I just wanted to say that I appreciate your videos. I’m a sharpener and mostly use diamonds and synthetic stones. I have a couple natural stones I’m experimenting with and I hope you continue to upload these videos. Thank you for your content!

Thanks for the kind words! I will have some more to come, especially of these types of videos so people can get a feel for different stones. If you have any requests in particular let me know and I will do my best!

natural whetstone produce very smooth and comfortable edges with heaps of keenness. synthetics tend to be harsh/toothy depending on the finish. moreover I find natural stone to be cheaper on the long run especially considering there working range and capabilities. regards dapper shaves

I have a binsui and I absolutely love it. It's a great stone for sharpening my kitchen knives as it leaves a thoroughly aggressive edge with a little refinement when there is enough mud built+some stropping with green compound :)

Yeah I think that is a great application for them. I prefer a bit more fineness for things like vegetable knives but I think the Binsui is great if you like teeth on your edge or have softer SS knives.

Thanks for the comment. I have another one I am working on editing up for Omura stones which are also easy to find and inexpensive (relatively speaking).

I like these videos very much. They are very informative. I also appreciate that you removed the music. it is very distracting to me and impedes listening to the sound of the knives in contact with the stones.

Yeah, it was an improvement to ditch the music I agree. Glad you like them!

Another excellent video - thanks for that. I must say, I enjoy hearing the metal-on-stone soundtrack. Perhaps there is an enterprising microphone designer reading this who could come up with a mini-mic to catch and amplify this 'music'. As a relatively new sharpener, I catch myself paying a lot of attention to the sounds the stones generate; chefs' thing I guess, like listening to the sounds a steak makes as the cooking goes along. Have a fine day.

Yeah, it can tell you a lot about the stone! Eventually I will do a mic upgrade and will keep your thoughts in mind.

My favorite videos and favorite topic.
    Thank you so much.
I'd like to see all the different Naka toishi in videos like these.
    Ideas for videos.
Slurry management and techniques to get finer and coarser finishes.
How to work very hard vs soft awasedos for polishing and sharpening.
    Identifying toxic inclusions.
    Keep up the phenomenal work.

Thanks for commenting and the suggestions. I can for sure get around to producing videos on all of those! I appreciate the suggestions, some already on my list of ideas others were not.
