  • In this episode I modify an aftermarket Mustang World Class T5 short shifter to fit the S10 tailhousing. This should also work for any Chevrolet / GMC S-10 with the T-5 transmission. I also clean/paint the cowl vent to install new weatherstripping.

Awesome, thanks for watching! I'm glad it helped. The shifter has been working just fine since I installed it but I did have to remove those extra bolts the limit the throw as I couldn't get dust boot to fit with them.

Hey Coronet, where did you get that steel input shaft bearing retainer? I'm pulling a 1987 S10 T5 soon and I'd like to buy one of these. Thanks!

What year s-10 is that tail shaft from. I can't figure out what engine was in the s10 that that would have came with. Trying to make sure I don't buy the wrong transmission from the junk yard. Around here you have to pay for it before they pull it and won't let you come out and look at it first.

Hi Matt, here is a good thread on the HAMB that has lots of T5 information; www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/tech-ultimate-t-5-article.171291/
Also, there is a company in Washington State that can convert an electronic S10 tailshaft to mechanical. The seller is alloy_specialties www.ebay.com/itm/221620352568?hash=item33999a3638:g:ifoAAOSwAsxgjwZP

I am picking up one with a electric speedo Thursday. I'll get something figured out.

@@mattf3238 Good luck! The mechanical ones are getting very rare, it took me a long time watching craigslist to score one. You could also buy an electric to mechanical converter but they aren't cheap; www.speedhut.com/ecommerce/product/2585/SpeedBox%E2%84%A2-GPS-VSS-to-Mechanical-Drive-Speed-Converter

The ones that I found were way too expensive. I'll check it out thank you.

I am surprised as far as you went with the build and I think I heard you mention turbo in one of your videos that you didn't upgrade the heads to gt40 head out of the junkyard.
