    I got myself the Gimbel system from Dji for smartphones, the dji Osmo, and I'm still really impressed by the smothing. It's amazing which job these gimbels performed. The only bad thing on the version from Dji is the prise ond that the app isn't supporting 4k video resolution. I wrote the the support and the told my that they are going to add this feature. I hope this update will be aviable soon.
    However, I really like the system and I would advise it to anyone who is interessted in good video shots.

    • @michaellebor8458
      @michaellebor8458 7 лет назад +9

      ABsolutely not... if you are in the market of buying one of these, you should know what a handheld shot looks like... At no point did I think that comparison is necessary...

    • @thewhitepanda60
      @thewhitepanda60 7 лет назад +6

      Michael Lebor why? Maybe some people know what it looks like, but some of his viewers dont. So whats your problem about that.

    • @michaellebor8458
      @michaellebor8458 7 лет назад

      It's like saying to someone who made a video comparing two different edit softwares, let's say Avid vs Final CUt Pro X, "why didn't you do a comparison with Adobe Premier?".
      The answer is, because it was a comparison between two bits of software, not ALL of the software...
      You could equally ask, why didn't DIY perks do a comparison with a traditional steadicam or a motorised slider, or a mini jib, A DJI Ronin or a Movi, or a drone for that matter...
      The answer to your question, if you want to know the difference between handheld and a lightweight camera gimbal, is that handheld footage would look extremely shaky and awful in comparison. It would also entirely rely on the ability of the camera operator to make smooth movements and that would not be comparing two pieces of tech.

    Nice informative video. No doubt you are aware of this, but for those who don't, there are also 4 axis gimbals that will compensate for the up and down motion of walking/jogging, to a certain degree.
    There are already videos for DIY gimbals out there, but I'd definitely like to see your take on creating one @DIY Perks. Your projects generally have a more aesthetically pleasing look than a lot of other DIY RUclips videos do. Making them a better option for those that still want to have professional looking projects.

    my Zhiyun Rider for the Gopro (Hero 4 Black) works well, but you'll want some panasonic batteries for it as the chinesium ones dont last as advertised, stiil quite a bit longer than a Gopro internal battery when recording 4K, it does come with a small adapter cable where you can plug your Gopro into the arm of the gimbal and use the gimbal batteries to also power the Gopro. All I really need to do is extend the arms a bit so I can mount the Gopro with the larger battery (nearly the same size!).
    I have noticed the heading lock does have some drift, about 1-2 deg per 10 seconds.

    The smooth q also fits GoPro and other action cams. Simply rotate into portrait mode, fit GoPro, if doing any action sports put a couple rubber bands around it in case you crash, triple tap for selfie mode and voila... GoPro is pointing away from you and no gimbal parts are visible in the footage!

    $140 for Smartphone and $670 for full sized models for those that don't care to click the link. I know camera equipment of any kind is usually expensive. the smartphone model seems pretty reasonably priced though. However, I would argue that if you're going to shell out that much money for the full sized one, you may as well gear up with a full sized Steadicam.

    i was thinking about a hack that you can do. unfortunately i dont have the crane so i cant try this myself but maybe you can try it and make a video out of it. as you may know most of the selfie sticks have a quarter inch female down at the bottom (opposite side from where the phone goes). You can use that part to attach some weight and open the stick 1/3rd of the maximum. then you can rotate the head of the stick 90 degrees and attach the bottom of the crane to that part (the gimbal will be inverted and the camera should be close to the ground). this way you introduce a briefcase mode where you are holding the stick and in theory this should reduce micro jitters and increase actual flying time with added comfort.
    i really hope you try this and post your findings.
    great videos, keep the good work
