Great, video, thanks for sharing - what were you using?
I would say to keep the bucks and release the hens. That is what we are encouraged to do here in Utah so the eggs can become more fish for the future. Curious why you would rather keep the hens?
Don't need to know exact location. But what river is that
Hey where did you go fishing
where is this in California?
try centerpin fishing it is a blast
What length and action rod are you running?
Where are you?
Thank you
You should really read about the mortality rate of trout/steelhead. All the time you take with the fish laying in dirty shallow water or even out of the water lessens the chance of survival.
It’s nice when he teaches about the fishs’ biology when mindfully handling so that risk is somewhat justified.
Personally that’s what I like about barbless. Makes catch and release so much easier and quicker for them
@@nomadhomad3685 There's no justifiction for not releasing a fish as soon as the hook is removed. That is unless you're going to harvest it.
What do you do that can improve the chance for survival?
I’d like to add, that the amount of time a steelhead can be out of the water for a picture is 30 seconds maximum.
The picture should be taken with the steelhead still in the net and the net between your flesh and the fish.
Never, ever touch a steelhead with your bare hands because you are removing a special film that exists on the fish for its protection from parasites and diseases...
Also, I only fish for steelhead once every five years, I catch one fish to eat. After I catch that one fish I am done fishing. No catch and release. Why put the fish through all that terror...just so man can get some selfish enjoyment...
If you want to catch and release go fish for striped bass, they’re tough as cockroaches and they’re crazy plentiful.
Happy New Year to you too!!! Greetz from the Netherlands!!!
Thanks for watching all the way on the other side of the world!
Hitting the trinity next week
Good luck!!!!
Just think: on the Smith River, that could have been a WILD steelhead.
Most of the steelhead I get in Adam's spot there have been wild. It makes me wonder if it is because I am using flies and not roe?????
@@bentoutofshape6319 I’m happy to hear you’re getting out and catching some fish. I’m just giving Adam a hard time because I want him to come fish my home river.
Tight lines and Happy New Year!
@@andrewhooper355 and a beautiful river the Smith is! I spend a couple weeks a year in Crescent city. The whole area is a fishing wonderland.
Keep breathing
Hopefully soon!
Inherited my late Gramps's steelhead rod. Need to find a place to use it here. Also inherited his fly rod too. Need to learn to use it.
Hope you can put some big fish on it!!!
Great video, Adam, I'm not sure but check your regulations, I don't think you can continue to fish if you caught your limit, be careful the regulations are very strick, I wouldn't want you to get a fine. By the way, where are you fishing, what river is that.
He didn’t keep any fish, he is allowed to catch and release as many as he wants.
He already had his limit and caught a few more and released them, that's good, but he had his limit.
You are so wrong it’s fucking hilarious. Dipshit. You can catch as many fish as you want. Limits apply to what you keep not catch.
that second buck was beyootiful👌
Can't disagree with that
Great video. That location is about 5 mins from my house.
That is famous spot for salmon fishing as well, Hazel Ave and Sunrise Blvd at American River are packed in the fall.
Yoyoyo! Noticed a few of the Bay area fisherman youtubers have come to Alaska... Have you thought about coming up this way?
Yes! I want to!!!
Happy New Year!
I need to get out there and try for some STEEL.
As always, looking forward to the next one 😎
Happy new year!
Hey I think it’s always good to expand your fishing expertise. If I may suggest something, try fishing for big carp. They’re no good to eat and considered trash fish for some reason but they’re a highly sought after sport fish in the rest of the world and, pound for pound, they fight twice as hard as a salmon. Just a fun fish to catch. Great video as always.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Many people actually do like to eat carp, they are prized in Japan. Because they are a bottom feeder people think they would be bad but people used to think that about crab and lobster too :)
Keep slaying it bro straight up fisherman there , up for a 5 day or more tuna trip on red rooster down south , I got hookup 😁best price best time we read the graph with the captain he's family of mine
Happy New Year! Tight lines!
Happy New Year!
I liked how you kept the fish wet!
Thanks!
Good stuff Adam...There's that Convergence set I like so much.
Thanks for watching!
Hi Adam,
Love your videos, watching you catch all kinds of fish.
But to your idea. Have you ever thought of travelling to Mt. Shasta in Siskiyou county? My friend and I use to camp at Lake Siskiyou and go to all the lakes in the area. Lake Siskiyou: Rainbows, and Browns. Castle Lake: Rainbows, Brook, and Browns. Gumboot Lake: Rainbows, and Brook. Kangaroo Lake (47 miles away): Rainbows. Your kayak would have access to all these lakes.
Take care and be safe.
Thanks for the suggestions! I will check them out!
Beautiful Steelhead, congrats on an awesome start to 2022!
As best I can remember from my late '50 days at Humboldt State College; top line steelhead fishers (likely near where Adam was fishing) would hang their day's catch in the evenings in the shower rooms. But they were all BIG super bright "CHROME'ers; I don't think I ever saw any different colors but shiny CHROME.
Thanks! Happy new year!
Nice man!! Thanks for another awesome video.
Thanks for watching!
Great video as usual. Have you tried centerpin fishing?
I have not, should I???
@@DieHardFishing for sure, 12-14’ rod and centerpin reel. If you have time you might want to look into it, great way to fish for steelhead.
You are a great fisherman. I used centerpin when I used to live in Canada. Im in socal now and do mainly surf fishing. I want to get a sup board and fish for halibut. Anyways, I enjoy your videos
Happy New Year 🎉, I wish they were smart like that here in Virginia with fish like musky, spoonbill or especially invasive snakehead it could be better managed. They do clip the trout though. Nice steelys. I'm a salt water student of yours 👍🏻. A big brown, (over 23 will impress you) I'll be there.
A big brown is what I need!
I’m going up there this weekend for the first time. I’m a tuna fishing guy any technique you recommend.
thanks Beautiful Steelhead
Thanks!
You should come up here to Humboldt for Steelhead Days.
Happy New Year and hope this year brings more fish and great adventures
Do you know a fishing guide up there. I barely got into fishing in 2021. So I really want to get my first steelhead
When is that?
Happy New Year! Can’t wait to see the new video ideas.
Thanks for watching and happy new year!
They look like rainbows?
try for a golden opportunity...
New year New me that means no more skunking eh!
noooo!!!! haha
Penn spin fisher!
You should have kept that fish. Because you killed it. It might have swam away, but it swam away to die. Those steelhead, trout are very fragile.
I can guarantee that fish is still swimming unless someone else caught it
Happy new year Adam, may this new year bring great advetures, may you reach your new goals and hope you and your family receive lots of blessings. Love your videos and will be ready for you next one. Happy new year
Same to you! Thanks for watching!
The lakes in the sierras with German Browns get blown up by campers in the summer time and fishing can be tough. In the fall though after the campers leave I can catch them as much as I want.
Nice!
Look up Wilderness with Amani. He will get you on that Brown Trout.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Well done! Liking the videos recently
Thanks, appreciate the support!
Great video really enjoy your posts. Tell Ensay not sure of the spelling that Tanner Vallejo says hello from Nevada County!!!
Thanks for watching! I will let him know!
“Steelhead fishing”
Like to see you try some catfishing.
Would love to!!!
Brown trout? We have the largest, meanest, hungriest brown trout in the PNW! Come to Montana!!
I would love to!!!
Nice fishing buddy ...I always enjoy the content 🤙🏾
Thanks for watching!!!
Ps been thumb upin every video of yours! Great attitude, awesome job!!!
I appreciate that!
Adam do deep sea saltwater fishing , fish for swordfish
I'm down!!!!
You did a great job
Thanks!
you were on fire, nicely done
Thanks for watching!
Happy New Year! Burbot next!
Happy new year!
Have you ever thought of teaming up with Greg Blanchard to make a delta fishing video ? You guys are both super technical and both really good fisherman I think it'd be a dope Collab
I suck at bass fishing though haha
@@DieHardFishing I feel it , but it would be nice to see you try something a lil different. Maybe in the summer when the bite is really on. Maybe some top water frogging or swim baits .
If you really want to get on the steelhead you should come a little further north into oregon and i will put you on them
Thanks for the offer!
Hey Andrew, looking forward to some great fishing in 2022! Be safe out on the water and all the best for a great 2022!
Happy new year! Thanks for watching!

@@DieHardFishing yea man will be at it tommarow camping out now! Right on!
Ah Steelhead - i hate to admit it but that is the Tastiest fish you can ever cram down the throat - and that is one dandy looking fish - Thank you for sharing
Depends where you catch them
Thanks for watching!
Missed you out there.
dang
happy new year. Where are you fishing exactly?
mill creek near mouth
@@JasonD-yc3oy we live in Susanville Ca. not far away.
@@dbbeilin sorry but it could be American river near Sacramento.
American river, Mill creek (near Chico not Susanville), Big Chico creek, and many more good steelhead waters along Sacramento river
I remember vividly the excitement of catching a 35lb. steelhead on the Sacramento River near Andersen with fishing guide Ben Meeks.
@@JasonD-yc3oy do you mean up by Miller lake?
River rocks are round!
Sometimes...
Awesome vid good start
Thanks for watching!

How much does a sturgeon report card cost?
About $10
@@rainzer0 does it come with a tag?
@@asfishing4647 $9.46 for the tags and it comes with everything. Bring zipties to attach each tag to the fish you keep immediately.
@@rainzer0 thanks 🙏
@@rainzer0 once you catch a sturgeon, can you keep fishing for other fish?
Always great to see people get excited to catch steelhead. One observation, and may save you a confrontation in other regions. If you intend to release a fish, especially a wild fish but redds as well. Get out in knee deep water. Handling a fish in water that’s only inches deep leaves a fish very vulnerable to smacking their head on a rock. Think fish first, shot 2nd. These fish may not be here by the end of our lifetime so we to treat them with all respect they deserve
Appreciate the suggestions!
Great stuff thank you! Fly fishing is more fun btw.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for posting. Would be nice if you could explain your set up and maybe the bait you are using.
Noted!
I caught a 37 inch Steelhead last year with my bear hands 🤭 is that fishing tho?
Only if you're a bear
🤣
Thats a beast!
