Elliot I have a question can you explain to me which concentration of the isopropyl alcohol should be used for what and I have some dust between the lens and the screen of my GBA sp 101 is there any way to remove it?

Do a let's refurb on the PSP. I reckon 2004 is retro now.

I bought a used SP about a week ago; the screen has a scratch in it! Its not a big deal though, I plan to replace the shell and screen when I can find some good priced replacement pieces. Awesome video as always Elliot, looking forward to new content!

Hi ive got a gba and im having trouble with it not loading up games and tried cleaning the cart slot but still not wanting to load the games could any help with some advace?

I had the blue one growing up until I cracked the housing dropping it once. I still have it but I swapped the housing with an aftermarket one
Any hints on how to open a Gameboy Micro and clean the dpad? I have one but some keys on the dpad are not working anymore 😖
Great video. Could you do a psp go possibly. I got one recently which has a scratch on the screen but otherwise good condition. Going to replace the screen and probably could do it myself. Your videos are however always so well paced and easy to follow. I know the community would love to see it. 👍🤸

Does anybody know where I can buy one of these for fairly cheap? I have been looking for one for a birthday present and I can't find any good ones for cheap.
I got one of these off eBay for $50 Aussie. The colours were all weird so I went opened it up TRF style. The clip for the ribbon cable wouldn't click back in once I took it out. So I superglued the ribbon cable back (bad idea) I didn't put it in exactly the right place and when I adjusted it the ribbon cable broke.
Now I have an AGS 101 with no ribbon cable and possibly superglue residue on the board, what can I do?

Yes I just did this to mine you just lift it up carefully and making sure not to touch the screen below

That's the exact model I have, same color and all. Mine is still mint though (bought it when it was new and it's been in a protective case the entire time).
I have an issue with a GameBoy SP AGS101. I bought it used and it had a broken screen. I had 2 after market screens which I tried on the AGS101 but they didn't work. First I though the screens were the problem, but I tested them in another AGS101 and they were perfect. I put some isopropyl alcohol where the ribbon cable connects and I got the screens to do something (basically show some colors where the GameBoy letters go). How can I fix this? Have you ever tackled this issue? I really enjoy your videos, but I haven't seen you do something like that.

There are no good aftermarket shells are there? I've been looking for an ags 001 I can case swap with for awhile.

They're all the same. And tbh they feel fine to me, but they're definitely not Nintendo quality.

There’s a ton of em on AliExpress, Wish and eBay. I put a 001 NES style shell on my 101 because the shell it was in, was in horrible shape, there’s one thing though, you need to re-use the hinges of the old shell. There’s a technique to it, and I usually cut the old shell hinges open so that the hinges can easily be removed. Warning; Push them out carefully and when done, put the hinge caps of the new shell on the hinges BEFORE installing them in the new shell, also double check if they’re on te correct sides (both hinges are a diff color). And they only fit in in one way.
Shells on retro modding are pretty nice

i bought my ags 101 for 9€ (without the cable) from a classmate. I did't know about the 101 and 001 thing. I found out like a year or two later, that mine is something special (and more expensive).

Yes but you need mother board from 101 as well as screen
I just bought the same color gameboy but it still has the ags 001 screen on it. I thought in the 3 colors (blue, pink and graphite I believe) all had the newer ags 101 screen.

I was cleaning my gba sp in the sink and lost the backlight button down the drain...
my gameboy charger stopped charging. i check a few other outlets, pressed the light switches, NOTHING. Then i unscrewed the ac adapter. there was a wire that was unsoldered. i pressed the wire against the soldered blob and it started charging. I'm so proud of myself.
I have a very good condition ags 001 that I got for £15 that I want to backlight mod, but I just haven't got the time to mod it :/
i think either a repaint in metallic orange or a new OEM NES Classic series shell would be nice

I’m 11 and watching your videos made me start my game boy collection I all most done
I had lost mine for one night bc I left it in my bunk bed and when I found it and turned it on it had a bout a toe sized circle in the top screen full of dead pixels and I was so bummed because it never got fixed and I basically never saw it again after it went in that drawer in the kitchen
I found my ags 101 at a yard sale a couple years back and all it needed was a new shell. (Not those cheap knockoff shells

You ought to paint the shell. I was given a lead about a pikachu ags 101 and when I arrived at the game store it was a fake shell and it was just too cheap feeling. So I passed on that, especially for 75 US $. I definitely agree that saving an original shell is worth it. I think it’d be really cool to see you paint this shell. Even tho it’s not a display piece 😂

If you are going to clean the power switch that you should desolder the metal shield and clean it from the inside. It's a noob move to do it that way...
