The timing chain cover is upside down lol. Also that screw on the bottom of the carb is your idle adjustment. I believe if you turn it left it will lower the idle
captaincsp I hope he realizes 4 strokes aren't supposed to smoke and that the spray paint is gonna gone off with some good pressure wash... that top end is probably gouged up.
@@briankennedy5578 I've heard that a lot but as long as the oil is mix correctly and used good oil instead of cheap walmart 2 stroke oil it makes a big difference. I have a 2004 banshee that I bought in 2006 and just barley did the first rebuild on it this year it still had its stock bore and piston on it. I ride it pretty hard about 5 months out of the years. I also have a 2005 blaster that I bought in 2006 thats my sons that is still running the stock bore and piston still runs great. Which is ran hard 5 months of the year lots of hours on both.
Rings are shot. I have a 1999 Kawasaki KX 250 motor has never been touched. It's all about the premix you use. And it's just as fast as my 2016 CRF 450.
It's awesome to watch this build to see where it came from a $200 project that didn't run to something that runs. and rides ignore the haters dude because most of them are little kids or a man child that like to bust on people. but guess what you did the work yourself it doesn't matter how the work gets done it matters that it did. the quads in a better place than it was sitting somewhere rusting in abandoned and it looks good... you should keep doing series like this man honestly more interesting than you picking up perfectly running banshees or other machines that Run and Ride. I'd rather watch a restore... I do this kind of stuff all the time the satisfaction of hearing something run when it didn't when you got it means the world to you you know.
Also you might as well put a rebuild kit on it you're into it for what maybe $250 now after buying supplies you'll make your money back when you go to sell it... and to fix the seat you actually can buy seat foam instead of buying a whole other seat...

Something that works really well to restore color to faded plastics is the heat gun you love so much. Youll take it and hold it in one spot up close. As the color starts to darken move the gun slowly. This melts the oxidized plastic and restores the color and is also a long lasting fix. I do it on alot of plastic trim pieces on my projects
It looks so much better & I use purple power, dawn, awesome, oven cleaner or engine degreaser same as Joe uses to clean his engines on plastics it works every time & good video

You've successfully taken a $200 quad, put 50 hours of labor into messing with it and another $100 in spray paint and other stuff, and made it a $150 quad. lmao Little tip: a little rust here and there looks way better than paint that doesn't match and over-spray all over everything. Why even bother and waste the paint if you're going to do such a shitty job? Just leave it as is.
The auto-decomp isn't working. Also, the valve seals, or piston rings are shot. That's why it's smoking so much. It is amazing what you have done with it, but someone would really need to fix that oil problem before they could consider that a reliable quad. Great video though.
Y e.g. p and I'd go ahead and bore it while its tore down and put 2 racing spockets on it and it will b just like the one i had when i was a kid ....that was fast back when i was a kid

He is learning but does alot of half ass shit!!! Lol. If he took his time and researched some how to vids he could make much more doing things right!!!
fix the lights up, paint the rims, things gonna look clean lol! also if you need smal touchup , spray a little paint into the cap or a random cap and use a small paintbrush.

Happy Thanksgiving. Please consider getting rings, top end gaskets and valve seals. It won't run you to much and when you go to sell it you'll be able to get $1,200 to $1,600, plus it will feel good to make it right. Really like this series and the quad itself. Keep it up man.
You need to check your valve clearances. It clearly is off. It will make a big difference in how it runs an idles. I am sure you will just ignore this comment. Oh an seriously get rid of those crap grips.
Your throttle is adjusted fine. There should be a screw on the carb I dont remember where I'll look in a second that adjusts the idle. You dont have to take the carb apart just adjust that screw you can do it while its running
I had a worrier and u need to twist the thing that under the slide thing and it'll close the slide in the carb it'll fix the idle because the slide is open to much on the carburator so it's allowing to rev up

I’ve liked everything you’ve done except for the spray paint it’s a $200 four wheeler little painted areas like the pegs, exhaust, bars, etc would’ve been fine. Also dip the SOS pad in a cup of water and continue dipping it throughout the process. That’s how you use them even if you were cleaning something inside like a pot.
Not to be a hater but he says it's a running piece of junk but I guarantee once it's all done and running good he will have it for sale on marketplace for $700-$1,000
This build is going great so far! I did a rebuild like this but with a older Polaris sportsman 500 and it works and has four wheels😂 keep up the good work!
Did you ever change the oil and filter in that machine that's the first thing I do before you can try to start something never mind it sounds like the timing chain it is very loose on it just giving you some suggestions
One more tip use Google you can find a repair manual for anything I don't mean to be so negative but these old quads are like old muscle cars they should be fixed properly
The only thing I would have done differently is if I got it for $200, the profit margin is high so I would have restored it. I have two Warriors, one stock restored and one modded, and they bring good money for people that like them. This one has some engine issues that need to be addressed but with very little money invested, you could spend a bit to make good profit. Just my personal take on it.

Yo 2 vintage there could be a small hole in the. Carb boot that why it could be reving high at idle just something to look into and loving this series
Air filter will affect the air fule mix and try turning the idle screw half a turn out
2vintage,if you get a chance you should try to clean up the handle bar a little but besides that it looks better than it did 👍🏻
1.) Top end rebuild
2.) Check idle set screw
3.) Learn how to work on a 4-stroke

The boot from the carb to the engine always crack and if will give you a high idle, loss of power and hard starting.

After the sandpaper and all the abrasives, go over the plastic with a heat gun. It will make them glossy.
