Mr AMG on the GLC63 S Coupé! As Good as a C63?!

- Welcome back to remove before race, and we’ve finally gotten around to test one of the fastest SUVs in the world, AMG’s New GLC63S Coupé!! This particular car is my own, and I’ve covered 7k miles already, so loads to feed back to you!
But first, let’s frame what it is: most people who will look at this will assume the goal was to make a smaller GLE63, the looks will fool you into thinking this too. Hell, your brain will trick you into thinking it’s the same size, a very large SUV: but this is not a small GLE63. Instead you must think of this as the closest thing we have, to a 4 wheel drive C63!!
The GLC is after all an SUV of the C Class, and as such is based on a modified version of the C’s Platform. Has an almost identical interior, It uses this same epic 4.0 V8 musical instrument from the C63S giving 503BHP, 700Nm. But has the car come at the wrong time, just on the heels of the Facelift C63S? And thus how much next gen AMG really is this car? Is it really as good as a C63 saloon or wagon?

The price point for what you get is amazing. I have owned mine for 6 months and this is by far my favorite car/suv. Crazy fast, unbelievable ride and extremely practical.
Put it this way, this guy knows his mercs
He really does, especially when you consider his car history. He's owned so many Mercs over years, many of which have not been shown on the channel.

I just bought the only 2018 GLC63 S Coupe AMG Edition 1 in North Texas. There's only 75 in the entire US. It's beyond amazing! It's yours if you want to review it for a day if you're ever in Dallas. I have my backup Honda Accord. I can send pics if you want. It's a bonkers car!

Great vid. I don't care how much better the W205 C63 drives than the the W204 C63, the W204 looks a million times better. I think I even prefer the interior of the W204 over the W205 too.

That's the problem with AMG and M Division. They always bring the hot performance versions of standard Merc and BMW cars too late to the market, sometimes after, or just as, the facelift version of standard trim is released. I'd prefer the AMG and M division performance versions to be released first or at the very same time as standard Merc and BMW versions. It makes no sense making buyers who pay premium for the best performance versions wait whilst those who've paid far less are already enjoying driving their version up and down.
The problem here is different. The GLC 63 looks dated compared to the C63 because the GLC in it´s entirety is based off the pre facelifted version. Imagine it like this. In Year 1 the C is released then in year 3 the GLC is released based on that C, now in year 4 the GLC will look dated compared to the now updated C, simply because the model- cycles are off-set.
well I think merc don't wait and don't seems to but
bmw always waits for merc to make car's first and then try to bit that as if they don't believed in themselves that's one reason i dislike them they are too childlish. ..look at the E63s it took almost 2 years for them to bring the M5 c which is weird and not impressive. .

Good job man! I own one for 5 months now, driven almost 20k and fully agree with everything you have spoken. It is a beast on the road but you still have a good car for dirty or forest roads if you need ;) I am realy looking forward to load it with snowboards and go to mountains in winter! And also have fun on snowy roads :p You are also right with ´old´ entertainment but personaly I am thankful for analog clusters, with all these hybrid or full electric cars comming soon, I think GLC 63s could by last of its kind!

The C/GLC class interior is looking a bit old now though. Mainly due to the design of the screen (everything else still looks brilliant).
Impressive that the new A Class has the dual screen setup.

The ultimate daily driver
My current 550i and last 3 cars have been BMWs and I would kill to have an interior of the last generation c-class. I'm literally switching to audi or merc next year with an amg or rs model. I can't with BMW anymore they won't get with the times. They won't change like madden when they clearly can and I'm disappointed their ideology seeps into Rolls Royce. They couldn't even debut a newly designed interior with there new $350k Cullinan.
Byron Glass Yes . Bmws are phenomenal looking on the outside but the interior is very dated . In that aspect , they are sort of the ferrari of germany ; because they are clearly doing something wrong but refuse to listen to the consumer .

Motor Trend actually tested a GLC63 S coupe 0-60 and it did it in 3.2 seconds. It's the quickest (gas powered) SUV they've ever tested.

Agree with the interior and lights. Why does the GLC have no clock . Waiting for my GLC now and hope it comes with the facelift. I like the looks but want the new steering wheel and larger display. The rest is the same - not too bothered with the lights but of course will take the new looks.
