I can’t believe how well your boards turned out. I had an Alaskan mill and I wasn’t do much better than what you do freehand. Very impressive, you’re definitely one talented individual, an artist with a chainsaw.
Thanks Rich... it takes a little practice but it's easier than it looks. Real trick is to cut mainly with the tip of the saw and try to maintain an even swing always moving the saw back and forth
Your did this yourself, alone. You can't do this without own alot of logic in your mind. I have highest level of respect to you, count on that. You showed us all how its possible, the amount of saving our time if ever wanna do this ourselves one day is atleast 70 %. Somebody in the comments wrote this vid is the best ever, I fully agree. You are a true surviver, and that my friend means you are a person of trust. I hope you could save most of cabin and just transport it somewhere else. You now have IKEA parts 😅
Great build, Love the pup! Hurt the heart to watch a sensational build showing your care and craft then to see you lose it to bureaucracy. You can find another claim to call home.
Wow! that's a lot of work for one man in 60 days, I trapped for over 10 years and built a couple in that time but small 15+20 and that was a lot of work & I was much younger, Awesome job young man !!
Soo much more. It was a balence between big and small logs depending on how far away from building site they were. I had to haul every log by hand from the woods to the site
The whole thing came out great but what I like most is that you made a nice kitchen. I’ve watched tons of videos and this is the first one with a whole kitchen and countertops. 💯
Would love to see a "directors cut/Extended edition" of your time in the Yukon, that being said love the content so far buddy! keep up the awesome work!!
Got jipped in the end but youre still a boss. I know there will be more to come and i can't wait to see it. Im sitting in the middle east right now for work wishing i had some woods near by. Where im at its nothing but dirt and its 128° lmfao. Can't wait to get home and get some quality outdoors time.
This is so gorgeous and you are absolutely right to want to live out in the wilderness you are a wonderful craftsman I can not wait to see you finish!! You are a beast when it comes to doin this!!
Impressive skills, brother! This was a great experience for you. I’m sure. Thanks for sharing it with us. I am dreaming of doing the same thing on my 29 acre remote parcel.
Loved watching this video! I was glad to see that this was actually a large livable cabin, most videos are just a little shelter or maybe a vacation/hunting cabin. I would havee been interested in seeing if the loft upstair could have been turned into a useful space, even if just for the bed and some storage. Likewise, it would be cool if there was a way to mount a flat metal surface on top of the wood burning stove, if even only to have a pot of boiling water, or heat some things up without having to use any other power or gas. Boiling snow for a steady supply of water in the winter also wouldnt hurt, depending on what facilities and such you have already
@@skoteoutdoors isn't it strange how we all technically live in the wilderness on the same planet yet strangers can tell you where you can and cannot build a log cabin in the middle of nowhere?? what a strange and bizarre world we live in
It's nice to know the finial chapter of that exciting super series . It had to be painful at the end to destroy something that you had so much passion for . Thanks for sharing and looking forward the Artic Expedition .
Now that was an incredible build!!! How heartbreaking it must of been to have to end it. But I’m seriously thinking you’ll do it again somewhere else. 👏👏Well done sir! Don’t let the red tape stop ya from doing it again ❣️😊
Wow matt man you can see your heart put into that but keep doing what your doing everything happens for a reason and your doing awesome can wait to see the boat one stay safe
OMG Matty, after all that hard work. It was beautiful and in such a great location. so sad for you. You have so many incredible skills. Keep the faith, you are strong, adaptable and successful in all you do, blessings
We got the same chainsaw, my first tool belt was the same. Spruce and cedar are nice wood bro you have a dream in the woods I have lots of love and keep being happy in your hard work plus I learn watching you work even has a professional carpenter
Sad video to have to make. I was waiting for this one. Super unfortunate that they weren’t able to reason with you to come to a better resolution. Either way, I’m glad you haven’t let it keep you down or hold you back. Your content is excellent, and I hope you keep making it!
I sincerely hope you dont let this setback get you down ! You have some awesome skills and your living the life a lot of us hope to live one day. Take the lessons you learned from this build and make the next one better. Awesome video except for the unexpected ending.
A lot of work, because the trees are high and you laid them near together. But so you have a better isolation, thats smart. I think its nowadays ok to youse a chainsaw, so we don’t live in the 19 hundred. Hope you can enjoy your fantastic work.
That was a lot of hard work. The result was very handsome cabin. I'd like to encourage you to speak during your work. Just your thoughts on the job and considerations. The builder is always above the building. Good luck.
So sad to see that beautiful cabin gone, but not even the government can keep a good guy down. I’m looking forward to seeing an even better build somewhere no one can take it from ya, good luck man, from BC
That was a top notch cabin. To bad our laws aren't the same. Keep moving forward, your happy place is waiting, you just have to find it. Have a great day.
This is an outrage!! All of that wonderful work scuppered by a bunch of resource stealing mining conglomerates who've never done an honest days work in their lives. I hope to see more of your videos in the future and I pray that you will have unbounded success as you certainly deserve it.🌎☀️🌒🌧️
Man I wouldn’t know where to start with something like this I love watching these type of videos but I’ve never done anything in the construction industry and wouldn’t have a clue what ro do but love the thought of giving something small a go
Hmmmm Poles as building blocks is interesting. Composite materials are something id be interested in using in order to build a house to alleviate demand on wood supply. if a pole is capable of being wound as a carbon fiber part it could be ordered in specific lengths and filled with foam for insulation. The Carbon/Fiberglass part would look just like a wooden log as you are using here. Fiberglass and carbon as sheets or lumber to build in the same style is a traditional stick and frame house doesnt work with issues regarding to screwing or nailing and the use of adhesives. A likin log approach would solve a majority of these issues. Poles would be easy to ship and a house/shelter could be assembled in as little as a week with interior to follow.
Now I don't give a dam who you are This is some good material I love the way he done everything. I his method actually changed the way im going to do mine soon Either way wow! Dam good job!!!
The only time I built a log cabin. I used Lincoln logs. It was epic. Why did you remove the bark from the trees? Almost every log cabin I have seen, the bark was left on. You have mad skills!
It's alot simpler to build than many people might think. The reason I take the bark off is to help preserve the logs. Here if you leave the bark on the log and then let the log dry out, over time it will begin to rot. Much much faster than if the bark is removed. Also if the bark is left on, once it begins to dry out the bark will slowly flake off and fall inside the cabin creating a constant mess. Just by removing the bark a bare log like this will last many years, there are more primitive techniques that can be done to these logs to preserve even further also.
That's a sad ending. That cabin was excellent. I can't get over the dog sitting up in the chair. Thank you.
Yes that's Ronnie. He absolutely loved sitting up there. He misses the cabin just as much
We need to start a go fund me for this man so we can get him some land. Keep on rocking in a free world 🤘
Dang... Awesome build tho, & beautiful dog. Great work.
Rock on baby
Where is he located ? I have land in NC
Where's he felling all these trees then. Can't be legal
I agree but we sure as hell don't live in a free world anymore. The last clip in this video is proof. Start the page and list it as the top comment.

Good to see that there are still some tough younger men out there in 2023. Loved the video, can’t wait to build my own one day.
I've been watching a lot of Log Cabin videos lately. This is the best I've seen so far.
Wow thank you, means alot. The internet is full of these type videos now days

It is insane how you did all of that work yourself without giving up. It’s a shame you had to take it down it looks like a nice cabin

I used to fall a lot of trees in my day but never did I man handle trees like you Brother!!! Mad respect ✊
Sad end to the camp. You done such a great job on that man. Seriously something to be proud of.
It was a little but more of a fresh start than anything. The real fun is in the building of it for me anyways
This man took Lincoln logs to a whole new level 😮
Muscles definitely not “just for show” Impressive job hauling the logs as well as the rest of the build!
bahah no sir, thanks and glad you enjoyed it
Those skinny logs caused so much more work! Badass.
Soo much more. It was a balence between big and small logs depending on how far away from building site they were. I had to haul every log by hand from the woods to the site
Fully applaud. That’s craftsmanship.

これらの木は自生して育ったものですか、それとも自然から育ったものですか?
All the trees for this cabin were grown in nature right on site. The logs that were cut down to make space for the cabin were the ones I used to build
Broke my bloody heart to see it gone. Everything happens for a reason and the seasons come and go.
Thank you for this moment of peace and happyness 😊

Building in Alaska wilderness is tough. Good one man.
Unreal man, as a Vermonter i applaud you! Super cool

thank you jb, loved this place but I'm not beat up about how it went down. just keep on moving down the trail
Fantastic work! I hope you marked everything before you took it down for 'easy' reassembly somewhere else! Don't give up!

Excellent job my friend
Well that was heartbreaking. When you said "remove the cabin" I assumed skidding it out of there.
Woulda been a whole other ordeal trying to skid this thing further than a few cabin lengths

And, just little advice: In my opinion, longer video will be even better. Just my opinion
