I was swimming in the Pacific and saw some of these attached to a rock waving gently in the current. I thought to myself is it a friend, or anemone... :)
Ok Jake, I've seen fish rooms where I've been jealous of, but I gotta say I'm super jelly of your whole fragging area. You got a nice big counter, a tank to hold corals in while you're working, got the bandsaw, just wish I had the room for all of that (darn wife!)
Jake how long can these corals stay out of water without harming them?? Its amazingly beautiful...I have a 4 year old gold torch..its why I'm asking about this , I wasn't trying to criticize you I really wanted to learn, thank you ❤✌ also I meant to ask , mine had a baby...a baby torch came out of nowhere??? Is this possible? How do they reproduce???
fresh collected torches often release fertilized larvae in the aquarium. It's true I could have been a lot more gentle with this colony of coral, but if you saw what they go through from collection to initial transportation, i was using kid gloves by comparison
@@ReefBuildersVideo wow Jake thank you for your reply!!! I can only imagine you've lived this ....I was just curious is all...love what you're doing with your showroom....many blessings
Just curious. Is there a long tentacle and short tentacle torch? Ive had torches where the tentacles are like 4 inches long last time and now i have torches that only have 1.5 inch tentacles. Then few days ago i saw someone post about long tentacle torches and i just thought hmm did i have the long tentacle variety last time and noe have the short tentacle variety? But im not sure if its a legit thing or not. I just bought 3 new torches last week and they all only expand to like 1.5 inches compared to my previous torches which had way longer tentacles
I don't think anyone really knows - all torches are the same species, and the East Australian torches usually retain tight short tentacles while Indo and West Austalian torches get tentacles that are really long, but it's not a given. Strong flow seems to correlate to longer tentacles to some degree.
Joshthebox mine are local. I live in west malaysia and we get them from east malaysia. A stone throws away from indo. But soon i wont be able to get them anymore since the govt is gonna cancel the permits for coral collectors. Not sure if the permit is just for export or for collecting and everything tho
Reef Builders i see. im gonna head down to get more torches soon. I like torches so much for some reason. Theyre selling aussie gold torch frags for 30usd each. May or may not get one. 30usd is alot here lol. The normal torches are 7 usd per head.
hi, it seems that this aussie gold torch is dying to most of the people, do you know why? what parameters must a tank have to hold it? maybe it is an animal that lives in areas of murky water? thank you
That must have been super superglue as mine usually takes loads to get a good grip but as always your channel is really informative and I look forward to every one thanks but I am sure I have seen you frag a holy trail torch in the studio but I could be wrong
You are using a band saw to cut a euphyllia .......? Um I realise you have the hardware there and need to show it off , but a better way to do it is use a screw driver and just put the end of the screw driver between the Branch's and twist ...what I just described could and should be done under water so the coral isn't having to leave it's aquatic world that it evolved in .... close up the coral.as.best you can before you start dividing , just my $.02 ....
I don’t think he’s showing off at all. Breaking by using the method you suggest would create uneven surfaces, rather than the flat surfaces that he needs to easily glue to tiles. Most professional aquaculturist use the bandsaw in the same way Jake does. It works and doesn’t harm the corals in the least bit.
Rest in peace Jake. You’ve influenced many new reefers like me. You are missed buddy.
I love your reefing style. You truly know how to put it all together.

What are those weird little things squirming around on the bandsaw after you drag the coral?
Miss you
Love me some gold torches! Crazy how the prices have gone so high just in the last few years! Could scoop these up for a bill 4 years ago! 🤙😎
Thanks for bringing us along with you while you fragged that stunning golden beast.
Hey jake what is that thing crawling at 7:40 on the saw
Stomata snail
Stomatella shelled nudibranch, my favorite kind of reef critters

thanks mike, it's a work in progress and one day I'll do a tour of JUST the workshop area, once the vision is fully realized.
Great job Jake on the camera work while trying to hold onto the torch. Beautiful looking coral 👍
Beautiful torches Jake. Another awesome video
Très belle vidéo Jake et encore merci !!! 👍👍👍
You're the Bob Ross of coral cutting!
First thing to get dragged at the Reef Builders Studio GOLD TORCH 👍👍👍
Nice work. Couldnt imagine cutting up a piece like that. You made it look easy.
Did I? Woulda been hella easier if I wasn't filming at the same time, but thanks for the enccouragement
I'm really enjoying your channel. I just found you a couple of days ago. Everything looks beautiful!
I like using the 4 corners. It will give the effect that the coral is even bigger once it settles and gets plump
Just the video i have been wanting to see lol thanks bro.
It's nice shot of your right hand
Really loved this video! Do you dip in any kind of iodine mixture after cutting?
Impatiently waiting
And here I get nervous to have my corals even out of the water for any amount of time...
keep these videos coming

Jonathan Lee depends on the locality collected. Indos have longer tentacles than aussies

@@jonathanlee97 going rate for a gold torch is aroun £150-£170 pounds in the UK, and similar bin Europe, way out of my budget lol
What kind of fish was that in the Euphyllia tank with the stripes and yellow tail?
Hi jake love the videos, Here in the uk. Any tips on keeping these Aussie golds as a lot of people have trouble keeping them over here. 👍
Hey Jake I'm in Colorado. Where's your studio man

What band saw do you use for fragging?
Gryphon
AQUASAW DIAMOND BAND FRAG SAW
Please, what are the fish in the tank you placed the frags? Thanks
Hi, Thanks for the great video clips, I am from Australia. How can you safely leave them out of the water when you frag the torches 👍
just try to get the polyp to withdraw as much as possible beforehand, and then don't let it dry out!
One thing I could never figure is how you can get these torches to grow this big as in your tank? I can grow sps but never been lucky with torches.
I'm the complete opposite. Lol torches grow like weeds. Really any LPS
Is the plan to sell-your corals or just for display ? If so where I buy thanks
As my local reefer friends can tell you, I don't sell corals, only give them to friends or trade.
Too bad I live in ft.lauderdale FL 😰
Jake are these tanks tied into each other
Another awesome video! Are you coming to RAP in Chicago next weekend?
so you use ceramic or limestone tiles are they safe Jake...Nice video though. thanks for sharing bro.
i Wish reefing was like that here in brazil.
Lucas Souza quem sabe um dia Souza com Z 🤣
Do you sell corals or juat doing news about reefing?
Just creative and original reef aquarium content
Great video Jake :)
I am new but couldn't see anything for your hand.
Tugger Edinburgh, Scotland
Please send to Indonesia? is Possible?
Can’t believe the hype, just looks like a boring brown coral to me. Maybe I need to see one in the flesh
hey I love your video put me to sleep.
why not just have water in the transport container?
very well don good , I am 21 years old and live in Korea. I like the sea when I am young and I want to work related to the sea.
Hey Jake! Are you gonna be at RAP Chicago next weekend? 🤓👍
see you there
It’s sad to see a big and beautiful colonies cut up. Bigger the better

Hope that it does well for you!
