  • Piano transcription of the Rose Adagio from act 1 of Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky. On the occasion of her sixteenth birthday, Princess Aurora receives her four (yes, four) suitors, who present her with enough roses to embarrass the Chelsea Flower Show. She rewards them with a number of excruciatingly knee-splitting postures, culminating in an almost impossible balancing act which must be the dread of prima ballerinas the world over. Alas, she ends up marrying someone else, leaving the four suitors with nothing but a hefty bill for the flowers.

Me too!!! The best description of a most silly ballet and the smile of the Composer's ironic genius with a most Sublime music. But, please, pianist: your fingers are not hammers, go easy, soft

so weird hearing this with only two hands. im so used to Rachmaninoff's four hand arrangement.

Rachmaninoff made it easy for us. He probably done the piano duet by himself

Wonderful... love your transcriptions of ballet... if you could do something from the second act of Giselle and something from Paquita or Talisman, it would be great. I will not mention Fille Mal Gardee.. some truly beautiful music... or Pharaoh's Daughter of Pugni.. or some Drigo..I have to see what you have transcribed already , I might be jumping the gun...

Your hands are beautiful....a reflection of the exquisite music of the ballet❣❣❣❣❤️ thank you, and especially for the LA BAYEDERE. Shades music......I play it also....from the SCORE. YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION TO BE SURE. ARE YOU A PROFESIONAL REHEARSAL PIANIST?

Thank you very much, Penny. I've played for opera rehearsals in the past, but never for ballet. The basic piano arrangements of these numbers (including the Rose Adagio) tend to be fairly limited, which is why I decided to have a go at transcribing them for myself, to try and give a more faithful representation of the orchestral effect. Glad you liked it.

I would really like to buy the sheet music! There are ways you can monetize them without traditional publishing. Please, consider so ❤

(+Trisha Kwon) Trisha - it's actually my own transcription. It's all written down, but mine is the only copy until I can persuade someone to publish it. Thanks a lot for your kind words and interest.
