You need to measure diagonally to make sure something is square . Not top to bottom and side to side. Look it up if you don't agree. Love the videos and your professionalism, very neat and clean installs. Thanks. learning a lot about home theater.
You know you love Dream Media AV if you watch all 47 minutes. Drop cloths, booties and masks show how much your care for and respect your client's homes. Beautiful to see that from a professional AV install company. Great choice of gear for this room.
As a HT Enthusiast, I love the customers reaction. Always a blast to demo and watch movies with friends when they come over, I'm sure it will be the same for this home owner. Great job Dream Home crew👍
Super clean install guys. You guys are true professionals. I am a HVAC guy and an audio guy as well. When you make shit look that easy, you know you got your shit together. Good job brother.
Measuring the screen side to side and top to bottom won't tell you if it's square. Check It corner to corner both ways. If those two dimensions are equal, then it's square.
The toner tool is nice. If you're without one and you really need to "tone-out" a wire to a speaker, tap the bare wire ends onto the + and - of a AA/AAA battery, you'll get a clicking sound out the speaker. AA/AAA are only 1.5 volts so you're way under the capacity of the speaker or the wire.
Looks great, one recommendation for the DIYer use twisted pair speaker wire. The non twisted wire acts like an antenna that picks up too much interference (even from your electric and lights). Using the right wire will benefit your sound experience tremendously.
Hey seriously thanks guys. Badass install. That was really cool to watch., and this is coming from a really old school HIFI geek. Keep up the good work!!!
Hi. I was watching this because I wanted to catch some ideas for a 5.2.2 setup. I don't know if I missed something but this looks like a 5.2. WHere are the other 2 and where they go?
These guys are pros , But im a bigger pro in Audio , working with it for 15 years , so i can tell you , It is wonderful to have Speakers in Wall , that way you dont have Wall reflections from the backside of the speakers , witch is of course out of phase from the front wave , and is real bad , so its good , you can even leave the speaker port in the wall opened so that sounds from back goes out , not staying in the wall . But Speakers dont have to be on ear level , what they should be is aimed at the listening spot . You dont just put them in wall , you aim them . Down and to the left or right . So what should be done here is a kind of tilt towards the listener on side speakers , i guess 2 is enough , no need for center one . Other then that , its prefect .
If you don't know what you are doing , don't be stupid, hire a professional 😅🤣😂. I love Zach's authenticity. He tells it like it is. Very detailed installation of a center channel speaker when you have a stud in the way to notch out the stud. One of your best videos to date. Thanks for sharing.
I loved having to educate the contractors on how av works......which was a benefit working with familiar contractors/ subs ......That and the rockers never roto zipped my hdmi cables when cutting in boxes again..lmao
the centre channel is a bit off ..being ocd i probably would have install the projector before the centre channel.. make sure its square w the left and rights... but otherwise amazing walk through great work!
Why does the projector have to be dead center? My 6050 is about 6-12” off center (due to stud placement) and there is tons of lens shift to get the picture perfectly onto the screen with the projector leveled and square with the wall. I have a 110” screen.
My company installs this system all the time. Not the exact same speakers but screen, projector, mount and remote! 5.2.2 Atmos? Did I miss the height speakers somewhere during the install process?
Oh how I have missed the install videos!!! Thanks for showing the details of the IR using Ethernet!!! Also love all the DIY tips! Great seeing some of the new focal speakers in action. Why do you think the new 300 series doesn’t have a sealed back?
Curious, why aren't the speakers placed behind the screen? My understanding is that a perforated screen allows the sound to travel through and you get to place your screen at the desired height as well as all the speakers. If these customers opted not to do that Im curious as to what the price deifference is between their screen and one that allows behind the screen placement. thx
Thank you for putting together all the details and walking through the entire end-to-end process. This gives a true realistic understanding of what it takes to pull something like this off. Where can I find the details of the equipment that you used for this install?
Matt from the Off the Ranch/Demolition Ranch youtube channels is renovating an abandoned mansion and they are about to put the drywall in, it wouldn't surprise me if he would be interested in a sponsorship deal with you guys to trick out the new house with some goodies. With a couple of million subs he could probably also increase your subs by a lot. He lives in the Bourne TX area, though not around the corner, it's doable. I would love to see you guys working together.
Only thing left to do in that room is acoustic treatment an paint the entire room with rosco tv black paint or black velvet the entire room. I chose rosco tv black paint for my 5050UB, amazing PQ
When you have excess wire with in ceiling speakers, bundle it up and set it aside. It could possibly touch or settle later on on the woofer and rattle. Better to be safe. Love my 6050. It is dead center but as i found out when setting it up, it does a hell of a job keeping a square image when shifting. Great vid guys. Booties for.....some guys?????
One doubt. Why do you keep the front and right wall speakers at the head level of standing person. it should be at the ear level of sitting person, rite.
Great job, to speed up cuts use an oscillating saw and quick change hole saws - they are inexpensive and quick but you need a bit of experience with drill control but im guessing you use plasterboard saw as you can feel if you hit anything!
Hi Zack, my name is Fernando and I am writing to you from Costa Rica, I am setting up my media room with a low budget and I wanted to know your opinion about which projector to buy between the benq ht3550 and the optoma uhd50x for a 136-inch screen, it is in the living room but only to watch movies at night I would appreciate your help in advance
21:00 "This is holding the house up" Me: "Laughing in german 30cm outer and 24cm inner wall made out of stone" tbh everyone has other ways to build a house but bra those are some thin support toothpicks.
No sound dampening in the room. There must be a lot of reverb. Left and right front speakers have to be at ear level and if possible in one line with the center speaker for the best result.
I am building a new home on the Canadian side. I cannot afford what these guys put in their baller homes. I want something under 2k for a living room 5.1 system (in wall). Can you recommend something please?
May I suggest using a 4 foot level to level 120” screen, a 8 inch torpedo level is not very precise for that length of screen. Use the torpedo level for leveling the projector and speakers/grills etc.
Are you putting in another sub is that why the other one is to the left? If they are going to keep just one sub would it be better in the Center just under the Center speaker?
what do you do for sound proofing the room? I imagine with that kind of setup, the neighbours are gonna call the police, atleast in a townhouse scenario
Only thing I disagree on is the banana plugs comment. I love me some banana plugs. Makes life easier IMO and never once had them fall out or cause a problem.
Hey Zack question? I have the Epson 6050ub projecting onto a 150” elite Screens 3D Cinegrey Screen. I’ve heard a red 2 stories about its 4K enhancement. Since a 2 fase eshift. Some people say it’s actually only producing a 2k 4.3 million pixel image.. And some are saying it’s taking 2 1080 image and double them to produce a 8.8 million pixel image. I think it does very good with its brightness to handle the HDR. And I can definitely see a resolution deference. But in your experience is it actually doing 4K or 2K?

100% correct
what is the square ... do you really know it ?

@@Dreamediaav that’s not 5.2.2. That’s 5.2. 🧐
Dolby Atmos 5.2.2 would be 5.(ear height)

Intresting way to check square. “Do it right” lol
the correct way would be to measure it corner to corner diagonally
lol
Awesome video! Have you guys looked into using 4K screen paint instead? We use that for most of our larger areas with projectors.
Fantastic Job
Thank you for you for viewing!

Great video. Just curious as to why the customer wouldn’t put a few extra speakers above for Atmos ?
Very nice to see you guys installing this system. Sweet!!! What is the cost for all of this?
Curious, why mount the L&R so high? Also, why not mount them behind the screen?

Nice video ,super , tell me my douts projecter screen best is white or gray ,pls tell me sir
You should list the speakers and materials used with links.
To measure square, you should measure diagonally from corner to corner.
That is the easier method but the measurements Zach took will confirm that the projector frame is square.

99% awesome.. 1% pending is the finishing i.e. the visible cable of woofer and projector

To check square you measure diagonally corner to corner in an x pattern. If they measure out the same, it's square.
Fun to see the first 4 or 5 post explain how to properly square the frame.... measuring from corner to corner after measuring from side to side...
Also an electronic stud finder would be useful....

What is the room size? Are these focal 100 big enough for this size room?
I’m running a 5.1.2 but my receiver is capable of running a second sub. What’s the purpose of two subs? I’m running a single 15” Klipsch.
Why are the rears in the ceiling?
Is there a name for the paint you use in the room for maybe improve the reverbaration
