    Dear Grant... I am completely speechless! This cinematic model railroad video, in my opinion, has to rank the best ever produced. That, along with the exceptional quality of the clearly Canadian scenery and rolling stock, great cinematography, and the unique and unexpected choice of bold classical music by Beethoven (one of his symphonies; his music was revolutionary for his time). There is no one else on the planet to date who has ever created such a totally awesome rail video. Not even the world famous Miniature Wunderland in Hamburg, Germany, could have produced what you did. You clearly deserve First Prize!

    Magnificent and elegant presentation of your Model Railroad in action. A lot of people could learn from this video. Sometimes we don't need all the Locomotive sounds , club members talking in the background, or to much description. Simplicity and good camera work with a nice musical score. Thanks for the video.

    Superb! I really like your use of colour tones, from the backdrops to the trees and grass. Everything just flows and looks so natural. Some great layouts have been spoilt with too much 'colour pop' . Colour has scale too and you've done a great job. Merry Christmas to you!

      Wow I really appreciate your comment, a different perspective than most. Beautiful, simply beautiful! Somebody needs to come up with a way to make streams look like they are moving. :-) Are the real railroads allowed to do that flying helper-disengage - that was cool.

    • @SouthernAlbertaRail
      @SouthernAlbertaRail  17 дней назад +1

      Thanks so much, great question. Yes helpers cut off on the fly on the prototype. I've witnessed it on both Marias Pass and Bozeman Pass in Montana. A device called Helper Link is bolted to the front of a helper unit. It has a vertical air activated ram on it that pulls the pin when the helper engineer requests it. I believe it is tied into the FRED on the train being pushed via radio signal so that if the train goes into emergency the units would drop to idle. If you listen to a scanner you can hear a distinctive "Beep Bop Boop" just before the helpers drop off. If you feel like it you can check out my video "Distributed Power and Pushers" to see more and hear the signal. Cheers! -grant
