After almost 8 years of not owning one, It finally feels good to get back into it! Here is a little review to refresh your memory on what were dealing with, current market for the B5's, common issues and , my future plans with the car. My b5 s4 has been nothing but good to me. Going from k03’s to tte550’s on e85, theres not many cars i come across that are faster. Treat these cars nice and they’ll treat you well!

it is ridiculous how fast these cars are even stock.. my S4 B5 I bought stock and it runs like hell... even modern German cars have troubles to keep up... oil change every 10.000km wich is around 6.000 Miles and only 100 octane... KW Suspension and all rubber metal bearings replaced with Polyurethan... in germany we say... das ding is ne kurvensau... wich means something like ... this thing is a curve pig... wich is good ... ^_^
i hate this car... but the love for it is even bigger... S Parts are super rare... even in germany and super expensive... and sitting in the back is an absolute pain in the ass... you have no room...

I’ve owned 1 B5 A4, 5 B5 S4s. My last S4 before buying my new B8.5 S4, it was a fully built stage 3 with RS6 Turbos making around 600 or so 🙏 best car I’ve ever owned

I’ve had a 2000 s4 for 12 years, 80k-175k. Stage 1 chip. You nailed all the issues especially the bumper and cup holder. Literally my only issues on the whole car
Dude!!!!!!! I am so stoked you finally got one again. I been in the b5 s4 game for a very long time and I just accepted the fact that I will always have one lol. You are going to LOVE the b5 after not owning it forever. You will realize what you been missing! These cars are very special and people will soon realize that. Newer cars have ZERO personality or character.

I love the b5 but in all honesty the c4 is better in nearly every aspect.
It is less money, vastly more reliable, has massive potential for power, is extremely well built, sounds great (the b5 sounds great too), handles well, is easy to work on and insurance is less and yes...again, is vastly more reliable.
Not digging on the awesome b5 simply looking at this objectively (and from personal experience).
Thats my take.

Great synopsis. Have had a B5 S4 for about 7 years. Used to do my own maintenance for a long time. Finally took it to a specialist and told them to do EVERYTHING. Ended up being an engine out, turbos seals etc. but now I have the most reliable B5 S4 I’ve ever met. Except for the wipers. They just decided to freak out.
Its very tiring to continually hear that the S4 B5 is unreliable. I bought mine in 2004 (five years old and 68k miles on the clock) and it has now covered 295k miles and has never let me down. I will probably never sell it as I enjoy it to much and it is just so practical: load carrier, perfect winter vehicle, Quattro stability, etc. Sure it requires maintenance but thats true of all cars. I am in the process of replacing the heater core and the A/C evaporator which is a bitch of a job. Personally I think that people tune the f%ck out of them and then are surprised when things start to fail. Stop dissing the S4 B5.
My first car was a B5 S4 back in '06 and I am making it my mission to get one again. Only problem it ever had was me being an abusive driver to it and I promise not to be the same
Ive had a regular A4 B5 with the 2.8, I miss it like crazy and want an S4. I did a ton of maintenance on it and I may as well have bought an S4 in the first place back then. I dont think it would have been too much harder to work on to make it not worthwhile

i bought my 02 b5 s4 automatuc bone stock off an old man for 4k 180k miles not a single problem and 20 years of service records only thing ive had go wrong is brake lines and coolant leak
My B5 S4 has been very reliable for me. Give it the attention it deserves and you’ll be fine.

Guys, someone is selling a 2000 B5 for $5000 Canadian. 120,000 km. Looks great. Jump on it? I feel like for $5000, I an handle any reliability issue and fix it/mitigate it. Great video btw :) I laughed at the "Manual swap that sh*t" haha.

Have owned 4. 2 sedans , 2 Avants. 3 6spd and 1 tippy. Besides a few minor issues like intake rubber boot, typical leaky cam seals and 1 blown turbo, no issues. Is working on them a bitch ? Yes, but that comes with performance. Are they monsters ? HELL YES! So easy to push 500 hp without blinking. Not the great track car due to a very heavy nose, but seriously fun on the street. And built like a Tiger tank.
The best thing about the car is that to fix something on the engine you have to "put the car in the service position"...if you work on the car yourself - that means taking the front of the car off or at least most of it so you can slide it out - or just say F- it and take the whole front off.
If you don't work on your own B5 S4 that "service position" is right in front of the Audi service desk where you bend over! Rock
Omg ive owned my noggy s4 for 3 yrs and never realized or thought of the cup holders under the arm rest! 😂 i only thought the car had 1 cup holder haha is there even room to shift though with a drink in there?

Couldn't disagree more with the initial statements. 50k on my sorted K04 in the last 3 years. It met a tow truck once, when the slave failed.
Do them correctly, and it's a tank. But it takes patience
Well you're 100% right. If these things are kept with the RIGHT WAY, Im very confident it may never even need a tow truck ever. however, due to the nature of how hard it is to work on, 99% of the previous owners didnt keep up with it the way theyre supposed to.

hilarious, couldn't stop laughing... I own a 2001 2.7 bi-turb Allroad... love it... all DIY refurbished, a pleasure to drive, but the C5 in general with larger engine bay better body feature design than the B5, thus easier to work on.. but more of an old man's or family car than a driver's car like the B5. still can't get the old upstream O2 sensor changed out.. need a new trick, or just more patience. someone recently suggested using freeze spray first... than a lot of pre-taps with a small sludge hammer to wake it up... suggestions appreciated...
The S4 B5 Facelift wont blow, its the 1997-1998 after that also 1999-2001(2002) it is bulletproofed = AZB = bad/ AGB = 500.000km(aproofed), we in europe only have the manual, whats good and makes fun i bought mine 6 months ago, Avant in Nogaro with 315xxxkm(197xxxmiles) and the car costed my 5.500 for american standarts this is like you would buy in 6/2022 an Manual/ Avant/ Nogaro Blau S4 B5 for 4.000$
I have replaced virtually everything in my b5 from interior to timing belt/turbos/clutch/fw/starter/etc etc etc this car is not for the weak and broke no offense to anyone
