I spent $30 or so on a pair of upholstery shears and they helped out a great deal when i did my boat several years ago. I know your video is old but give it a try for the next go round. And by you some spring loaded clamps along with some "1/4 thick strips of would so you don't marr your carpet where you put your clamps. Good luck and appreciate the tip.
Gee you did that well. Thanks for the video. I'm trying to install decks in an old aluminum boat. Most of the videos don't address the finer points to well but you did.
Thx, that’s why I made it. Wasn’t too many videos on here that addressed lid corners. None that don’t leave a seam all the way down the outside corner.
Something I never mentioned in the video is make sure you got lots of clamps. I used probably16 per lid. And I pre cut the strips of wood to fit inside and out. Good luck 👍
I am happy with the results still looks great after what 4 yrs. Not sure where I bought carpet from anymore. Thinking it was something like, boat carpet.com I used 24 piling
Scary to watch you cut with that knife with your hand so close, I installed carpet for 30 years with that knife and I'm surprised you still have finger tips.
I’m so glad that you took the time to let me know that again 👍 We’re so glad you have absolutely nothing to share, that is even the slightest bit helpful. As I said 3 months ago if you know a better way, do share. Otherwise, go get yourself a nice warm cup of STFU !
Great video, simple, smart with the template, just completed my boat decks, excited to start my lids with this method, thank you for sharing
I sat here chopping up scrap carpet for a minute before I finally went only to look this up.. Awesome information. Thanks for that..
Glad it helped 👍

I definitely didn’t get complacent using it. Never used one before, way sharper than a box cutter.
Doing it all wrong

That’s great, maybe you’d like to share with the rest of us. I made this video to help people. If there’s a better way, I’d like to learn it too.
