    Another killer video Katie! I've been seeing this company appear on Instagram for a while now. Glad to see you share your insight on the product and process. Definitely seems like a good tool and process for understanding how your body may be handling one's diet. I'll also say as someone with allergies the whole "find what foods are affecting you" is a real annoying process.

    My allergist told me that foods that you really eat a lot of can show up as intolerances/allergies. He told me to only avoid them if they caused me problems. It makes sense to me. He also told me that these tests aren’t really that accurate, but I would still like to see if I can find one to recommend supplements and probiotics.

    Hey friend, you should look into FODMAP so if you haven’t already if you’re dealing with bloating after meals. So many healthy foods cause this. Mainly a bunch of fruit! Lol 😂 you know those really healthy ones! But anyways, check out FODMAP’s! It changed my life. In fact, I don’t really have to follow much else.. and it’s only temporary. I find that these tests are only a small guide. I find it’s easier to be in tune with your body and take note of what you’re eating, and then you can create a plan for free. Also, the foods that you eat the most are the ones to cut out first like your almond butter because your body’s tired of you eating the same thing over and over and over in large amounts. That’s the quickest way to get a sensitivity towards it.

    For people who have autoimmune issues and inflammation, it makes sense to find out what diet to follow, as some people do better on plant based yet others actually thrive on the carnivore diet which is contradictory, it’s not a one size fits all and individuaLIZed to your gut bacteria capacities. Elimination diets take so much time, are trial and error and this seems a good way to jump start the diet and nutrients your body needs and is able to absorb and process. If you research the Keto, Mediterranean, plant based, meat based, people rave about results as if they work for everyone, and the science is now so advanced to determine your baseline and what deficiencies, sensitivities,and micro dome make up you’re working with, there are some really good videos about results of studies done with fermented foods and increasing thE diversity OF Gut bacteria, as well as elements blocking the process despite fueling up with certain bacteria promoting foods, it’s complex but some of the Stanford scientists explain it pretty well. It’s amazing stuff and inspiring for people challenged with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions especially since the medications can worsen or mask the symptoms and don’t heal it on a cellular level. Also, many people start with doing both the medications and nutritional recommendations, and need to, to slowly encourage the body to respond and heal the malabsorption, leaky gut, autoimmune issues. You can work with the best of both worlds.

    I Love Viome, they have a great test and food recommendations. but If you buy the test in Canada, you are unable to get the supplements and probiotics that they recommend you because they don't ship them to Canada.
    This was very disappointing, as I need them and I know others here in Canada that do as well.
    They give you rare recommendations that I cant find anywhere else but I have faith that they will one day ship to Canada, and I will be super happy when they do.

      Awesome! Congrats on taking control of your health. Sometimes on the recommendations you have to look a little deeper to find the reason why certain things are on the good/bad list. For instance my fiance got the recommendation to cut eggs from his diet because of excess in choline. However he was taking a choline supplement, so he cut that first and is going to retest. perhaps there is some lectin or compound in the skin of the almond or something that gets filtered out in the "milking" process :) I don't know but perhaps a question worth asking of the viome team!

    1. do you know that the microbiome changes throughout the day?

    Bomb Explode!

    • @katie_moore
      @katie_moore  4 года назад

      Yeah! The question really is... how much does it change? I got to interview Naveen Jain and asked about this very thing. I’m quite skeptical that every 3 months is often enough to test... but a lot of this is limited by the technology and the price. ALSO, we are only looking at the large intestine. Both Mercola and Saladino mentioned they think the bacterial activity in the small intestine would be far more informative to our health. When it comes to micro biome science we are still in the stone ages! But I really appreciate Viome for paving the way. We have to start somewhere!

    • @dannyiskandar
      @dannyiskandar 4 года назад

      @@katie_moore Yup, we have to start somewhere but I want people also to understand the limitations. Idk if people understand the caveats, this is the reason I am a bit on the fence right now with this thing. When you give that sample stool + blood on time t, and it depends on the time of the day ... so it is hard to make an 'absolute' decision based on that time t. From my POV it is better to follow what feels good in our gut and eat as diverse meals as you can within those 'healthy meals spectrum'. And just keep on rotating those 'diverse' meals in our life to get the diverse microbiomes in our gut. Having said that, this test might work for certain people.

    • @sollym7263
      @sollym7263 3 года назад +1

      Agreed, definitely skeptical of these home gut health tests. I do advocate diversity in diet, eating Whole Foods, eliminating regular consumption of highly processed foods as well as added sugar. I Don’t necessarily believe people need to spend so much money buying probiotics and prebiotics as well as other supplements when we can get it all through diet. If I had the money to buy the supplements I’d rather spend a little extra buying most things organic. There’s also foods like Kefir that you can use rather than supplements and can easily be made at home over and over without breaking the bank. Check out “precisione the healthcast” very informative podcast. I’m sure there are plenty other great ones out there to listen to.

    Viome better than Baze? Is there anything Baze provides you that Viome does not?

    • @katie_moore
      @katie_moore  3 года назад

      Baze is more focused on the supplements where as up until recently viome was focused on the diet recommendations. Baze does not do an analysis of your microbiome. They only look at bloodwork so I do not find their recommendations to be as precise. Now that viome is doing supplements they are far more advanced. I have a review of their supplements in the works. They are however far more expensive than baze. I don't think baze does anything that viome doesn't.

    How can a single stool / blood sample predict your odds of chronic disease? These are based on what you consumed the previous day . Anyway the gut micro biome will be disturbed by unhealthy food and drinks, irrational antibiotics and other drugs / diseases affecting the flora. Gut- brain connection has been well known , influencing satiety, emotions and sleep .
    Healthy lifestyle with plant based diet has been the key factor to prevent / reverse major metabolic illnesses. This ensures healthy gut micro biome population as well.
    The VIOME test is irrational , expensive and misleading. The company also promotes supplements for 6 months atleast. Haha, that is what it is about?
    Please dont consider it. Eat well, sensibly, moderately and exercise.

    Yes it doesn’t happen immediately. These issues don’t happen overnight,and trust me I have learned that 90% of depression is caused by leaky gut. Our brains and our gut have a Microbiome. What we eat is so important. We can get those numbers up . Dr Naveen Jain created this. I saw that he reacted badly to spinach,but that’s because it wasn’t what his body needed. Everyone is different. Intermittent fasting is so important. I never thought I could do 14 hour fasting. Now I do 17-19 Hour fasting. I’ve lost weight, but my brain fog is so much better, sheep cheese,goat cheese and milk are great for K2. We need so many different kinds. People are buying the garlic grown in sewer bleach from China. Buy organic or grow your own, Jeff Mara has excellent videos on NDE/ and sulphoraphane sprouts. Your never going to get 35 broccoli in a day so the sulphoraphane is so easy to grow and you can order seeds and containers online. He looks 15 yrs younger than his age,and it’s excellent for gut. Healthy gut = less depression = less medicine = happy life and healthy body.
