I have so much love for Reinhardt's last line "I have been called, I must answer....always." It references back to what his friend said, but it also shows how much he changed truly. The idea that it doesn't matter that he effectively got betrayed, pushed out of Overwatch after all his service, it doesn't matter if it's illegal. He has a duty, he must be the shield that protects, and until the day he dies, he will never, ever refuse to help those who ask for it. God I miss simple heroics like this, so much media these days tends to try and deconstruct/over complicate some things that are just so powerful in their simplicity.
Thats the magic of superman modern media cant seem to understand He is just a boyscout with godly power who likes to do good things because of his parents kindness, and his moder adaptations are always trying to make him so dark and gritty for no reasson
@@DanielFernandez-gv6iy So! TLDR? Widowmaker was the wife of Overwatch Sniper Gerard (I think that’s how it was spelt?) She lets kidnapped. Dipped in purple and turned into a super killer. And starts popping heads. Ana ends up on the other side of her scope, the two in a sniper duel. She understandably has a “What the fuck is Gerard’s wife doing here murdering people?” Moment and gets shot in the face. She survives but for some ungodly reason nobody is told. Things start to… degenerate from here… Reyes and Morrison start getting into spats. That one Blackwatch PvE event happens. Talon infiltration gets even worse. It’s kinda like the whole hydra taking over shield thing in Winter Soldier. But slower and less dramatic Reinhardt’s simple and incorruptible heroic nature made him a bane for the sadly more corrupt members of the organization. So as his years starting racking up, despite being *just* as capable a combatant and operative as always. It’s my understanding they started promoting him out of field duty and into meaningless positions where he literally could do *nothing* and was kept further out of the loop. He (along with Tracer I imagine) were something of a moral compass for a lot of Overwatch as well. So without his influence things got worse. Tldr the Tldr. Corrupt members basically decided his morality was in the way of their dealings and basically took away his ability to do… *anything*? That or they just forced him to retire because of his age in clear defiance of his competence and nobility
Systems like that are always very powerful story devices in video games. One of my favourite instances is from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I won't spoil why, but it really is a powerful moment in the game.
If Hanzo had kept his katana (he left it after he killed Genji) he would’ve beaten Genji in the Dragons cinematic. Hanzo left his katana out of respect for Genji, so he switched to bow and arrow. Hanzo is a better swordsman than Genji, however Genji does have his cybernetics which enhances his movement and overall defensive capabilities. So that would mean in canon Hanzo and Genji are similar in strength, Genji won the fight as he caught Hanzo off guard with him constantly talking about the day Hanzo killed Genji. Have a good day everyone.
A little bit of correction. We know that Hanzo was stronger than Genji with the sword before he killed him(At Blizzcon 2015 it was said Hanzo is probably better, not certain but probably). Genji at the time also led a life of constant partying, playboying and debauchery so it could affect his then skills However Genji skill must've improved since he came to Overwatch and because of cybernetics. Either way right now Genji is probably much better than Hanzo with a sword simply because he improved his swordskills a lot while working on Overwatch while Hanzo completely disregarded his swordskills and didn't train with a sword since Genji's death so his sword skills must've suffered a lot from almost a decade of lack of practice Following that thought, Hanzo right now is far better with a bow than he was with the sword just because he has more practice and experience using and fighting with a bow rather than a sword If Hanzo kept his katana he'd probably be better than Genji with the sword but since he left it completely, as of right now he's at the strongest with his bow
@@Titanfell-d3i I see your argument, and I pretty much agree with the correction. I mainly wrote that comment in reply to them saying that Genji is canonically stronger than Hanzo. I guess I didn’t’ really explain my point very well, which was that they are quite similar in strength. Have a good day my friend.
@@yesyes2720 Nah I realized that you said they're similar in strength, I was just kinda confused because you were talking as if Hanzo is still better swordsman than Genji even though he didn't use his sword for almost a decade which should've reduced his swordskills greatly. At least that's how I read it. My apologies for misunderstanding Have a good duy
@@Titanfell-d3i iirc, while Voice Lines are a bit misty on whether or not they're "true" statements, Hanzo does have an interaction where he says that things would be different if he had his sword.
@@Sassaparilla Yeah but that probably refers to "if I've kept practicing instead of leaving it, it'd be different" It'd be ridiculous to be a master swordsman after almost a decade of lack of practice
Ok i know this is long but. Widowmaker's backstory is actually so damn sad and tragic. in her former life, Widowmaker was married to Gérard Lacroix, an Overwatch agent spearheading operations against the Talon terrorist organization. After several unsuccessful attempts to eliminate Gérard, Talon decided to change its focus to his wife, Amélie. Talon operatives kidnapped her and subjected her to an intense program of neural reconditioning. They broke her will, suppressed her personality, and reprogrammed her as a sleeper agent. She was eventually found by Overwatch agents, apparently none the worse for wear, and returned to her normal life. Two weeks later she killed Gérard in his sleep. Her mission complete, Amélie returned to Talon, and they completed the process of turning her into a living weapon.
Also they rewired her brain so that the only emotion she can feel is when she kills. So it really isn't her fault and there are numerous hints in the game and comics that some part of her is starting to wake up and break the conditioning and she is full of regret and sadness. I really hope they do a redemption for Widowmaker, as you say she is such a tragic character. It hits especially hard when you realize that her intimidating name refers to herself killing her own husband, who she loved very much.
@@jaysalmon3259 Yeah, it'd be nice, but Overwatch isn't exactly what you'd call a story-driven game. Changing the characterization of a main character like that just isn't in the cards.
My favorite theory regarding Mei is that she was only alive because of WInston's call. The system shut down and tried to prolong the power, in its attempt it shut down the capsules 1 by 1, and only stopped because the call that WInston made required humans to deal with it.
I mean thats essentially what happened. they were on the last battery. the only reason she came back was because the call came through and it started up the tank.
@@JayJayM57 programming issue probably. It makes sense for a system to shutdown systems to conserve battery until the Cryo system suffers but it simply wasn't programmed to wake up the inhabitants instead of shutting down. But take that with a grain of salt because this is all a theory. A FAN THEORY!

49:35 You CAN deflect the ult of Hanzo using a Genji but you have to deflect the Arrow itself *before* it turns into the dragons. This means that doing so in practice is incredibly difficult because you have to basically be at point blank range to deflect. Also, Mercy saved Genji who then joined Overwatch until they disbanded and then meditated with Zenyatta for a bit about being a cyborg.
For the Dragons cinematic, Hanzo wasn’t always the “bow and arrow guy.” He wielded a sword like his brother. Hanzo is more skilled with the sword than Genji, but after the events that led to the “death” of Genji, Hanzo surrendered his sword (which is the one that sits in the Hanamura map under the ripped banner) and adopted the bow and arrow.
Bastion's PTSD kicking in the way it did... I've seen it happen to vets I know. knew a guy who went into "combat mode" when 4th of july rolls around. the fireworks in texas start around 4 PM, usually. he would take a second and try to find cover, even though we were in no danger. his brother was worse off. someone was whistling and he immediately took a knee while shouting "INCOMING!". that shit speaks to me.
It’s more of survival and muscle memory. I had the pleasure to serve under great men who were in Iraq and Afghanistan the 1st push. I really got into psychology and remember hearing their stories in support groups or AA meetings. Humans aren’t meant to be in battle for over 28 days if I remember exactly it triggers a survival almost primitive mode in us. Where the mind goes into overload trying to survive remembering everything it’s ever learned, to much exposure is what triggers ptsd and some never recover and remain in fight mode. I pray all those hero’s find peace and am always grateful for those brave men who went throught so much for their country
If you want to find out why the original Overwatch disbanded, then the story around the Blackwatch is what you need to find. Essentially a hit group that would do Overwatch's dirty work in the background, but a certain incident brought those actions to the forefront.
The Reinhardt one is my favorite by far. Always has been. It's the only one that gets me to tear up. The sheer amount of character development and backstory they pack into a few minutes of animation is amazing, really. It shows how in one battle the arrogant, narcissistic Reinhardt was humbled and truly came to understand the meaning of their corps' motto, "Live with honor, and die with glory." He was only in it for the glory and fame at first, but started living with honor and embodying his role as a crusader when he stopped caring only for himself, and set himself on fulfilling his duty to his men and country first and foremost. He became a true hero after that point.
Fact: The Omni robots, specifically the ones you see who are 'free' and have their own will and personalities, supposedly have a finite number. They try to live side by side with humans, but tension between human-omni relations are still high...
Yeah I'm pretty sure the factories that made them were shutdown, hell the one that was in Australia, according to the lore, was turned into Junker town, though I might be wrong about that.
@@isaacturner197 after the omnic wars ended, Australia gave the Omni a a large chunk of land with the factory(called an omnium). A bunch of Australian rebels still angry about the war, attacked the omnium, accidentally blowing it up. It turned the center of Australia into a radiated mad max style wasteland. The ruined factory was turned into junkertown an indeterminate number of years later presumably after some of the radiation died down.
There was an "Awakening" in which all active Omnics became sentient, but the number of these Omnics are finite as any Omnics created after that moment do not have the same sentience.
They were also still confusing Mondatta with Zenyatta thinking there's only one of them when literally in the same scene you can see several other omnics. This was a bit of a nightmare to watch.
I could not speak when the narrator for Dragons was speaking, but that guy at the top right couldn't stop himself once. Such a beautiful cinematic. More talking going on in that one than any other, and it's probably the best one. lmao
It wasn't so much that they ended the Omnic Crisis and then were treated like villains. If my memory serves correct, the issue was that no matter how much Overwatch did, it never seemed to be enough. And when Blackwatch's whole off the records mission brought them into the light, that's when it really went south. They were supposed to apprehend Antonio Bartalotti to bring him in for questioning as he was the at the time leader of the terrorist organization Talon. Reyes (Reaper) killed him instead because he knew taking him hostage wasn't going to do anything since Antonio would likely be released within the day due to his influence. (Though some speculate that Reyes was already tied in with Talon at this point and was getting rid of the leader to make room for 'advancement') Blackwatch was technically an illegal team that worked in the shadows cleaning up messes Overwatch couldn't tackle because of moral boundaries. So Blackwatch killing an 'innocent man' (Antonio went by another name, Antonio Giordani, to the public) and everyone finding out that Blackwatch was a part of Overwatch, really tipped the scales out of their favor to ask for forgiveness.
Hanzo used to wield a sword too, but set it down permanently after "killing" genji. Reinhart had an ability in beta that let him throw his hammer like that but they replaced it. Rein is the last of the Crusaders I believe, and that WAS their castle. Balderich's castle.
Regarding the Reinhardt cinematic (Honor & Glory) though the fighter jets were able to provide some aid, which helped the German military win the battle of Eichenwalde, Reinhardt is the only known Crusader who made it out alive. Balderich's (full name Balderich von Adler) remains lie dormant on the throne to this day out of respect for him. Also, the unit that mortally wounded Balderich was an OR14 "Edina" unit. Orisa is an OR15 unit developed by Numbani 20 years after the Omnic Crisis ended, with OR14s & many other omnic models used during the war ceasing production.
here is a quick thing i wish to say, in the next video you all make about these cinematics it would be very nice for everyone if you pause at any time you need to speak about in-game stuff, you miss a lot of things from the actual lore and characters if you talk when the video is playing, specially about things that have absolutely nothing to do with the video you are watching, i am not sure if you guys have a set time to do these or whatever, but if you have the free time there is no problem in pausing, while i personaly dont enjoy when all of you talk about in-game stuff i get that you do, so pausing when you wish to say something about the game would work out for both sides i believe. Also, there were a lot of moments where the video sound was way to loud, so loud that you cant even hear you guys reactions.
Yes this specifically with dragons and honour and glory there was just so much talking that would've made it impossible to hear both the cinematic and the discussion leading to them most likely be less engaged in the cinematic in general
The reason they had a lot of Tracer v Widowmaker and Winston v Reaper in the early cinematics is because, in game, Tracer was supposedly designed to be the counter to snipers (like Widow) and Reaper was designed to be a counter to Tanks (like Winston).
Lore facts you won't find out in game or from the videos. Reaper is an ex Overwatch member turned rogue and Widowmaker is the wife of an former Overwatch member who she murdered after being brainwashed and turned rogue
I never realized before the reason bastion was so startled by the woodpecker is because it sounded like gunshots, I just thought the loud noise startled him.
Still get's me... "Mac Ready" It's an homage to the movie The Thing, which takes place at an Antarctic research station. Eco Point is also an Antarctic research station. R.J. MacReady was the helicopter pilot played by Kurt Russell.
58:55 The most honorable place for a warrior to be laid to rest is on the field he died fighting on is a story piece that most people don't really understand.
The reason they are treated like villains is because they had a underground group called black watch that handle more serious issues in a more violent way, but one of the missions made one of the leaders kill a crime boss and that news got out to the public, now without context it seems that they just kill people without reason, so people now feared them and made them go offline
I think one of my favorite parts about the reinhardt one was how he was always saying the die with glory part wanting to die a glorious death in battle, but ended up being the one who had to live with honor instead
if you play at the map where Genji and Hanzo had their cinematic, you can find all the arrows that Hanzo shot at Genji. Even the one that went out the front door.
If Genji fought Hanzo using a bow, then Genji would arguably win. But it's stated by Hanzo himself, that he is much stronger when he uses a sword. And I do believe he would win hard-extreme difficulty, cause Genji got some upgrades. And I'm pretty sure the reason he uses a bow now, is because his sword was the weapon that killed Genji. And the sword we saw at the beginning (46:45) was either Genji's or Hanzo's sword. Probably Hanzo's since it's blue
Nope he didnt say that he Said you should have seen me with a sword plus genji trained with it longer hanzo gave it up ih he didnt give it up then maybe hanzo could win but genji obliterates
@@idkwhatusernametoput8538 Hanzo was fighting off genji using a bow as a melee weapon, if it came to sword combat I think hanzo would fold him absolutely
@@idkwhatusernametoput8538 It's true that he gave up the weapon, but that doesn't mean that Genji obliterate him. He could still very well be stronger than Genji. Even when Hanzo used a bow in close combat, he was still giving Genji a pretty good fight. And Genji only used a sword for like a few years longer. His skills improved, but doesn't mean that it could still beat Hanzo. We see that Genji has permanent scars because of his fight with Hanzo in the pass, but almost none from Hanzo is seen. Genji said that it was hard bein inside Hanzo's shadow. Pretty clear that Hanzo was just better than Genji in any type of way. But now with Genji's robotic upgrades, he'd be a much harder fight for Hanzo. But I still believe that Hanzo will win if he was using a sword
@@Benxall It’s nowhere near that easy. I swear people just take any statement and form any old theories on it. Yeah Hanzo said he’s better with a sword than a bow, but he has not used a sword for years. He’s neglected his practice so he’s going to be rusty. Second we don’t know how much stronger. Nothing he said alludes to wether he could beat genji currently with a sword because he was talking about the past. And you once again twisted something way out of context. Hanzo and genji exchanged a few blows and it was clear genji was winning. He literally got one hit when he chucked genji. So stop chucking around baseless takes
First off, I enjoyed your reactions immensely and love these shorts. That being said, I couldn't have been the only one shouting at the screen for you guys to shut the l^&* up while talking during ALL the dialogue scenes. Love the reactions. I love Mei as a character but really hate playing against her. And as someone who’s been playing ow for a while, I personally think Mei should be reworked into a tank, as her ice wall and freezing herself are already good defensive capabilities. Not to mention that in one of the experimental game mode they had Mei as a tank and I did not mind it.
i feel like- i do love reactions to it, but, you can't always hear the lore/information being portrayed in the cinematic itself with so much happening :']

The cinematic in the museum is kinda old and weird because in the beginning during the explanation of what overwatch was, Lucio and Zenyatta were there. Lucio was not in overwatch yet and Zenyatta never joins overwatch as far as we know.
Fun Facts: Zenyattas, and his brother Mondatta, was talking from the 1980 Police album. Zenyattas Mondatta was a huge album from the band; as the song "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" comes from that album, as well as "Don't Stand So Close To Me". Zenyattas Mondatta reached number one on the British charts, and number 5 on the US billboard charts.
I feel sorry for Ruff when watching the Dragons one. Everyone kept spoiling the brother part or rambling on about people being bad at the characters in the game.
The Crusader's armor basically functions like their own burial/grave for when they die. Kinda like warhammer 40k marines. Except in warhammer, even when you're dying or dead, they will still put you in a casket hooked up to machines, and basically put your corpse into a bigger suit of armor, and they pilot it around while basically being hooked up to futuristic life support. One way or another, it still sucks.
In the honor and glory short, where he etched his name into the bar, you can actually look at the bar on the map in-game and still see his name there. Idk what the map is called now, last I saw it had a different name. Maybe that was for the Halloween event or something, but it use to be called eichenwalde.
Since you mentioned maps a few times, lets talk about which shorts take place in which maps. Recall takes place in the attacker spawn rooms for Watchpoint: Gibraltar and Horizon Lunar Colony. Hero takes place in Dorado. Alive takes place in King's Row. Dragons takes place in Hanamura. The Last Bastion and Honor & Glory take place in Eichenwalde. The Overwatch Cinematic trailer doesn't place in non-playable space in Numbani (fun fact: The Numbani payload used to have Doomfist's glove in it before he was added to the game). Rise and Shine takes place in Ecopoint: Antarctica. In later videos you'll see Volskaya Industries, Busan, Route 66, Paris, Junkertown, and Kanezaka.

I think the most overlooked detail in Alive is how, no matter how Tracer seemed to have the upper hand at some point, Widow is still in complete control over the whole situation. You never see her budge or seem distraught by her antics. She moves around with ease like she knows the area more than her, she has planned routes even when surprised by an anomaly. Widow is behaving like and actual spider. The more Tracer moved around in her web the more she stuck herself until the moment of the kill. The exact moment where you see a smile forming on Amélie's face because as she said : "At the moment of the kill, they feel the most alive". It's also brillant screen play with the web showing at the beginning indirectly telling the story before it happens. I left out a lot of details but there is a lot more to be said about how brilliant of a cinematic this is.
Btw, this is DEFINITELY not in chronological order. I'm not sure who said that but yeah lol. Still, to get an full understanding of the the story, watching shorts alone ain't enough so it's fine.
46:10 - iirc, the sword there is hanzo's but the banner behind it with the speckled red slash in it is from their duel. That was the blow that Hanzo assumed killed genji. Hanzo originally wielded a sword as genji did, but after "killing" genji, he swore never to pick up the blade again, hence why he uses a bow now. He also says in game = "As good as I am with a bow, I promise you-- I was better with a sword." That's why the handle of the sword is blue, rather than green, Hanzo's color.
Fun fact, Overwatch was originally supposed to be a movie. But the studio later found out that it was far too expensive, so they made the game instead, and then followed in their movie-making roots and developed these shorts on the side. :)
What do you mean they need remove the freeze from her ult? It's the whole point of her ult and there was no problem with it, therefore they don't need to change it. The only problem Mei had, was the freeze from her weapon. It was annoying and a little OP.
Sooo just an FYI. When theres combat and a lot of noises going on, noone can hear anything what you guys are saying. So either comment after or..idk change your sound settings lol
I dont know why, but i have such an emotional conection with this game!! I cry everytime i watch those cinematics just because i know i live in a time where i can play this game
Hanzo forsook the sword after he thought he'd killed Genji. It's a bit implied that if he were to fight Genji sword-to-sword, he'd win again, but he vowed to never wield it again thus he uses a bow.
The Mei cryo room had a "The Thing" reference "Macready" is the main protagonist of the movie where they were at a research station in the Arctic and an alien that was assuming people's Form was amongst them
17:09 A Bit of a Long Lore Dump (sorry); Overwatch did save the world from _THE FIRST_ Omnic (Robot) Crisis. What we're seeing now is *_a NEW Omnic Uprising,_* which are almost (if not) entirely new factions of robots. But the reason that Overwatch isn't around to deal with this new uprising is because there was a subdivision of Overwatch called *_Blackwatch_* that started as kind of a 'Seal-Team-6' squad that handled the more dangerous, but small-scale missions... But eventually, they started doing missions that ranged from 'morally gray' to 'objectively wrong' and it went against the spirit of what the Overwatch team was supposed to represent. This caused several world governments to take notice, because while initially a 'covert' team, Blackwatch started leaving a larger and larger trail of death and trouble in their wake. This also caused a huge rift within the Overwatch squad, culminating in a fight to the death between Soldier 76 and Reaper at one of their bases... Mind you, Reaper wasn't "REAPER" at this time. He didn't have *all* of his Reaper powers, and was more like 76, a genetically enhanced super-soldier with few evil upgrades given to him by Moira. Soldier prevailed, killing Reaper in the fight, but destroying the entire base and drawing much unwanted attention... ESPECIALLY since AT THAT EXACT TIME there were hearings regarding restricting or even disbanding Overwatch altogether, which Mercy was testifying at on the day of 76 and Reaper's fight. She returned to a destroyed base, with everyone gone (or they just weren't there because Overwatch had numerous bases and outposts across the globe), and Reaper's lifeless body present. The lore hints that she tried to bring him back using her Resurrect abilities, even those he was long past the point where she should have tried to do so... But it kind of succeeded, but because Reaper was basically too far dead, it caused Reaper to obtain some of his more demonic-like powers and attributes. After this, the _Petra's Act_ was drafted and overwhelmingly voted into international law, therein banning any and all Overwatch activity anywhere on Earth... The world's governments just never expected another Uprising/Invasion. -------- I mean, the lore is so dope, but so utterly under-utilized and unexplored that it's sad, because there are SEASONS of material to work with, even with the little bit that they've given us over the years.
42:53 The moment that kid became the coolest big brother in the world lmao 44:20 OW2 is going to have a PvE mode, yes. They released the PvP mode because of pressure. The rest of it is still in the pipeline. 51:55 Hanzo actually isn’t a hitscan. His arrows are just hella fast. 59:00 I friggin love the Reinhardt short. As I'm pretty sure has been pointed out by now, Overwatch was disbanded after the leader of Blackwatch, the black ops division, Gabriel Reyes, now Reaper, went rogue on a mission and eliminated a capture target of high status, leading to the discovery of Blackwatch. This caused controversy which ultimately resulted in Overwatch getting disbanded.
Just imagine soldier 76 is a soldier from the Soldier enhancement program AKA Super soldier. He used to be Captain America and after the fall of Overwatch he became Punisher finding those who brought down Overwatch.
So the thing that's nuts about the Reinhardt cinematic is that, to Seeohknee's point, there actually was a noticeable uptick in Reinhardt's choosing to protect their teams rather than rushing the front line and getting killed after the cinematic came out. Like, the character growth of Reinhardt who was young, brash and looking for glory only to inadvertently cause the death of his mentor really hit the Reinhardt playerbase. Even more so because the map in question had been in circulation for a while BEFORE the cinematic came out; so a lot of them had those questions about who was the guy in the throne. I get especially emotional during their parting words because the last two things Balderich (his mentor) said to him was to Live with Honor and "Be their shield." This comes back around in Reinhardt's behavior and Reinhardt's in-game line that is probably the most repeated is the one when he activates his barrier and shouts "I am your shield!" Also, on Balderich's body being left in the throne, it definitely does give the sense that they treat it as his tomb. The flashback in the cinematic is actually depicting one of the most famous battles during the Omnic Crisis war. The Crusaders (the guys in the big armor led by Balderich) held the city to prevent an omnic advance on Stuttgart. While they managed to hold out and win the battle; a majority of the Crusaders died as a price for this victory. The town was then abandoned from that point so that's why the town looks so run down and overgrown and why Balderich's body is still entombed in the castle.
I dont play overwatch anymore since by the time i got into it the only people really playing were the ones who had been for years so id just get destroyed (skill issue ik) but I love the lore and wish Blizzard would capitalize on it more. The fight here was more one sided because Hanzo is a master swordsman. The bow is not his main weapon. But after he defeated and "killed" his brother, he swore to never use a sword again. So yeah, if Hanzo is using a a bow, Genji is stronger. But with a sword, Hanzo defeated Genji before.
it’s never fully explained in any of the cinematic, so here’s a brief rundown of why overwatch was shut down: two of the founders of overwatch were jack morrison (soldier 76), and gabriel reyes (reaper). morrison led overwatch, while reyes was put in charge of the covert ops division, blackwatch, where they do undercover missions that may give overwatch a bad rep if the public found out. although they fought for the same thing, reyes and morrison had two very different senses of justice. morrison believed that attempting to go off script would only cause more problems, while reyes believed that more drastic and radical measures were required if they really wanted to eliminate evil from the world. there’s an in game cutscene where a blackwatch team consisting of reyes, cassidy, genji, and moira set out to arrest a terrorist under the guise of a trusted businessman. despite having extremely specific and strict instructions to make sure he’s unharmed, reyes knows that it wouldn’t be effective, and shoots the man on the spot. after that, blackwatch’s presence was known, and overwatch’s reputation tanked. the cutscene is called retribution, it’s never included in these videos but i’d recommend checking it out even just off camera, it’s only about 2 minutes. after that, the conflict between reyes and morrison only grew more and more tense. until there was an attack on an overwatch headquarters thought to have killed both of them, and after deeming that overwatch was doing more bad than good, they were forced to disband.
Gonna edit this as time goes on, if I have anything to add. ...Mei wasn't locked because her ult was freezing people, she was locked because people were using her Ice Wall to get out of the map and break the game THAT way.
I personally think this is why family medias been being obsessed over so lately, because they like appalling to that
Thats the magic of superman modern media cant seem to understand
He is just a boyscout with godly power who likes to do good things because of his parents kindness, and his moder adaptations are always trying to make him so dark and gritty for no reasson

How did he get betrayed?? I don’t know much overwatch lore so I’m genuinely curious haha
@@DanielFernandez-gv6iy So! TLDR? Widowmaker was the wife of Overwatch Sniper Gerard (I think that’s how it was spelt?)
She lets kidnapped.
But slower and less dramatic
Reinhardt’s simple and incorruptible heroic nature made him a bane for the sadly more corrupt members of the organization.
“A crusader’s armor is his tomb” it may seem messed up, but it’s their way.

Genji at the time also led a life of constant partying, playboying and debauchery so it could affect his then skills
However Genji skill must've improved since he came to Overwatch and because of cybernetics. Either way right now Genji is probably much better than Hanzo with a sword simply because he improved his swordskills a lot while working on Overwatch while Hanzo completely disregarded his swordskills and didn't train with a sword since Genji's death so his sword skills must've suffered a lot from almost a decade of lack of practice
Following that thought, Hanzo right now is far better with a bow than he was with the sword just because he has more practice and experience using and fighting with a bow rather than a sword
If Hanzo kept his katana he'd probably be better than Genji with the sword but since he left it completely, as of right now he's at the strongest with his bow
@@Titanfell-d3i I see your argument, and I pretty much agree with the correction. I mainly wrote that comment in reply to them saying that Genji is canonically stronger than Hanzo. @@yesyes2720 Nah I realized that you said they're similar in strength, I was just kinda confused because you were talking as if Hanzo is still better swordsman than Genji even though he didn't use his sword for almost a decade which should've reduced his swordskills greatly.

The ruined factory was turned into junkertown an indeterminate number of years later presumably after some of the radiation died down.
There was an "Awakening" in which all active Omnics became sentient, but the number of these Omnics are finite as any Omnics created after that moment do not have the same sentience.

yeah I was disappointed as they just talked over all the good parts
Whole lotta yapping and thinking every omnic character is the same character
They were also still confusing Mondatta with Zenyatta thinking there's only one of them when literally in the same scene you can see several other omnics. This was a bit of a nightmare to watch.
Why won’t they actually just paying attention to the video
I could not speak when the narrator for Dragons was speaking, but that guy at the top right couldn't stop himself once. Such a beautiful cinematic. More talking going on in that one than any other, and it's probably the best one. lmao
I really love how they made Bastion alot like the Iron giant.
(Though some speculate that Reyes was already tied in with Talon at this point and was getting rid of the leader to make room for 'advancement')
Blackwatch was technically an illegal team that worked in the shadows cleaning up messes Overwatch couldn't tackle because of moral boundaries.
I will never fail to be inspired or made teary-eyed by the Reinhardt cinematic. It's a masterpiece.
The most unrealistic part of all these cinematics is in the Mei one where she plugged that USB in on the first try.
The Reinhardt one always gets me. “I have been called…I must answer” 😭😭
here is a quick thing i wish to say, in the next video you all make about these cinematics it would be very nice for everyone if you pause at any time you need to speak about in-game stuff, you miss a lot of things from the actual lore and characters if you talk when the video is playing, specially about things that have absolutely nothing to do with the video you are watching, i am not sure if you guys have a set time to do these or whatever, but if you have the free time there is no problem in pausing, while i personaly dont enjoy when all of you talk about in-game stuff i get that you do, so pausing when you wish to say something about the game would work out for both sides i believe.
Reaper is an ex Overwatch member turned rogue and Widowmaker is the wife of an former Overwatch member who she murdered after being brainwashed and turned rogue

the guy top right kept talking about random stuff wtf
58:55 The most honorable place for a warrior to be laid to rest is on the field he died fighting on is a story piece that most people don't really understand.
The reason they are treated like villains is because they had a underground group called black watch that handle more serious issues in a more violent way, but one of the missions made one of the leaders kill a crime boss and that news got out to the public, now without context it seems that they just kill people without reason, so people now feared them and made them go offline

I feel sorry for Ruff when watching the Dragons one. Everyone kept spoiling the brother part or rambling on about people being bad at the characters in the game.
The Crusader's armor basically functions like their own burial/grave for when they die. Kinda like warhammer 40k marines. You sir are a hero
I NEED A HERO!!!
When they put on the helmet the armor locks and only the one wearing it can open it. So if they die wearing the armor no one can unlock it and it becomes their tomb. That's why he is still sitting on the chair.
bro when he said "hanzo is hitscan" I nearly had a heart attack xD
I understand yall dont know the lore but it bugged me so much when yall called every Omnic including Mandatta a Zenyatta. Zenyatta is the name of the Omnic in Overwatch that has mastered all 8 paths of the Iris
Also yes canonically Genji is stronger than Hanzo
these overwatch cinematics are and will always be fire, even if the game is going under fire.
I love these types of videos cus the reactors always start yapping when important dialogue happens, it's like a skill 😂
43:50 The moment that dude became the coolest big brother in the world lol
I like how they said chronological order but Reinhardt is the older one even if it is just a flashback, then again it is after Winston recalled them
Btw, this is DEFINITELY not in chronological order.
He also says in game = "As good as I am with a bow, I promise you-- I was better with a sword."
That's why the handle of the sword is blue, rather than green, Hanzo's color.
Dude in orange shirt is constantly yapping 😭‼️
Bastion and Reinhardt shorts are my favorite. They are so good x3.
Fun fact, Overwatch was originally supposed to be a movie. But the studio later found out that it was far too expensive, so they made the game instead, and then followed in their movie-making roots and developed these shorts on the side. :)
Maybe with the money they have now, we can get a movie.
Man I miss seeing Winstons message every time I started overwatch. Really hyped you up to win some matches
22:18 I never noticed Sojourn here
Hanzo is a hitscan and you have to aim as genji. I think I got a brain aneurysm from just that one sentence.
He is still in his armor. A crusader's armor is their tomb.
you all talk way too much at the worst times and it has nothing to do with the cinematics
Hanzo forsook the sword after he thought he'd killed Genji. It's a bit implied that if he were to fight Genji sword-to-sword, he'd win again, but he vowed to never wield it again thus he uses a bow.
Usually I’m not a fan of group videos but this one I couldn’t look away I love over watch and the reactions are so cool
The Mei cryo room had a "The Thing" reference "Macready" is the main protagonist of the movie where they were at a research station in the Arctic and an alien that was assuming people's Form was amongst them
17:09 A Bit of a Long Lore Dump (sorry);
Overwatch did save the world from _THE FIRST_ Omnic (Robot) Crisis.
--------
I mean, the lore is so dope, but so utterly under-utilized and unexplored that it's sad, because there are SEASONS of material to work with, even with the little bit that they've given us over the years.
When a crusader dies, the armor becomes their coffin
42:53 The moment that kid became the coolest big brother in the world lmao
44:20 OW2 is going to have a PvE mode, yes. They released the PvP mode because of pressure. The rest of it is still in the pipeline.
51:55 Hanzo actually isn’t a hitscan. His arrows are just hella fast.
59:00 I friggin love the Reinhardt short. I’m a support main, but when I get queued into tank, he’s my man. He’s been beat out by Junker Queen recently for favorite to play, but he’s my OG go to pick for tank.
there is actually an interaction in game with sombra on 2 diffrent occasions
one she says that she has read reinhard files and what happend
and the other where she metions always feeling sad when she enters eichenwald
its a nice touch thought i would mention it
As I'm pretty sure has been pointed out by now, Overwatch was disbanded after the leader of Blackwatch, the black ops division, Gabriel Reyes, now Reaper, went rogue on a mission and eliminated a capture target of high status, leading to the discovery of Blackwatch.
I get especially emotional during their parting words because the last two things Balderich (his mentor) said to him was to Live with Honor and "Be their shield." This comes back around in Reinhardt's behavior and Reinhardt's in-game line that is probably the most repeated is the one when he activates his barrier and shouts "I am your shield!"
Also, on Balderich's body being left in the throne, it definitely does give the sense that they treat it as his tomb.
I was so excited when they announced a story mode for OW2 only for them to scrap it. l get emotional from some of the shorts despite barely playing cause I find the characters and world building so interesting.
the most effort they ever put into this game
Fun fact: Mei's VA wasnt entirely fluent in english yet while recording the short, so that accent is very authentic.
finally. it happened. grabbing my popcorn here, thanks for uploading 8)
The fight here was more one sided because Hanzo is a master swordsman. The bow is not his main weapon.
But after he defeated and "killed" his brother, he swore to never use a sword again.
So yeah, if Hanzo is using a a bow, Genji is stronger. But with a sword, Hanzo defeated Genji before.
it’s never fully explained in any of the cinematic, so here’s a brief rundown of why overwatch was shut down:
two of the founders of overwatch were jack morrison (soldier 76), and gabriel reyes (reaper). morrison led overwatch, while reyes was put in charge of the covert ops division, blackwatch, where they do undercover missions that may give overwatch a bad rep if the public found out.
although they fought for the same thing, reyes and morrison had two very different senses of justice. morrison believed that attempting to go off script would only cause more problems, while reyes believed that more drastic and radical measures were required if they really wanted to eliminate evil from the world.
there’s an in game cutscene where a blackwatch team consisting of reyes, cassidy, genji, and moira set out to arrest a terrorist under the guise of a trusted businessman. despite having extremely specific and strict instructions to make sure he’s unharmed, reyes knows that it wouldn’t be effective, and shoots the man on the spot. after that, blackwatch’s presence was known, and overwatch’s reputation tanked. the cutscene is called retribution, it’s never included in these videos but i’d recommend checking it out even just off camera, it’s only about 2 minutes.
after that, the conflict between reyes and morrison only grew more and more tense. until there was an attack on an overwatch headquarters thought to have killed both of them, and after deeming that overwatch was doing more bad than good, they were forced to disband.
Gonna edit this as time goes on, if I have anything to add.
...Mei wasn't locked because her ult was freezing people, she was locked because people were using her Ice Wall to get out of the map and break the game THAT way. Her ult is SUPPOSED to freeze people still, because it's not her gun. It's Snowball.
