I wonder how they'll do Rain in the sequel. He's clearly remorseful for his crimes so it's up to the writers if they're willing to give him a redemption arc.
It's definitely a unique spin to his new interpretation. No longer being the son of Argos, having a living mother, he's still ambitous but he's surprisingly more down to earth
Interesting how they changed Kahn and Reiko from being cartoonishly evil puppykicking maniacs to simply two people dissatisfied with Outworld's status. The way Reiko says "I swore an oath to protect Outworld!" is interesting, especially since he says it in response to an accusation that his oath was to protect the empress. It's a "does the military protect the country or its royalty?" sort of question. It's the same with General Shao and I love this direction. While they were great as cartoonishly evil psychopaths, it's interesting to see them as deeper, flawed characters who genuinely want the best for Outworld and only rebelled because they think Sindel is wrong about leadership.
You know, Sindel has a point at the end. A longer lifespan means that you potentially see more hardships over the span of centuries. Longevity is not all it's cracked up to be. You have to continuously plan and in some cases, over longer periods of time, from tens to hundreds of years in advance. In the case of immortality, it'd be even worse.
