Oh sure. Where was this back in the '90's when I needed it? 😍
not sure if anyone gives a damn but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can stream all the latest movies on instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my girlfriend these days :)
@Ezra Garrett yup, I've been using instaflixxer for since november myself =)
Bought the OB1-500 a while back (with Orange 410 cab). Never been so happy with a bass amp, what a monster!
whats the pounds on that cab?
@@Bflatest not sure but it's hefty. Recommend putting some wheels under it
Was completely sold on buying a darkglass but after hearing this I'm now undecided 😕 this thing sounds awesome and would suit my deftones covers perfect
That tone must slice through a mix like fucking butter
You monsters have just given me the worst case of GAS I've ever had
I wonder if a Bass Butler is just a fly rig/pedal version of this head or they sound different. I love the fuzz kind of distortion this head can deliver when cranked, but can I achieve the same from a more portable Bass Butler preamp pedal?
Best sounding Orange amp I ever heard! Nice review!
The Fender Bassman 1200/Sunn1200s is a much better amp if you can find one. It has a real tube preamp & solid state power amp. 1,200 watts @ 2 ohms. Has 4 speaker outs. Yes you can power four 8 ohm cabs with the thing. It has 2 channels with a blend control to mix your clean and TUBE distortion. It has tone controls as well as an EQ. If you can find one they're about $500 and killer KILLER amps. I have 3 of them because it's the best amp I've found.
Why would you get 3 😂
You guys need to do some Source Audio stuff! I stopped by your shop in Ventura and within 3 hours of leaving, most of my pedals were on sale online so I can get some SA pedals:
Just saw this one at the store yesterday and wondered how it sounds, thanks guys great demo!!
Also, have you consider doing a demo on the EHX Cock Fight Plus?? How would that wah circuit work besides the cock voice?
Cock Fight sounds like a great idea
Yeah I want one
Wow,this sound its very good
ob1-500 or Darkglass Microtubes 900 V2 for a skate-punk/power pop style band?
My opinion go with the orange darkglass sounds only good for modern metal in my opinion
@@bobramarz1889 awesome, down to either the Orange OB1 or SVT3-PRO!
J.P. Rosentreter both are great and versatile
@@jprosentreter what did you chose? Have you compared fan loudness?
@@niasboiii haven't decided yet, with everything going on we have taken a hiatus. I am a firefighter-paramedic in one of the biggest hotspots in Illinois, so we are taking a break as I don't want to infect anyone should I be an asymptomatic carrier. Though I did get my first round of vaccine on Friday so I'm pretty stoked on that!
Please do a demo for the Orange 4 Stroke 300. This demo is good but in my opinion. the excessive Active Basses with the Active Preamp on the head makes it sound fizzy in the mid and treble frequencies. I recommend an equal amount of Passive and Active Basses (with a 5 string). Keep up the good work. :)
But there was an equal amount of active and passive basses in the video -- the PJ with the Geezer Butlers is passive, as is the P with the SD Steve Harris, the J and the Tbird are active. So, two and two.
How does the amp's overdrive respond to having a fuzz pedal or any other drive in front of it? I've known some solid state bass amps with drive that get overly noise and fizzy when you put drive in front of them.
Ryan Denley Works just fine.
Nice demo man...but which is better for various gigs(small, big, inside, outside)?? This or the 500w version ?
Stam Gogos I had the 500 for a minuet. It's REALLY loud. The 300 could probably handle big gigs with the right cab. Got rid of mine since it did not take pedals very well in my opinion. Never the less it's still a good amp.
First things first, thank you for your response man.
For a cab I have the Orange OBC 4X10 and I bet it's fine. Now that thing you said about the pedals...with all kinds of pedals or just distortion/od/fuzz pedals?
Will, do you folks like this or the Bassman 500 better?
I’m running a 610 ampeg. I’m looking into getting either the OB1-300 or the OB1-500 what do you all recommend
Def 500
What about the DI output though? how good does that sound?
Wish they'd pair this preamp with a tube power amp.
Daniel Brownson IKR. It seems like there are so many bass amps with tubes in the preamp but some form of solid state power amps. The only tube options are very expensive and rare
I love the tone of this thing. Seriously considering switching out my Fender Rumble for this eventually. Question about the cab: does it have a horn and if so, are you using it in this demo? I keep the horn for my Rumble off.
We dialed the horn control to about the 9 'o clock position so it was just slightly on.
Bassic Gear Review thanks! Love your reviews
Guys, can you do Boss JB-2 with bass?
3:11 mmmm, chewy ^^
the gain structure is pretty soft too, without being too harsh fuzz. It's not my favorite gain sound-- darkglass is better of course-- but still sounds great!
Dark glass is over rated.
@@nategin9009 I love the "of course." I have had quite. a few Darkglass pedals, but my favorite overdrive comes from Orange amp sounds(and Peavey!)
@@faithnoman2635 I like the scrambler di+
@@nategin9009 I'm not an Ampeg guy at all but I love clank, which darkglass provides. But I also love fuzz around that clank.
@@faithnoman2635 the only darkglass pedal I would get I'd the microtubes x. Good for grindcore
Is this good for heavy metal/ Deathcore music?
I don’t see why not. But you might want to get the 500-watt.
@@TheBassChannel why? Isn't 500 enough?
You rocks!
my man was talking so fast initially i checked to see if playback speed was set to 1.5x
This sounds more like the Geddy Lee sound than the SansAmp does.
Matt Werner Geddy actually runs the Sansamp into an AD-200B, so you're not far off.
Amp sounds nice, but dude, why do you talk so fast?
It’s a California thing I think.
mmh cant point the finger on it but i dont like the sound of this one
1:36 impressive demo for a few seconds before the horrible overdrive cuts in. Also, ob1, as in Obiwan? Give me a break.
Fuck distortion
