You have done a great job explaining the pros and cons of having a nasal surgery vs not having one. I wish more Dr were like you, I know I would have felt a lot safer. And it's sometimes difficult to talk to some Dr's too. You can't even explained to them the feelings you're experiencing and if you ask too much questions their easily irritated. And they don't understand the psychology traumatic they can put on a patient in that moment, you just don't feel safe you feel alone and started questioning yourself are others gonna have this way as well you know. God bless you Dr

I wish I had seen this video before the surgery I got in Denmark. The surgeon did not tell me what he planned to so. If he says he plans to cut any turbinate tissue or perfectly healthy ethmoid tissue, I suggest you walk or run out of the office. I do not have this, or not the suffocation symptoms, but look up "empty nose syndrome". It has been near two year now and not better. I was actually fine before the surgery, just slight forehead pressure behind eyes and mucosal thickening. Now, whenever I breath through my nose it hurts. Constant headache that I know is due to the surgery because I never had this before then, and if I breath strongly in through my nose the headache is worse. Feels like dry nose and like a cold that never goes away. Humidifier does not help. I suspect that my nose became too soft and is sort of collapsing. So there are other risks you never hear of. The surgery had a dramatic negative impact on my life. We need more videos like this.

These are my symptoms 100% as well. I am so sad I got this surgery. If you have any tips on his to get through the consistent pain with breathing, I would be beyond appreciative if you would be willing to share. I have heard using a CPAP at night might help, but I haven't been diagnosed with a low oxygen level, and no doctor understands why it hurts to breathe even though it clearly shows on a scan that the tissues were "reamed" too posterior in the nose. Wishing you help and peace through finding a way to maintain these symptoms.

I've had six sinus surgeries so far in my lifetime, including two left frontal trephinations. My maxillary sinuses were full of polyps and significant mucosal thickening. After that procedure I was significantly better. It was only more than a decade later when my left frontal sinus became obstructed and abscessed that surgery was a medical necessity. I've been fortunate to have superior ear nose and throat surgeons. I did get a second opinion in order to get the last two procedures accomplished. There was a significant concern for developing rhinitis seca, but I was willing to take that trade off. Most of my sinusitis began as a result of exposure to secondhand smoke during 4 years in the military back in the seventies, before smoking was regulated at all.

Diet plays a huge part. For me pers, no sugars or starches, then learning from Dr. ken Berry and my doctor recommending molybdenum (and I also began taking choline as I learned through my hard research I had histamine intolerance) and I no longer get cysts!
Several cysts in my body had developed MRSA. Now 2.5 years no more of any cysts.
I use my netipot equal part salt and baking soda morning and night and after 53 years of serious upper respiratory and sinus infections, I don’t get them anymore
Keep a diary of good/drink/ people and emotions to know your individual triggers and adjust accordingly. Hope this helps someone else.

I had a bony spur, deviated septum, 24 years of green and yellow discharge, facial pain, headaches right by the ethmoids, and 20% breathing. I didn’t know I had the bony spur which was causing pain. I had an MRI done and allergy testing and the Perrigo nasal spray and the Loradatine just were not cutting it. So I am glad I went under. The first ENT dismissed that I had a a deviated septum (turns out it was moderate). Glad I had a second opinion because I told that first doc too that it was my nose.

I had sinus surgery a few years back, and the results were great - I was able to breath easily through my nose and my constant stuffiness receded. Unfortunately, the results seem to be temporary, as my nasal passages have returned to their initial restricted state. I had the surgery in conjunction with an adult tonsil removal, which was necessitated by frequent occurrence of tonsil stones that formed in pockets within my tonsils (that had previously been shaved when I was a child, but had regrown to an unfortunate degree). I also have a mole on my arm that was taken off 4 years ago, but which has since regrown to it's original state. My body appears to have regenerative capacity in the most unfortunate areas :/

Started getting sinus infections every 2 months, couldn't get any air through nose and tonsils would swell, literally gagging for air. Meds didn't work after first dose, and made it worse. Primary doctor advise against surgery, immediately changed doctor only to get another that advised against it. I insisted, CT didn't reveal any structure issues but I was lucky to get a good doctor who also performed surgery on my father. (Gotta get a good doctor) Life has been 110% better, haven't had sinus infection since. Still have allergies which was really bad the first year because my sinus were now wide open, burned like hell but worth it.

I had doctors jump to “you likely have a tumour” to other surgeons say “it’s a fungal infection” and this and that, but not one person said, “have you trialled antibiotics?” Or asked about the discharge and my extensive history of mcas!!! Low and behold I ended up with a productive respiratory infection, had two rounds of antibiotics. Had to go for an MRI to check a benign brain tumour and sinuses are CLEAR!! It took two years, multiple consults and scans and a lot of me going, “it just seems like a really bad idea right now!” (And it was a finding originally that wasn’t even being considered!)…. For me I believe God truly closed enough doors to help. But gosh I just review how many doctors missed the obvious! (I know many people have lots of antibiotics but I don’t and regardless, it should’ve been asked about to find out and not assume!) I have had two episodes of chronic sinusitis that required surgery last year. Ruled out allergies yesterday, and results were the same as the two tests I had before both surgeries (moderate positive to dust). I know sinusitis can be mistaken for migraines, but this has not/likely is not the case because my pain is not relieved by OTC pain relievers for headaches. My sinus surgeries were six months apart in 2018, and my current sinus infection that has not been solved by lifestyle changes or medication (OTC and antibiotics) but I had no sinus problems after my second surgery in October (10 mo window). Because I’ve had on/off recurrent sinusitis for two years, I KNOW what a sinus infection versus headache feels like (never had migraines despite various ENT docs over the years wanting neurological workup, where the neurologists always said my problems are not neurological). PCP prescribed antibiotics after a week of not responding to home measures (Day/NyQuill, saline’s rinses, Flonase). No improvement after first antibiotic so PCP prescribed 2nd antibiotic which made me vomit. Hopefully the ENT can help with a nasal endoscopy, culture, and maybe a CT scan.

Hello, doctor and thank you for the informative video.
Now, I have enlarged turbinates and need a surgery - most likely either a microdebireder-assisted or radio-frequency-assisted one -- I haven't decided yet.
However the main obstacle for me is a fear of possibility to acquire an "Empty Nose Syndrome", where people actually committed suicides from choking or unable to take a deep breath -- a pretty scary condition.
I think it was even something that was brought up to Congress to issue a directive to force medical personnel/establishments to require them prior to nasal surgeries to inform their patients about a possibility of developing "E.N.S." over time, though not right away...
When I asked about it a few ENT doctors I went for consultations to - the prospective surgeons -- they only shrugged their shoulders and looked at me strangely, as If they didn't understand what I was talking about. Some other online sources mentioned that this condition usually develops if more aggressive approach to turbinate reduction is chosen, but how do I know which is "aggressive" and which is not?
Could you, please, kindly clarify this issue and suggest which one of the above-mentioned surgical procedures is less damaging or dangerous?
And lastly, I've found quite a few videos of doctors talking about various nasal procedures, but I haven't really found a lot of former patients discussing their highly improved lives after these life-changing nasal surgeries. Some kind of paradox...
    Thank you.

    • @Alexxxxir
      @Alexxxxir 2 года назад +5

@@SaiKrishna-yq1ho No, I haven't done it as of this writing and I'm tired of not being able to breath normally, especially at night, when I my nostrils intermittently get clogged, depending on which side I sleep, so yes, I was told I really need it. I wear "breathe easy" nose strips even during the day, but they barely help and the quality of my sleep is greatly affected in a negative way: mouth breathing at night is a pretty bad thing. I used to be hooked on nasal sprays and don't want to go back to them again.
And by not answering my questions re: E.N.S. the doctor in the video only reinforced my beliefs in the validity of my concerns... :-(
Interestingly, I learned about some Indian substance that is used to apply internally in the nose to shrink the enlarged turbinates, but haven't found someone from India, who'd help me to learn further about it, as I am not familiar with some terms they used in the article.

Depends on what happens without the spray... I would say, stay on the spray till you get a proper allergy panel completed... Then start on shots or drops for 3-5yrs... problem solved hopefully.... If you have a deviated septum or anatomical issues, polyps, etc..., then that is where surgery comes into play. Again, it all depends on what happens without your spray... if it's not too bad you could consider having them open the cavities a bit via balloon or however... but I would have a consult to discuss.

I am 63 and very healthy.. pretty much got sick...6 months ago i got covid..lungs cleared up but i have had a horrible sinus infection yellow /green discharge post nasel drip is non stop....i hate life now...I never had any sinus issues.. finally had a ct scan and saw a specialist... he took a sample and hopefully in a few days he will get me the best meds for whatever i have... My ct scan showed all my upper full and my right or it may be my left cheek sinus full of this nasty crap..doctor said my sinus openings are to small. i use the special bottle to wash them out daily...it does not matter if i flush this crap out for 5 mins or an hour...it just never stops... If there is anyone reading this that has had similar issue please comment... Learning about this issue and understanding how to fix it is the light at the end of this very depressing situation... thanks

Hi friend. Im 37 year old male. I had covid april and may. Covid is gone, fever is gone, lungs cleared up. But i am left with this thick muccus and sinus infection due to covid. Covid hijacked our immune system and convinced it that it needed more histamine to thicken the mucous to get the pathogen covid virus trapped and expelled out of the body. Problem is the muccuss is too thick and too sticky to pass out the nasal.
I have been using allergy medicine anti histamine loratadine 20mg a day, a nasal spray apo fluticasone corticosteroid twice a day. And salt water flush with netty pot 2-4 times a day.
If you have access to the ocean i highly recommend getting more vitamin SEA. The salt is the only thing that can open and clean the nasal passages. You need to get the salt water way up into the sinus cavity and then blow the water out the nose. Do this gently over and over again. Instantly the salt starts to break down the congestion and relieve sinus and fore head pressure.

      @annonymoushuman25 2 года назад

I also hear nitrous oxide can help open the breathing passageways and undo the cytokyne storm that covid does to our immune system putting it into overdrive creating all the excess muccuss that we are drowning in

CA they cat scanned her gave her a morphine shot sent her home with I forgot the type antibiotic but get this 3 times over 2 weeks cat scan showed everything was clear. We got in to see a Doc like this one who had a simple X-Ray. He took a Caldwell and Waters X-ray and it showed masive infection. (mother in law was so ill by then she literally wanted to die) . Cat scan showd clear Xray showed masive infection. Changed Antibiotics and She was OK in a few days. I will never know if the cat scanner was set to wrong settings or if radiologist was a idiot or what. The Xray did far better in this case.

Surgery after only one visit. There is a balloon therapy that can be performed in office. Less risk and if symptoms reoccur it’s a simple procedure to have again. Many have a return of symptoms after an actual hospital surgery . Anesthesia is a risk for any age. Informed consent is very important.

You look honest. I can’t think you would not advise the patient prior to surgery exactly what you will be doing but the majority of surgeons don’t.

I was unable to sleep at night and I I did manage to sleep I waa waking up in the middle of the night in panic with my mouth extremely dry that it felt like there was a knife inside.
I sneezed more than 100 times a day and living was becoming unbearable 😢
I have been using the antihistamines and that help a little… after the ct scan the dr told me that I have a issue with my nose septum and some really swollen parts that could only help with surgery.
I just had a call from the hospital to let me know that I’m reaching the top of the list and I’m having a consultation and tests soon to arrange for surgery. I’m actually so scared to go ahead😢
Does having a surgery really improves my breathing? Thank you so much

Several cysts in my body had developed MRSA. Now 2.5 years no more of any cysts.
I use my netipot equal part salt and baking soda morning and night and after 53 years of serious upper respiratory and sinus infections, I don’t get them anymore

He recommends surgery because an infection is observed on the side where the molar was extracted. Observation shows that the infection must have been there before the tooth extraction, (at least this is my gut feeling). A cat scan verified the infection. I do not have any discharge from either nostril. I always seem to be the one selected for these strange cases. Hoping for the best...

I had a septoplasty. It helped a lot. My ENT did not break and reset my nose as every online video seemed to suggest. A few years later, an allergist looked into my nose and said, "Your septum is really curvy." Uh... what?
I asked this same ENT if there was a surgery to cut back on post-nasal drip. He said the risks outway the benefits, and that they're often not very effective.
    Thoughts?
I get a lot of sinus headaches--or at least, almost all my headaches are on my forehead, some lower than others. I've thought about having a CT scan.
As a side note, if COVID can get somewhat under control, which doesn't seem to be the case in some areas, I plan on going back to allergy shots.

I have had 3 surgeries but still continue to have sinuses dripping mostly infected sinuses after every 2 months or so. I'm also asthmatic and hence the Dr says it makes the sinusitis symptoms more severe. My question is since I have these recurring sinuses besides using my spray, inhaler, Alecet meds religiously everyday as advised by my Dr but seems not to be helping much. I recently had a CT Scan and the results revealed the sinus mucus fluid is so full from both sides and the forehead. The doctor is anticipating the 4th sinus Op which I'm not sure will solve this problem for good. Want to ask if I don't get this OP what will happen to this fluid. will it dry up with time. Is it dangerous to keep the fluid in there without the surgery. Where will the fluid go? Meantime as I think about it I have been put on Roxithromythacin antibiotic tablets for a month most likely to continue for the next 3 months. I'm also on Telfast and Montelukast Will this help? Please advise its really affecting my confidence especially when the sinus is infected it drops and smells whilst having headaches, itch eye, itchy nose. I feel surgery is not helping me. I do use saline irrigation wash aswell.

Another stranger thing from this surgery now is my nose use to run most of the time but now it's rare to have any mucus. This puzzles me again relating to the dryness. Finally I found a doctor who did an CAT and found a cyst in my left cheek sinus, and my right side sinus was somewhat closed ... he wanted to do the balloon surgery, but couldn't go up the right side and wouldn't be able to address the cyst.
