Hi again, Julia! Thank you so so much for responding to my questions. I was very excited to hear my name!!! All that you shared is truly helpful. I especially found your words about positive attitude inspiring. I am very good at making a mountain out of a molehill when something hurts a little, and I can see that a negative inner voice brings me down further. I also love the idea of observing younger people around me and deriving energy from their movements. I shall be applying this to walking up the three flights of stairs surrounded by teenagers, when I return to my job as a secondary school teacher in a couple of weeks! I can be at my fittest, but then seem to drag myself from room to room at school. I feel like I could write a lot more as I am so enthused by your video, but will hold back and simply say, once again, thank you!
@lindsayraggett6608 Hello Lindsay 👋Thank you so much for your message 💖 And thank you so much for the question!! I enjoyed making the video, and I'm glad it was inspiring 🙏🏻🏃🏼♀️✨️I can make more on inner self-talk as it's very important 👍😊 And yes, watching young people is really helpful. I find - and the getting up from sit to stand and stand to sit are all important movements to be done consciously 😊👍 And I chat about flat tummies and lovely legs soon !! 😂🏃🏼♀️🧡
@andrewbilton5993 Hello Andrew 😀Congratulations on training for your first marathon 👏 that is excellent 👏 I'm really glad my videos are inspiring you- you never know - I might inspire myself to train for another marathon sometime!! 😊 😂🏃🏼♀️We will see !
Extremely inspiring you are thank you. I just turned 61 this year and I’ve been running since I was 24 and I broke my elbow last year which really kind of bummed me out because there was construction and I fell while I was training for a triathlon but inspiring, thank you for the inspiration.
I'm so glad I'm inspiring you - and I. So sorry to hear about your elbow! What a thing to happen! I always have held a belief that I'll find my way to run well again through all manner of injuries over the years !! I think the key is to keep going! And do what you can and try lots of different treatments too - maybe acupuncture might help ? But as I said in the video I find it helps to say 'I don't know how but I know I will find a way to run free again ' 👍😀
Hi Julia, thanks for the stream. It's great as always. My question is : What is your upper body strength regime? Your arms and shoulders have fabulous definition and look great. I'd just be so happy to build up my muscles to the point they can fit my skin again 😊
Hello Kate, Thank you so much 😀💕 I do a few exercises each day including triceps dips and press ups and I go to the gym two or three tines a week for a longer workout... But I'll make a video to properly show you 👍 😀
Great advice on managing those aches and pains Julia. I'm starting to feel the odd slight niggle after a lot of racing the last few months. I had planned to take a few weeks off racing, but a track event has popped up for next Friday and I'm very tempted! 😂
Thanks, I really needed to hear a lot of this! I’ve been diligently doing my exercises trying to get over a hip thing but my attitude I now realise is way too negative and frustrated - I’ll adjust!
@thexrayteam Hi there, I'm really glad it was helpful 🙏🏻😀👍Relaxation even when we've got pain etc is so vital and as I said in the video I've become a friend of pain over the years and see it as a 'process' ! 👍🏃🏼♀️😀
Another great video Julia. I've done a few Friday lunchtime 5K races in Hyde Park organised by Serpentine Running Club which I've always enjoyed. Have always found that Hyde Park seems a little more undulating than Battersea Park. I'm very impressed with what you have achieved in your running career given your spinal injury. I'm a little younger than you (born in 1968) but like you grief was something you kept to yourself and worked through on your own so to this day I always keep my emotions to myself. Maybe not always a good thing.
Hello Geoff, yes - I agree! Hyde Park is definitely more undulating than Battersea! I learnt that it is important to combine the processing and clearing of emotions with being able to look forward and take new steps - and I've spent my life helping people do that! I have another quite new channel. Silence is Freedom - the link is in the description - where I talk about our emotional, mental, spiritual wellbeing! 🙏🏻 Thank you for your appreciation of my video! 😀
Your run this morning was inspiring! 🌟 Your passion for running shines through every step you take. Keep blazing those trails, 🏃♀💪 And thank you for your secrets on how to relieve aches and pains✨
Everybody should know how to look after their body. Not sure 'a tree with leaves" is the best way to make a mental note of where you've hidden your shoes😅❤
I too have a wonky spine from being hit by a car when I was 19, the only thing that holds it together is exercise. I never thought of barefoot running being helpful but I’ll try. I used to do a lot of barefoot beach running as a lifesaver in my 20’s. I also have experience with unexpressed feelings, so that was very interesting, thankyou.
@@Nayz13 Hi Renee, it has definitely helped me - although I'm not barefoot all the time and it's important to take it very slowly 🙏🏻 I think the body cries the tears we don't and sometimes they can be very deep and we're not even sure what it's about - but the concept can allow us to see it as a release rather than a restriction perhaps ? 🙏🏻💕
Hi Julia, good informative video, keep up the good work. The clock in the room, same for me 😊 Born in the same year as you having trouble with sciatica for a year now. Just curious on what exercises you do for relief. Thanks Paul
Hi there, how funny that we both used the clock in the room technique to time runs!! 😊 There are lots of things I do to help the sciatic pain to leave - it might help if I were to make a video for more detail.. But here are a few ideas... I try to make sure when I am sitting that my hips are higher than my knees - that seems to help alot - and how we go from sit to stand and stand to sit is important - being aware of posture. I do a lot of relaxed yoga moves but always with bent knees - so bending forward with bent knees and swinging from foot to foot and then coming up to half way still with bent knees and then going back to bending forward and swinging side to side and then coming all the way up but still with bent knees - that can help relieve the pain I find Also, use a slope board and squatting halfway down and then leading with the arms to stand up . There are many more things I do, so I think it might help to make a video 👍😀
@trevorlangridge Hi Trevor, I might, but I'd need to have run a fast enough ( by my own standards) half marathon and have created to time to train more , which O don't have at the moment 😀😂 I would put my volume up significantly and extend my intervals ie) instead of 5 or 6 x 3 minutes - I'd run 10 👍😀 But at the moment I'm happy stay with 5k's!
Hi are you ever aware of the nada sound I'm aware of this sound most nights when I'm in my bed my mind has quiet I've been on this journey with my yoga since I was 52 now I'm 70 next month 😊
Hi Archibald, thank you for your message 🙏🏻Yes - I am aware of the inner silence - even in activity 🙏🏻I have been on this path all this lifetime and became aware of this when I was 8 and since 18 years old people have sought my guidance 🙏🏻 But right from a young age I was aware that the only thing I must do is ' keep clearing thw dust from my own mirror until I find there is no mirror ' ❤🙏🏻❤️I appreciate your message 🙏🏻Namaste 🙏🏻
I plan on getting my speed back again. I was always competitive and always placing and lately since I broke my elbow. I just can’t seem to get back my speed. Any pointers to get my speed back again so I can get back under a 24.
@triathletenewyork94 Hi there, as long as you're able to run freely again - A session I love which should help with your speed is to warm up then run 1 min faster then 1 min jog then 2 mins faster then 1 min jog then 3 mins faster with 2 min jog and repeat this 3 times . The faster bits will all be faster than 24 pace - I like doing that session on a treadmill to so that you can monitor the pace and run the minute fastest 2 mins a bit slower and the 3 mins a bit slower but still faster than 24 pace 👍✨️
Oh and I'd been thinking about collagen as so many elite athletes I hear take it, for tendon support. For me at 70 , tho not an elite athlete 😅but a limited no. of years to keep running (20 yrrs?😅) I felt i was a good idea. Looked at the product you mentioned...how much do you take each day?
Thank you julia for sharing this information. Do you not ever use barefoot shoes ? as you run a lot barefoot then go to cushion shoes for some races 🏃♀️🙂
@paulanthony812 Hi Paul , I range a lot! And always have ! I love barefoot completely at times and trained as a teenager barefoot on the grass! But I also have merrel barefoot shoes and vibration five fingers, and then I have the vapor fly super shoes to race in, but I also have a pair of New Balance kn between the two!! I listen to my body and my intuition a lot as to what feels best 👌 👍😀
A great share on how mind, body and spirit play both their distinct and overlapping roles. And I too when experiencing pain try to adopt the attitude of how to look after it best rather than letting it dominate, the mindset is so powerfully important 🫶 x x x
I'm sure your positive mental attitude has played a key role in your health Julia, thanks so much for this video.
Thank you so much Geoff 😀 I do think that the way we think makes so much difference 👍🙏🏻
