Lesley Garrett’s rendition is too harsh and can not control her vocals. Kiri’s rendition is by all means the best I’ve heard this far. Her vocals are smooth and her belting is pure gold.

I haven't heard this song since I sang it when I was about 19! It was in an album by Beverly Sills of old Victor Herbert songs.
Beverly Sills is magnificent and it just flows out of her ; other sopranos play around with it too much which annoys me.
Saw this on her 50th Birthday celebrations back in March 1994, great show indeed.
Only Kiri (and Sills, of course) is able to tackle this aria absolutely perfect.
