The Austro-Hungarian Navy or Imperial and Royal War Navy (German: kaiserliche und königliche Kriegsmarine, in short k.u.k. Kriegsmarine, Hungarian: Császári és Királyi Haditengerészet) was the naval force of Austria-Hungary. Ships of the Austro-Hungarian Navy were designated SMS, for Seiner Majestät Schiff (His Majesty's Ship). The k.u.k. Kriegsmarine came into being after the formation of Austria-Hungary in 1867, and ceased to exist in 1918 upon the Empire's defeat and subsequent collapse at the end of World War I.

Whats is sound track to this video?
Your coverage of the KuK was illuminating and I am grateful for your work. Your work is a great addition to that of Drachinifel.
Tegetthoff was 4 ships completed.
4x3 30.5 cm main gun
You didn’t tell the whole story they had big losses in combat against italian torpedo boats
thank you for this video I do owe you one
I like that the cross on one of the crowns is kittywumpus!
Very interesting. Thanks
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
Are you forgetting the loss of the Austrian Battleships "Viribus Unitus" & "Tegetthoff"?
Wasn t Tegetthoff defacto yugoslavien when sunk (in habor) ?
@@alexzenz760 Tegetthoff was not sunk. Its sister ship Szent Istvan was sunk in 1918 on the way to the otranto strait and Viribus Unitis was sunk in Harbor when it was not an Austrian ship anymore. At that time it was called Yugoslavia.
@@bernhardwagner5749 jep, you r right; messed up Teg and Vir. Thanks.
5:00 There's an error on what you said all 4 ships of the Teggetthoff class battleships were built and they were armed with 4x3 12 inch guns (so, 12 total guns not 10) also 12 inch gun is a 305mm gun not 350mm a 350 is a 14 inch gun. Also the Teggetthoff class had a displacement roughly 22k tons not 24k.
I assume you're mistaking the Ersatz Monarch class with the Teggetthoffs. The Ersatz Monarch class would've been armed with 10 (14 inch guns) and had a displacement of 24k tons. However, NO ships of the Ersatz Monarch class were ever built.
Beast
10:35 1914, not 1912.

Another great video!
U-Boot is pronounced U-BOAT.
Some maps would have useful and ship counts comparison to other countries.
Will note for future videos! Thanks for watching and have a great week :)
I hate to say this, but this video is marred by a substantial amount of errors, omissions and inconsistencies.
One example: 11:05.
The Otranto Barrage was a large and complex organisation that was set up by all three the Allied navies in the S-Adriatic/Ionian area: British, Italian and French. Yet only the Royal Navy is mentioned.
And, it was not created to prevent A-H subs from entering the central Mediterranean, but the larger and more powerful German subs, which had a full-size flotilla based in the Bocche di Cattaro in what was then S-Dalmatia (today Boka Kotorska, Montenegro). Even though A-H subs did occasionally raid the central mediterranean, it was from the German ones - more powerful, many of them ocean-going - that came the main menace to aliied shipping in the Med.
One final note: why saying that the A-H navy destroyed three Italian battleships (which is inaccurate, as no Italian battleship was sunk in combat during WWI) and ignoring the battleships that were actually sunk by the Italians, like the SMS Wien and SMS Szent Istvan?
9 Austro-Hungarian Battleships??? I don't think so!
Probably some pre-dreadnought battleships were there with tegetthoff class battleships
Fiume (heute Rijeka) liegt nicht in Italien, sondern in Kroatien!
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
RIP
Anyone else thinks this is a robotic 'AI' voice?
So, the Austro Hungarian Navy was more successful than its disorganized ground forces?.
Yep! Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
The Sound of Music was a propaganda movie. Very little of it was true.
Appreciate you watching and have a great week :)
The Italian navy sunk one of the largest battle 👌 ships 🚢 in the world 🌎, an Austrian-Hungarian naval vessel in 1918!! It is the only time in history that a battle has been recorded sinking!! Forza 🇮🇹 Italia
I hate it when battles sink. Then you have to continue the fight underwater.
