Maybe on long-haul, but they're not as good as they used to be on short haul in my personal experience. But I guess that's true of many airlines these days.

I love the Swiss A220. Such a nice cabin with the chrome around the seats and the individual screens. Would lobe to fly with them again

Basically, if you travel to France, you will go to the french part of the airport (and pass french customs) as for all other flights, you need to pass the swiss customs :-) it is due to the fact that the end of the runway is built in France (making it the longest runway in Switzerland)!

I haven't been to Geneva since the late 80's, but it looks like nothing has been changed in the use of that satellite "D" gate...the tunnel looks the same. Cointrin was a strange airport...even back then. The northern edge of the airport does run along the Swiss-French border, so it can be approached from either country. Remembering Swissair....it was such an amazing airline!! Travel safe, dear sir!!!

Lovely video! The A220 is such a lovely aircraft to fly on, so quiet and comfortable. It really is the baby version of the A350! ✈️

I live in France and America. For years I have only taken Swiss Air First Class across the Atlantic. The food, service, beds are exceptional. The staff are continulously fabulous. I will continue flying with them when there is travel between America and France again. I am dying to get back to france now. And, it is amazing that they have such a fabulous service on 20 minutes flights! I wakeup in the morning, and the first thing I do is turn on my ordinateur to see if you have something new. Love flying Swiss. I have been flying regularly with them for over a decade, and the crew have always been superb - and yes, they often know the Business Class passengers names!
I regularly have an A220 from Belgrade to Zurich, great plane. Great to see that they have finally fitted the curtains - it is amazing just how much they reduce the noise when the cabin is full and you want to concentrate.
The only issues I have with the A220 is the rediculously small table which is to small for the trays they use when they serve a meal and the seat pockets which I you put the supplied water bottle in, there isn't enough knee room - fortunately, in Business, you can use one in the empty seat next to you.
I look forward to a time when I can fly again and enjoy the Swiss hospitality, and just hope that the standard of the food is as good as it was pre pandemic.

I always had a great experience on Swiss economy class for Euro flights! Very solid..
On such a short flight great to see the level of service given the current health conditions. Nice review Josh! I was to have flown Swiss in business class from YUL to ZRH in April 2020; was really looking forward to it you know... pandemic. Hopefully when things 🤞 return to normal, I'll finally have the opportunity.

Gotta love the Swiss efficiency and everything being in 3 different languages depending on the region you are in. Too bad it was a night flight, you would have had some AMAZING views during the day.
Basel/Mulhouse Airport has the same arrangement as Geneva but the other way around. The airport is physically situated in France but has separate Swiss and French terminals with a special "neutral" road link with the city of Basel (fenced-off and with no entry or exit ramps). Don't forget that while Switzerland is not part of the EU it is part of Schengen so that removes the need (in non-Covid times anyway!) for border checks.

There is one even more interesting! Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg EuroAirport near Basel and has a great SkyView lounge with a perfect view of the runway and tarmac!

It's always nice to fly SWISS. The cabin crew is always so friendly and professional. And I love the Swiss cheese they serve! I hope SWISS soon adds more flights between Shanghai and Zurich so I can fly with them again.
Would be great for you to fly American & United and bring your honest commentary to those airlines.

That’s a really long tunnel! You should see Chicago O’Hare tunnel between concourse B and C. It’s a really neat tunnel. I have flown from and to Chicago O’Hare many times

There’s a French sector at because a part of the runway is located in France and that was the deal they come with be able to construct the whole runway but must have a French sector at the airport

Compared to others airlines Swiss still offers a full service in Business. If you fly to LHR with a Swiss wide body on Business class you will be positively surprised:)

Very nice report! And definitely excellent service for a 30 minute flight. Those seats look very thin and uncomfortable; how are they? I couldn't do your travel and sleep schedule! My body requires 7-8 hours of good sleep. You're a trooper!

Thanks for your enjoyable review. I did this flight quite some times (both ways) back when Swiss operated the Avro on this route. Also in economy there was good service. Ones, on Christmas Eve, I got a whole bag of these Chocolates during the Zürich - Geneva flight, "to have some good time with my family". I would recommend this flight in daylight, the views are stunning. This flight is very expensive to book as a seperate flight, however, when booking Amsterdam - Geneva via Zürich (both ways) it was cheaper then just booking Amsterdam - Zürich both ways. So it was a more then free gift for me 😀.
I saw the Lufthansa CRJ at the D gates in your review, probably heading for München. Maybe this would be nice for a future review. The views on that flight are the most stunning I ever experienced (make sure to sit on the right side of the plane). Did you ever review a CRJ flight?

I have flown them a few times from England to Europe and from Europe back to England. I really like there Swiss chocolate some times they let you take two or three of them .
There is funny and strange little border between Swiss and France in the main terminal to access the French part of the airport. I guess it deals with all the border issues as each time I’ve used to fly to Orly. Arriving Paris is treated as a domestic rather than international flight
The chocolate is a nice touch.
Josh I'd really encourage you to try the new E-190 business class of Ego Airways. From their website it seems way superior compared to any other European domestic airline. They should start in March here in Italy.

Josh, besides having some nice colours and accents,, those seats look so thin and narrow, Are they actually comfortable?
Have you tried doing some cardio during your day...maybe go for a run before you leave the hotel in the morning ...always helps me sleep. I often find it hard to sleep otherwise even though i feel tired before going to bed.

Although Switzerland is not part of the European Union, it is part of Schengen which makes it easier for bi/tri-national airport operations such as in Geneva and Bâle-Mulhouse-Freiburg.
Josh why not have a longer stay over than get up at 4am?

Switzerland is not part of EU but is part of the Schengen space, which France is also part of; therefore there are no "borders" between the 2 countries. Same applies to Basel airport that has exits to 3 countries (Switzerland, France and Germany)
We always choose SWISS to Zürich- they’ve maintained a standard other airlines forgot years ago 😉
I got just a bottle of watter last time on this route. Also in buisness class... 🤣 But I agree, on other route, swiss is really good. I hope you tried the buisness lounge in Zurich.
The immigration between France and Switzerland is easy as both country see in the Schengen zone, although Switzerland is not a member of the EU.(they joined the Schengen zone as an external member about 10 years ago). Before that there was simply two entrances and two zones (with a French domestic zone as the flights to French destinations where considered as d’inertie flight). Flight to Zurich (and previously Lugano are considered international as the domestic market I’d almost inexistant, most of the pay transiting in ZRH). Similar situation in Basel, but the opposites, the airport bring in France.

And I was shocked when I went to a state, where I am currently at, where the temperature is under freezing (under 35 fahrenheit) and girls were wearing shorts! Seems like some people carry their weakness of cold in their chest while others do so on their legs!
the A220-300 is one to go for!!! don't really like the cramped & tight 3-4-3 (10 abreast) seating configuration on the SWISS B777-300 ER & B777-200 LR!!!
