Hey my laptop is a victus 16-s1034nf with the Ryzen 5-8640H, I have two questions, does the motherboard have a gen 3 or gen 4 port and if it is a gen 3 port, is the ssd WDS200T3B0E which is a gen 4 is compatible ? Thanks
🫠Regarding your question, the laptop supports both Gen 4 and Gen 3. You can install Gen 4 NVMe in both slots, and it will work fine without any issues. The Gen 3 slot will read the Gen 4 NVMe at Gen 3 specs.

Regarding your question, no you can't my friend the space is very limited, also remember any nvme m.2 ssd up to 2TB doesn't require any type of heatsink, it will not affect the durability nor the performance of the drive.
now if you go with 4TB and over then sure you will need a good heatsink.

Just a question since there's a second slot do I simply install the ssd card and it wont affect my old data and i just have have to have the new one formatted? again thank you because I was gonna get installed in a shop and the cost was so expensive.

🫠Regarding your question, sure, you can add an extra M.2 NVMe up to 4TB in the second slot, and it will not affect the files or Windows. Once you place the new drive, you will need to power on and go to "Disk Management" in Windows to create a new partition on your new SSD, and it will show beside the C:/ drive like any USB storage.

For the second nvme ssd slot what is the pcie gen. The primary one i know is 4 x 4 bu i don't know what the secondary slot pcie gen is

Hi, i wanna know if this laptop support a double sided ssd on its nvme interface. My victus 16 with ryzen 7640hs comes with a 512GB SK Hynix PC801 single sided ssd. Also, it has a thin copper heatsink too.

Regarding your question, no my friend, it does not take double sided chip, you will short the board or break the m.2 jack or the ssd. you must get a single sided NVME.

Hello, I would like to know if NVME SSDs with DRAM memory fit in those ports, since those thicker ones have chips on both sides.
🫠Regarding your question, no my friend only a single sided nvme can be installed, if you force the double sided down you will snap the m.2 jack and create a short. only single sided up to 4TB.
the m.2 jacks are low profile jacks.

🫠Regarding your question, in the "fa" series there is only one NVMe slot, and a space where the manufacturer could have installed another slot, but unfortunately they didn’t. Also, keep in mind that we’ve seen an "fa" model like yours in the shop that did have two NVMe slots on the board from the factory. So, I highly suggest you simply remove the bottom cover and check if you have two NVMe slots.

I would like to know, is there a significant difference between GEN 4 NVME and GEN 3 NVME?
🫠Regarding your question, yes there is a difference on speed but, you will not know the differences unless you have two of then and you want to move a BIG (over 50GB) from one to other. else for programs and gaming you wont know the differences. you can place a gen 4 in a gen 3 slot and it will work fine as gen3.

Hello, I just put a 990 pro 1tb ssd in my victus 15 laptop and im only getting read write speed of about half whats advertised. im wondring if there is anything i can do? Drivers are up to date and its in preformace mode on samsunge software as well as the rest of my laptop. Any thought would be appreciated. thanks!
This laptop has PCIe Gen 3, and if you install an NVMe Gen 5 SSD, it will function, but the SSD's performance will be constrained by the motherboard. It's similar to using a USB 3.0 thumb drive in a USB 2.0 port; you'll only achieve the speeds that USB 2.0 can provide.
you could install the drivers for the ssd to boost the performance to par with connection.

🫠Regarding your question, you can use nvme gen 4 up to 4TB without any issues. regarding the ram if your ram is DDR4 then only ddr4 can be installed,, the DDR5 will not fit into the DDR4 slot.
