- Loud New AMG’s Still exist in the world! Welcome back to RBR guys with a sunny New Year From Abu Dhabi and Dubai! The last time I reviewed the GLC63S SUV, we loved the facelift changes but were left cold by the reduced sound of the exhaust due to noise regulations in Europe.
However from the first turn of this Non-EU spec GLC63S, it was clear that theres a totally different exhaust system and software here! So I will compare this to the pre facelift and Facelift EU version of the car!
In terms of the new changes, those included MBUX, touchpad, digital screens and a more varied exterior design; one we will compare to the previous gen car! There were some mechanical changes too: with all AMG models coming with e-diff, AMG Dynamics software introduced to better vary the suspension and dynamics based on driving mode, and the power and states remain the same with 510BHP and 700NM!
The changes allowed the GLC 63 S to retake the Nürburgring record away from Stelvio Quadrifoglio, with a time of 7.49 meaning it was the fastest SUV on the ring in the world; now Audi has beaten that record with a much more expensive and powerful RSQ8, meaning the GLC is still class leader.
I’ll also show you why the GLC63S is the car to have in the UAE or any other country. Year round usage, clever 100% torque variable 4wd. A few seconds behind the fastest SUV in the world (a much more expensive and powerful car) mixed with the best sounding turbo V8 with the updated MBUX... it’s the most bang for buck any AMG can give you!

I've had two F90 M5s (a 19 plate and a 69 plate). My 19 plate was significantly louder and meaner than my 69 plate - I have BMW trying to diagnose the difference between the two. The 19 plate has all the pops and bangs, all day long, the 69 plate, nothing. I wonder if this is intentional...
What you prefer GLE 63S 2019Or GLC63s 2020? Be honest I know it's hard to say.
I've just bought a new 2020 GLC63s and I'm not happy with the way it sounds at all... I'm currently living in Switzerland. I'm looking into either a Supersprint, RENNtech, or Remus exhaust to improve the sound. I've looked at Brabus but they don't seem to have any information regarding exhausts for the GLC63s.
Australia has poor quality fuel that has high sulphur levels compared to other parts of the world including the EU, the GPF/PPF on the A35/A45s has been removed for the Aus market as a result. The exhaust system is the same and there is commentary that confirms the exhaust will continue to restrict the performance. This video has given me confidence that there might be an improved exhaust note from the Aus non GPF/OPF cars compared to that of the EU cars. Do you know of any sound difference on the UAE A35/A45s?
Can the OPF be removed by a mechanic?

I think it's more noise regulations that are ruining the sound, rather than just the OPF. Ridiculous regulations like the maximum number of consecutive pops/crackles or 4k RPM limiter or max dB up to 3/4 of the rev range.

@@v12-s65 The new facelift F-Type does comply with those regulations. Remember that's only for part of the rev range, 5k+ it can more or less be as loud as it wants.

@@javierdiaz5089 Wrong. The way it works is that the UK will inherit the EU laws after the leave and then the UK can start to bin those original EU laws which UK don't want. So you have no guarantee whatsoever that this will suddenly not apply in UK or that they will opt out from this specific law.
Don't like the OPF but brexit isn't gonna change the fact that ICEU's are on the way out. Quicker you get used to that, the better.

Solution: Brabus/RENNtech downpipes with sports CATs + Valve module = Much better sound, whilst complying with emissions and leaving OPF intact.

Real RockRolla depends on the model of your AMG. But in general between 2-5k USD for the downpipes and around 800 USD for the EVM. Depends where you get it fitted too, but I know for RENNtech you may get a discount if you get your car upgraded at their base in Germany.

Booty Warrior they both sound incredible! I’ve heard a whole bunch of AMGs over the years with exhaust upgrades from both companies, they’re loud and aggressive. Brabus is a bit more muscular and RENNtech is more raw, but either way you’ll be getting a fantastic V8 sound.
Conor i certainly don’t, I think emissions regulations suck. But the sports CATs are a good option nonetheless. You can pass yearly inspections with them, an OPF delete might fail (unless you get the car inspected at a tuning company lol).

Hello Raz, hope all is well! I I too have an infatuation for the utter necessity that is a great amg soundtrack. For the past two years, I’ve owned a GLE 63s Coupe and I can confidently say that even in its stock form it sounds better than any modern day v8. It just makes me so happy that a car can sound that good without being limited in any shape or capacity. Given the fact that you previously owned one, I’m sure you know how insane the upshifts and downshifts are on that car... Have a great new year!

You have no guarantee that the UK will opt out from these laws and regs after leave as UK will basically inherit most of the EU laws and regulations.

Please can you do a full review of the new Trailer Manoeuvring Assist feature of this car? Most reviewers don't even know about it. I should add, it is an optional feature when you spec it.
-edit: Renntech offers the full (with downpipes) or semi Akrapovic System options to be fitted to the GLC. They have just not yet updated their website.

I own a GLC63s AMG here in Melbourne, Australia that I purchased in May'19.
I am very disappointed in this car due to the horrendous wheel skip or crabbing of the front wheels. Originally, when released in 2017, Mercedes had customers sign a waiver recognizing that the problem existed. But customers stopped buying this model, so Mercedes removed the waiver. Now the salesman is supposed to notify the customer of the issue -- but they don't.
Change tyres to continental cross contacts! I'm in Melbourne and was disappointed with this too. Mercedese fitted these new tyres for me at no cost and fixed the problem. Car is perfect
Get Michelin ps4s if you want the best tires you can get besides semi slicks
Put Michelin PS4S Tires on bro, you will have incredible grip in the wet and the dry! No more skipping!
Michelin ps4s are the tyres mine came with from purchase. Had skipping and crabing issues with them. Do you guys have these tyres on with no issues at all??
@@shaunnaoufal2620 I have an A45 amg and when I swapped my tires to the PS4S I was amazed at the performance compared the the other tires that were on it however I never had the issues you've mention, my only issue with the old tires were they just weren't grippy enough for the power. Judging from what the op said I think it might also be an issue with your model of car. If MB has acknowledged the issue I don't think any tires will completely solve it because if the PS4S's haven't solved it I don't think any tire will.
And then we get the new W206 C63s with a 4-cylinder engine. Please kill me.

These stupid noise regulations are pointless. These cars make more of a nuisance filtered than unfiltered, with the stupid warble that replaces what you've shown us in this video.

Imagine if AMG were still producing Naturally Aspirated 6.2 V8 - what would _they_ be sounding like in 2020!
I bet they would still sound fairly good. It’s a large engine after all.
I believe they still produce this engine for the GT3. But it is not a road legal car

Redstar catted fully heat shielded down pipes I believe it’s HSJ200.
No tune necessary and fully emission compliant. Increases sound by 30% from the muffled versions. No warranty void. That’s the answer to your question.
Changing exhaust doesn’t invalidate car warranty. There are plenty of options: frequency intelligence, capristo, renntech. However I wonder if engine mapping is also different in UAE?
It definitely is.
You can't have same mapping on an engine with different emissions regulations.
Even when neither US or EU had OPF, it is pretty likely they didn't have same software.
Manufacturers use to do different adjustments also based on where the car is going to be sold, both for emissions and for hotter or colder climates.
So in this particular case, for sure, they r gonna be different mapping.
However, since engines have more power than what they do stock, they can easily get the OPF version to some extra hp and "reduce" the non OPF ones, then performance and everything is pretty the same no matter where u get it

The US/Canada are unfortunately equipped with OPF filters as is discussed on MBWorld.
Interesting as the N.A Market C43s are not.
I guess you guys can remove them, as they're not even required in the Americas.
I'm pretty sure modern AMG sounds awesome but because of regulations it did not....even before Raz did this video..😎..I'm confident the new A45 sounds like a riot without the regulations..😏
Is there a sound difference while driving? Because I want to hear sound when moving and couldn't care less when revving at a standstill is quieter than usual, as I want to enjoy the sound myself and not show off to others

Except only a few people love this. Majority hate the sound of loud cars and the annoyance it brings. Why should we abolish regulations that only benefit the few? I’m all for noise regulations, there’s no reason for a car to sound that loud.

I much prefer this updated interior with the digital dash and the infotainment screen separate rather than one long continuous screen in the A-Class, E-Class, etc.

Super easy. The only problem is that it’s illegal and if you get caught you’ll face fines. Might be better to get downpipes with sports CATs or a more open backbox, that way you’ll comply with emissions and still get better sound.

Zär Kar RENNtech do and Brabus I believe are working on a new exhaust which will be available soon. Plus they both offer warranties, just in case your manufacturers warranty becomes void.

As a car reviewer I think it would be. agreat idea if you could adress this news to your viewrs. Mandatory PPF installations on all cars due to eu regulations shuting down any sort of engine noie as we knew before is indeed big news of interest for any car enthusiast (your viewrs). Im sure you are aware of this issue however your not speaking about it. This plus the very well adressed changes on the new c63 becoming a 4cylinder hibrid vid you made is of importance. thanks

Why are the AMG models coming to the US following the same EU sound regulations while the AMG models going to other countries are not? It almost makes it feel like a rip off because the US models sound terrible now as well

Yeah it does. It’s a funny one though, when you read online, some say that run in period is vital and others say that pushing the car hard during the run in period is better...lol. So which one is it? 😂
Daniel Sadjadian Yh , the first 1000 miles should be driven with care without sudden acceleration and not going over 4K RPM, it’s also recommend in the Mercedes Manuel. So the main aim is the wear in the piston rings cause they are what determines the health of an engine! Bad piston rings = oil in combustion chamber in future
Dushene Paulusha yeah they even come with that sticker, so there’s no excuse not to do it. Although from what I’ve read, it’s more about running in the other components like the transmission, rear diff, etc. The engine gets tested/run in to an exact at the factory.
I’d done it by the time I filmed. 😅 Unpacking shots taken day one.
From my experience cars that are driven carefull have all kinds of problems and are usually slow. The ones trashed on the other hand live upp to the promised figures. Also, have you ever watched a run in done by a factory? It's not having it sit at 2000rpm to build up sludge. It's max power from startup, endless full pulls
honestly if they just keep up the great engineering and beautiful designing in the future I dont mind going out of my way to change the exhaust to make it louder
Imagine if someone could build some type of bypass of the dpf,cats which you could activate with switch for race track😉. I've seen American muscle cars with exhaust cut off near the down pipes.

Agree that our pre-facelift C63s had the best AMG rumble! Although I absolutely hate the piped in sound from the engine compartment which is why I’ve left the AMG brand for Jag who still have the great V8 sound. Maybe this GLC can bring me back...

As he said in the video at one point, AMG cant afford to make different exhaust systems for specific regions so I doubt that it will have an effect, it would be nice if they were loud but it's unlikely.

Open a company outside Europe, let's say Belarus, Ukraine, UAE, etc. Buy the car on the company, keep it on foreign number plates so the German police cannot confiscate it.

First here! I took the OPF out of my C43 AMG's Performance Exhaust, made it noticeably louder and more sonorous.

i think apr gets you a tune and upgrades wilst allowing you to write in the papers. that the car is louder. thats the only legal way to get a louder car
i never quite understood the low pitch attraction of these type of v8s (i'm more of a high pitch flat crank v8, flat 6, v10, v12 kind of guy), but it does sound quite pronounced. Good job Benz!
They are suppose to have the same exhaust all around the world ?? I don't understand why they got a louder one, but in NA you can'y get a "loud" A45 ??
