    Hey thank you posting this video. Our car had trouble keeping the idle RPM steady. The RPM needle jumped over 2000 RPM. We did the repair on a 2001 wagon corolla using this method.Took the throttle body of the intake manifold. Then took the "Motor" out hack sawing the 5 sided screws. And changed them to a Philips head screws. No need to take it further apart and risk the caskets. Just use a spray solvent from the throttle body. There is a clear path in the intake manifold side. And spin the shaft. Doing this the junk got loose. And now the motor is able to spin the shaft freely. No coding or tester was needed. Just took a picture were the motor and shaft was located against the throttle body. The two passages are for coolant to make a loop in the TB. To heat it up. You can see the op video car has used only water at some point because the passage way is rusted shut. Again thank you posting. This saved us a lot of garage time. And patience. As here most mechanic's just would have changed the whole throttle body assembly.

    My idle was crazy for a 2002 Grand Caravan - it ranged from stalling to idle of 2000 rpm and everything in between bouncing all over. I didn't think cleaning the IAC valve and throttle body would help much. Your video showed a thorough cleaning, unlike most others that just use spray and let the cleaner run off. I used a toothbrush to get all the carbon off with a spray type cleaner, and disassembled the IAC to thoroughly clean. I couldn't believe that it ran like brand new after reassembling! thanks for the help.

    • @JahanZeb1976
      @JahanZeb1976  10 лет назад

      Tinkerer Dear friend thanks for nice comment. There is some times adjustment on the IAC motor or coil. You may align it carefully after start up the vehicle and putting it in idle. The position you achieve idle speed, you may tight the IAC actuator there. Also it is good that you may lubricate your throttle (Gas) wire and cable as after running long time it accumulates debris which is sticky in nature and creating hurdle in the movement of the wire in the cable and resulting in fluctuated rpm.

    Amazing. Thank you. I cleaned the TB on my Toyota XA but did not open the Idle Air Control Valve that you showed. My issue was not resolved. Now that i have seen you do it I will reopen mine and do it right. Excellent presentation and knowledge. Thanks again.

      LearningZone dear sir, I have finished cleaning my toyota vios 2003 throttle body. But there's a problem with the rpm when the AC is ON rhe rpm going down, when AC OFF rpm going up. Can u tell me what's wrong?

    • @naturafibre7905
      @naturafibre7905 4 года назад

      @@Willy0981 have you find the cause? I think it's about ISCV solenoid coil that can turn a little bit clockwise or counterclockwise against the throttle body, if you see the hole on the solenoid, it can be adjusted, so you can increase the rpm when the ac on by turning the solenoid clockwise (if I'm not wrong). I will try that since I have the problem like you have after cleaning ISCV valve on my toyota vios 2004. My mechanic friend told me it can be adjusted, by turning the solenoid. Greeting from Tangerang

    i just did this on my 2004 Scion XB, it has the same 1.5L engine, and it seems to run smoother at idle now. I didn't have any real bad issues, but watching you take apart the whole IAC gave me confidence that i wouldn't break anything, but those 5 point screws?? WTH! I improvised with an Oscillating Multi-Tool and cut a slot in the screws to use a flat head screwdriver to remove them. upon startup i had to erase 3 codes that appeared P0102, P0113 and P0511 and it is all good. Thank you for a Quick and Great Tutorial. :)

      I performed most of what you've shown, I cleared the engine light problem, and it didn't reappered when I started the engine (but I did not make a realy big road test, so I might have a surprise in 200km). Also the car has started perfectly. That's the fun part.
      At 4:41 in the video, you're removing the throttle body from the car. I can't see what happened when you removed the two hoses at the bottom.
      Should I get worried if there's liquid dropping from those hose when I removed them?
      By the way, there is no white smoke at the exaust when the car is running and my coolant level is ok.
      Any idea?

    • @JahanZeb1976
      @JahanZeb1976  10 лет назад

      Yvan Pelletier Thank you very much dear friend for subscription and happy that my video is helping you. This is what my aim is! There should be no problem when you will remove both hoses from the throttle body as they are coolant lines carrying hot coolant and preheating the throttle body hence fuel air mixture passing through it. the main thing is you should connect them back when you will finish your work. Also take care of you hand not to injure them while removing hoses that I am doing with my hand mostly!
      There is no white smoke and coolant level is maintained, this is good sign. Please tell me in detail your car problem so that I would or anyone else would be able to give you some suggestion to solve your problem. Regards,

      As I asked you before you may test parameters like spark and fuel injection pulses when the engine is hot and reject to start. Then you will confirm which parameter is missing and make some conclusion from where that particular parameter is missing. If you will get something missing then your engine mechanical is OK but dig behind that parameter which is going to miss. Hope you understand my point. Regards,

    Hi thanks for the great instruction. My 2004 corolla sedan is at 240000km. Yesterday without prior warning it started vibrating and idling rough and I couldn't get the speed up past 80kmph. I changed the spark plugs but it still does it. Should the IAC valve clean be the next step? What tool did you use for the 5 prong screws and what solvent do you use? Many thanks

    • @JahanZeb1976
      @JahanZeb1976  8 лет назад

      +Netty Gretty The problem you are stating seems a serious misfire due to any good reason. The best way here is to scan the car using a scan tool. It will ease you job. It could be no spark misfire, no fuel misfire or no compression misfire. I addressed almost all three type of misfire problems in my videos on my channel. You may search my channel for other videos to address your problem.
      The throttle body cleaning part is coming latter to bring your car to nice performance like new. First is to address the other issue like misfire. Hope you get my point. Share your success with us. Good luck. Regards,

    Dear I have corolla x 2002 1.3 2nzfe engine. Earlier its fuel economy was 14 kms per litre in local but now its around 10. I changed fuel pump, injectors, plugs,cleaned throttle, all sensors and catalaytic converter too. Nothing left but still problem is not solved. Checked tappets too. It gives unburdened fuel smell in morning and feels to be low in power on hilly areas. There is no check engine light also engine is in good condition. Plz give ur suggestions. Thanks

    • @JahanZeb1976

      Seems your car is running rich due to some reason. A scanner and a well educated technician in automotive field can diagnose by looking at short term fuel trims and long term fuel trims. Also oxygen sensors data can also help. For engine condition supposition will not do. Better confirm all your engine four cylinders with compression testing. If any of the cylinder varies more than 14psi among them you have a problem in that cylinder. Also any of the cylinder compression may not be less than 100psi. You may watch one of my videos on engine compression testing on my channel. Best wishes.

      Thank you very much dear friend for nice comments. Yes this car I ran for about 150,000 km in last six year. It ran with me giving very little to no trouble but now as I am going to recondition it, it is asking for substantial amount of work and spares. Not its fault but the need. The previous owner had also ran it for about 240,000 handing over to me.
      Your other point about hands protection is very valid. It is not good to expose to solvents ever. I would try to prevent myself from them. Regards,

      Tom OConnor Thank you dear friend for liking the video. If you own Toyota Yaris or any Toyota, you subscribed a right channel. I used the same old gasket as it was in good shape and condition. I used same old gasket on many cars throttle bodies after service and they worked flawlessly. You may check your Yaris throttle body as if it is the same as one I showed here or it is a drive by wire (motorized Electrical type). If it is Electrical motorized type then the cleaning instructions may vary. But you can do it yourself without facing any problem. Regards and good luck,

    the 2 IAC valve screws need to be tightened and a 5-star tip bit is hard to get. A slot in each head can be used to let a flat blade screwdriver snug the 2 screws (you could put a light coat of blue screw sealant on each screw inside flat at the head to hold it well as the screws are snugged with a screwdriver.

    Hi, Thank you for your video. Very instructive. I did clean my throttle idle valve and not sure I did put the black connector at the right place. But my problem is the same. high rpm at idle, but it change when I turn on fan in the car. It could be 1000 rpm with the fan off, but rise to 2000 rpm when I turn on the fan, not always but most of the time. There is nothing else in the car ( with electricity) that trigger same event. Turn on light, hasard, AC, , no change in RPM.
    Not sure where to look now, do you have an idea ?
    Thanks in advance

      The rpm issue happen also with the fan off, it could be revving at 2000 and sometime more, seen 3000 rpm with the fan off. I disconnected the valve idle sensor and problem is the same.
      I've seen situation where I turn on the fan, and it barely change the rpm. I'm really lost.

      Thank you again for your video.
      What I did to test the valve, is to remove, the valve and put a full gasket between the valve and the throttle body. Did a bypass for my water so water doesn't come in the valve anymore. This confirm that my valve is defective and I ordered one. Right now, I don't have the choke and in the morning, idle is rough. But as soon as the temperature of the engine rise, idle is ok and I could turn fan on or off with no impact on rpm. Can't wait to receive my new valve.

    hey LZ, nice Vid. & nice accent btw :)
    I say nice cos you were detailed unlike auth.service guys who just spray on carburetor n valve n clean using rag that even a layman can do. + you cleaned it with solvent in front of us which was cool, & you took care not to dip it inside the bucket solvent instead u cleared it carefully which is normal procedure but I see BUFOONS dip it in solvent or petrol & take it out& charge big -- kudos.
    LZ , please clearly mention the following ;
    - I have rpm changes in idling & engine is heating up than normal before, will this solve it + carburetor setting in Hyundai Atos Eon manual5speed 2012car?
    --will spraying 3m cleaner alone on exposed carburetor after removing just intake pipe do good for a 43000kms car?
    -- is the air intake system need any cleaning spraying technique, besides replacing air filter? (please put video for it)
    -- I will also add fuel system cleaner inside full tank
    --most important, what was the solvent you used in the video for cleaning?
    I feel the above points for FULL SYSTEM CLEANING you are aware of & have videos for same.
    kudos once again..

    • @JahanZeb1976
      @JahanZeb1976  7 лет назад

      Thanks dear sir for liking videos and knowing the facts. I think your car have no carburetor but if may have a throttle body to be cleaned. You may need to clean your throttle body as I have shown here in this video and also I have further more videos on the topic on my channel. You may watch them for further understanding. You can spray any cleaning solvent in the air system. It will not cause any damage or problem. I am using regular car gas for cleaning as it is cheap and easily available and doing awesomely. If you are about to add cleaning liquid with fuel, it also works by I am preferring to clean the injectors outside the car. If you want, you can replace the fuel filter inside the fuel tank. I think I have upload videos on that. Or not then I would upload them soon.

      Thanks. Calibration is required in the end after fixation. For this model it is done mechanical by setting up idle air control assembly to some point where you get good idling speed. For newer models you need scantool to do caliberation. Sometimes you need to fix it and drive car for a few key cycles and its ecu caliberate itself. Stay tuned.

    Unbelievable. Your channel is perfect helping people and educating all over the world. I'm very grateful and appreciate your videos. I have subscribed and I look forward to seeing more of your videos. If you have time, can you answer the following question: I have a 2003 Toyota corolla, automatic transmission, with 145,000 miles that I just bought. When the car is at normal temperature, and I stop at a red light with the car in drive, my idle is at 650rpm and the body of the car vibrates more than usual. I replaced all motor mounts. do you think I can clean the throttle body to take care of the problem?
    My transmission is running fine, but there is a slight vibration when slowing down to stop from second to first gear. Also, I don't think the previous owner changed the transmission fluid. is it safe to flush the transmission and place new fluid?I heard that transmission flushing can make the transmission break down faster when it's a high mileage transmission that hasn't been flushed. Thank you for the excellent knowledge and education!

    • @JahanZeb1976
      @JahanZeb1976  8 лет назад

      +Ken Thanks Ken. This would be a good idea to clean your throttle body according to my instructions. It will may solve your idle problem. Also you may check your car for any misfire if it is there. I have a video on my channel to identify and repair misfire on such car. In case of misfire also the car will vibrate.
      The transmission issue you should only change the fluid and filter and change them a little frequent than the recommended 60000 miles. It will flush the transmission in more safe way than you are doing a regular flushing. Sure there would be chance of failure if you are going for regular aggressive flushing. So better you should avoid that. Regards,

    By the way, I have a problem you may be able to help with. My engine is idling rough and very sluggish + engine management light's come on since last weekend - mileage is 125k now on a 2005 model .I average 20k miles per annum lately so change oil + filter at least twice per annum and use fully synthetic. After watching your video, I've cleaned my MAF sensor + throttle body in situ, using carburettor spray + electric cleaner which were dirty but still hasn't made much difference, so the cause must lie elsewhere. Also changed oil, oil filter + air filter and will be changing my radiator today as well as the lower half fins are badly damaged - I suspect design fault on the lower grille which allows gravel and small stones to impact it. Anyway, my replacement radiator's just arrived. I suspect the culprit is either a blocked injector or failed coil pack which is causing a misfire. Would appreciate your help/advice greatly - Any ideas? Many thanks.
