspiring. She makes me want to rise up and tackle every challenge headed my way. What a lovely lady.
That’s sad
Same! Love it
@Democrats Lie you’re weird
@@tripleagirls3775 is it wrong to hate a hypocritical actress who glorifies racism and hypocrisy?
@@Birthold so you hate her bc she’s a successful Black woman…got it.
Her speech at the end really touched me and brought me to tears, needed those words today. Great episode!!!
Oh y’all getting really classy now. THEE Mrs. Viola Davis?!? This was an amazing episode. Immediately on my list of faves and I’m only 10 mins in
She's the type you always come correct around because getting scolded by them would feel worse than dying lol.
Sean is amazing at doing his lines (questions)
wonder how, cheat paper or whatever he using to memorize
then also battling the spice while doing that!
while they guest just need to speak from their hearts...
Made my post and then searched the comments, He just got the cosign imo
19:58 i love that Viola asks Sean if she ever told him about something even though this may have been the first time they have met....she so lost in the sauce she imagined a whole friendship with Sean..he was even taken aback and answers "no you haven't told me this"
What can Viola not do? She’s a amazing actress and deserves all the awards and then some.
It's amazing to me how Sean can take people that I already like and make me fall in love with them all over again just by allowing them to be genuinely who they are. Well done, as always.
Brilliant comment 👏
Viola Davis has done so much as an actress. Her range is unreal. From laughing, to crying...to super intimidating, she has touched all of my emotions in her roles. Plus she seems very interesting & the coolest. Go Viola!!
I can't think of a single role that was memorable. What has she done as an actress to warrant you saying she's "unreal"?
@@tugboat6940 you’re giving racist 💋
@@tugboat6940 The Help, Fences, and Doubt are just a handful of her great performances. My favorite is Doubt and she had a small amount of screen time to give her best.
@@bteach54 Hollywood did tell us cause they literally talk about it in the movie💀
Viola is that cool as aunt that keeps it real no matter how hard it is. She's definitely genuinely her. I enjoyed this one.
I gagged when she was like "you also kinda cute too". Properly the most aunty thing, as she's whipping out that wisdom
@@iliasz.5232 nope thanks for the knowledge.
viola genuinely enjoying the wings (the chef must be so proud!) was the funniest and most relatable thing ever, she's so real yet such an icon

@Democrats Lie lol k
@Democrats Lie You trolls are truly lurking everywhere. 🥴
This was a acting masterclass and then a life masterclass. What an incredible human being
Only Viola Davis could come back from the edge of death to give a sermon over hot wings. Legend.
100%
Her last answer hit you right in feels. First we feast fam can you make that answer a short! Need to spread that word ✌🏼
Soo powerful. I've been watching on Hulu and this is the first episode that made me seek a message board bc I was so touched
Viola Davis was the most realistic one eating the hot wings. She tore them up like a true foodie would😂 ❤
It was cracking me up. She ate them normally like she was just hanging out at the bar. Everybody is always so timid and dainty eating the wings on this show. Viola Davis wasn't the least bit intimidated. She's the best.
I wood too.
😂😂😂
@@adventureescape1929 😂
Not sure about that. Don't get me wrong she didn't embarrass herself, but wing 7 onwards were shaking her brain, and she wimped out on the last dab.
Broooooo, to be complimented by THE viola davis, about your interviewing ability as and interviewer, when she probably had done hundreds and thousands of them in her lifetime was probably such a fulfilling moment! Good on u sean and team!!
Because he let's his guests speak without interrupting them
She basically called him a "snack" too! 😅
Probably one of my favorite episodes ever. Viola is an absolute gem. Genuine, wise, strong, beautiful, funny.
It’s impossible to not have deeply respect for Viola. She's witty, intelligent, wise and super funny. Also one of my favorite episodes.
Viola Davis always gave me the vibes of that really cool aunt that we always miss cuz shes just so busy but when she comes through shes the best.
I just said as a reply to another comment that she gives me neighborhood aunty vibes lol. That lady in the neighborhood who was always looking out for all us kids, feeding us, giving advice, etc.. Since most our parents worked until later.
🥰🥰🥰
Man, I really, really wanna have a cocktail with Viola after this. She's always amazed me as an actor, but I wasn't expecting the truly down to earth, dead pan personality. Awesome interview.
@Democrats Lie That's a very short and succinct reply and yet I have no idea what you're saying "No" to. I didn't even ask a question.
Viola Davis has done so much as an actress.
She's a hypocrite

This might be the first time ever watching Hot Ones where I kinda can't believe you got this person. I think it's probably cause I'm just blown away by her talent.
Hot wings with even hotter wisdom. What an amazing human being Viola is. Thank you Hot Ones.
Could not have said it better myself. Her response to the question on the Hero's Journey was amazing.
This was a literal delight to watch!!!!! The wisdom and composure and humility of Ms Davis!!! Unmatched. This was a gift. 🤩🎁
the hero’s journey was so beautifully put. love this women so pure so much depth.
In addition to being an incredible actress, Viola is just like… unbelievably smart. She speaks like she knows the secrets to the universe. This is the most engaging conversation about character development and motivations I think I’ve ever watched.
So much wisdom in 25 minutes! And delivered with care and humor. Viola, you are a National treasure!
She was tearing them wings up and telling life stories. I love it!
Too bad it looks like they didn’t do ‘da bomb’ that one everyone struggles with that heat peak that sneaks up on you like crazy and sean always talks about that one. Really wanted to see her reaction on that one haha
