Norm, the quality of this video is second to none. The opening shots of the roundhouse details are superb. Thanks again for an awe inspiring video of your layout.
I know it’s Norms Trains but it’s more like Norms portal to the past.. Your videography and model making is on another level. All the vintage rail film in the world and yeah I know that was the real world does not afford the chance you do to immerse yourself in the experience of watching every aspect of late period steam. It is as if you created a world where Pennsy’s alphabet roster lives on in their own glorious dimension. Even if they get the 1361 back in steam, or the 5000, they will always have the backdrop of today. You have preserved their essence surrounded by the red brick and cracked gravel mix concrete of their time in amber. I even watch you try things with your 3D printer and am thoroughly entertained.
I'm speechless!! The quality of this vid.. content and video is second to none. Thank you so much Norm for sharing and inspiring. If there was a Model Train Hall of Fame.. you would be in it!👍🙂
Incredible settings, the details... the weathering.... my God you have put forth tremendous skill & dedication in order to achieve this sublime micro world.
My good grief - this is just fantastic and do you know why? It's because nothing is overdone, from the painting, through the detailing to the lighting - it just looks so authentic! Best I've ever seen.
Wow, just wow. This video is incredible. The detail is amazing, even the piled up trash and old barrels here and there, and the dirty sink! I grew up in coal and steel town in western PA. And this video is spot on, that is the way things looked back then. The buildings in the various towns looked like those here. That is exactly the type of RR bridge used. There was industry everywhere next to the tracks. There were a lot of steam engines back then, and they spewed coal dust everywhere. I loved the inside shots too. Wow, a welder? Are you kidding? Awesome and amazing job.
IMHO, the next coolest PRR steam engine to the J1. Beautiful end result to your work on the engines! Fantastic scenery and video work. Appreciate you sharing this with us.
Norm, there is nothing I could add to the plethora of accolades posted here, other than to say that this is another Charbonneau tour de force, your best of the best so far! Thanks so much for what you have brought to all of us in this great hobby over the years. It was super to see you at York. Bear Owen, Broomfield, Colorado.
I wish they had these in HO scale. That’s what’s nice about O scale is that these massive engines finally are brought to life, and other scales can’t compete on that level.
As always, a fantastic video Norm, I can't agree more with any of the comments thus far. However the final shot was by far the highlight for me. I never had the opportunity to see steam on the PRR, but I know for a fact my Grandfather took me to see the diesels many times before The Pennsy faded into oblivion. Thank You for the memories.
Magnificent!!! in every way - the modeling, the weathering, the detailing, the video recording and video editing. A joy to watch from beginning to end. Thanks so much for sharing your incredible model world.
@@danielhemple8649, it was difficult to look for the 2010 version. That one came with the wireless drawbar and improved tooling which included additional separately applied details. 2010 was the last year that MTH Premier steam engine's came equipped with PS2. By 2011 they switched over to PS3. The only MTH Q2's you can find these days is the earlier version from the early 2000's. I have a friend who owns the early version and he was able to pull a 100 car freight train at a train show without any difficulties. Just amazing.
Down to the tools on the racks, stuff on the shop desk, and the flicker of the welder. Just incredible interior detail -- to say nothing of the work that has gone into everything else!
This is the best action video you’ve filmed. The camera placement and editing are professional. You’re on you’re way to being a David O. Selznick , lol
The low angle shots really bring out the majisity of your interpretation of the Pennsylvania Railroad as the epitomy of mid-20th century heavy industry....
Beats all I ever saw ! Makes you forget about the 3d rail. Great camerawork, particularly in the beginning. Splendid, perfectly detailed and realistic scenery. In the middle a bit too much repeating busy traffic shots. Amazing quality throughout !
For the first few seconds of this video, I thought that this was real life and not a model railway. This just shows how realistic this set is. Props, dude.
Norm what an absolutely magical video, love your video's some of the best out there, this is just beautiful so realistic awesome stuff cheers KC Cradle Mountain Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🤝🇺🇸🇺🇸😎🙂👍✌❤
It's the best model train I've ever seen, the worker welding surprised me, the sky looks so real, the bridge, the power line wow, the dad taking pictures with his son waving at the passing train, congratulations, excellent job ! Greetings, Ariel from Panama Central America.
Nice Norm. I need to invest more time and money on the layout, getting it looking half as good as yours. Gotta stop buying engines…….. finally have every class of steam PRR in the 20s to 50s.
Thanks - that is a Weaver model in ABS. I have a couple on the layout, and an MOW version I have yet to set up. They are pretty nice. Kinda tough to find.
I think a really cool thing would be if these trains actually preformed tasks and delivered real goods like say your pencil holder is fresh out of pencils so your train picks up some logging freight cars and takes them where a fresh supply of new pencils are stored and a machine loads each pencil into the cars and the train delivers the pencils like it would lumber that be awesome!
Norm, the quality of this video is second to none. The opening shots of the roundhouse details are superb. Thanks again for an awe inspiring video of your layout.
I agree with this man!!
I thought this was real. It's perfectly shot.
Uy
JD I'll second that comment cheers 🍻🍺
How does norm do those panning video shots in the roundhouse? Does he remove a wall?

Incredible. The welding scene in the workshop is just eerily real. All of the inside shed shots are so real.
you do have one of the best layouts and equipment that I have seen on video
I'm speechless!! The quality of this vid.. content and video is second to none. Thank you so much Norm for sharing and inspiring. If there was a Model Train Hall of Fame.. you would be in it!👍🙂
It would be named after him.
Your attention to the smallest details is incredible! Dont you wish you could hsve seen these bad boys in real life! Thanks Norm!!
That opening shot is stunning norm! I thought it was real for a second.
Absolutely beautiful, amazing and insipiration as ever! Some of the best cinematics you have ever done! Well done, Norm! Truly jaw-dropping!
Awesome video Norm!! Great action 👍
Incredible settings, the details... the weathering.... my God you have put forth tremendous skill & dedication in order to achieve this sublime micro world.
Very cool Norm! You and I must have the same compassion for the old PRR!
Awesome. Both the modeling and the photography absolute first rate.
Incredible attention to detail
Norm, Fantastic!!! Thank you for sharing you videos with us.
Really loved seeing the shot as the train was going thru the frog of that switch.great cinematography.
My good grief - this is just fantastic and do you know why? It's because nothing is overdone, from the painting, through the detailing to the lighting - it just looks so authentic! Best I've ever seen.
One of my alltime favorite vids, Norm. The back shop tour is astonishing!
The sound is fantastic, your roundhouse is fabulous. Excellent workmanship, craftsmanship

Appreciate you sharing this with us.
Beautiful production and layout! Reminds me of when my dad gave me a ride on the last steamer that he was running.
You have a beautiful layout Norm. It truly is a piece of art work. Thanks for sharing.
Wow!! 10 stars for modeling, and filming. Amazing layout and video. Thanks for posting
Very Impressive Norm! Beautiful Scenery and detailing! The roundhouse interior is fantastic.
Beautiful trains.

Thanks Bear, nice to see you at York!
Never knew of this class of engine on the PRR. That tender is massive! Well done and thanks.
Beautiful work Norm. I love going railfanning on your railroad.
I wish they had these in HO scale. That’s what’s nice about O scale is that these massive engines finally are brought to life, and other scales can’t compete on that level.
Very real coming out of the shop, even the sunlight through the shop doors looks spot on...
Good that the weather cooperated, and that they were nice enough to allow you access to the shops!

I still can't get over the turntable and the roundhouse. Absolutely amazing!
The detail on your layout is insane!
Simply outstanding work . Tremendous attention to detail . Thanks for sharing
My favorite PRR steamer of all time. I've got an MTH Premier version from 2010. These things look amazing.
I always wanted one of those and I've heard they have tremendous pulling power

I’d have to say, “that’s pretty detailed” great job 😊
All is so real. I am taking inspiration from your layout. Thanks. Sharad from 🇮🇳.
Lighting is the best , camera angle is the most realistic I have ever seen.
This is jaw-dropping. I’d take watching your model railroad videos over Thomas the Tank engine any day, easily!
Amazing, spectacular, I'm speechless. Thank you for sharing... WOW
I WANT TO BE LIKE NORM! 😆
absolutely incredible buddy!!
WOW. Excellent, excellent video. You are an artist, sir.

Amazing layout.... so detailed and life like.....building this must have taken a ton of time & dedication....
Such amazing details I truly love it I wish I could build a layout with half the details you put in this post and your layout

Norm, great run! Love the PRR. I have a Q2 in my roster too.
Pennsylvania had some weird articulated engines and honestly I like them XD
Great video
These aren’t articulated.
@@shroomzed2947 then what are they cause last I knew the Q2 was a 4-4-6-4
This layout looks so realistic! Very impressive!

It goes beyond modeling , it is historical art
Man that's one detailed roundhouse and layout. Very nice
great modeling and camera work/editing. Thank you!
AMAZING BEST DETAILED TRAIN I'VE EVER SEEN
Nice Norm. I need to invest more time and money on the layout, getting it looking half as good as yours. Gotta stop buying engines…….. finally have every class of steam PRR in the 20s to 50s.
This is an excellent video. Since you did a touch up of #6131, do you have any plans for something similar for your Q1?
It is due for maintenance sometime soon. Will probably upgrade the speakers 🔊 while I’m at it. Might be good for a chronicles vid.
@@normstrains Please do. I would be interested to see if/how you'd differentiate it from the Q2s.
Absolutely awesome layouts & video are so realistic!!
Good heavens! if you only added decent smoke effects, the whole thing would look practically impossible to tell apart from the real thing!
Modellbau auf höchstem Niveau ! Gefällt mir gut.👍👍
Thanks a lot!
Lots of good stuff Norm!!! Who makes the scale H-32 hopper? Brass? thx
Thanks - that is a Weaver model in ABS. I have a couple on the layout, and an MOW version I have yet to set up. They are pretty nice. Kinda tough to find.
