I just bought an XS Max from my girlfriend for $200. I was able to sell my old 8+ for $200. Spent $70 on a new battery and it’s good to go for a few more years.
I went from xs max to 13 pro max. I can absolutely recommend the xs max. It’s still a beast. Still after three years I haven’t had one thing to complain about.
@@torregoshi6055 I look after my batteries. I had 89% battery health after three years and more than 20% left by the end of the day. The battery was still very good. I don’t use battery case, wireless charger, magsafe etc for my phone. They can heat up the battery and damage it.
Yeah just upgraded from xs max to iPhone 13, only reason I changed it was for the better camera,battery, and the app Waze having connectivity issue especially for my xs max. If not I would’ve waited for 14. For anyone thinking to upgrade from xs max, only do it because there’s an issue with your phone if not wait for 14! I felt like I didn’t need 13 pro max after getting it lol

XS max is a good phone and the 14 pro max is a great upgrade! I have the 12 and I had it for a year now and bought it day one of launch and loving it so far and planning to upgrade to iPhone 15 pro max in 2023
I’ve had my XS Max since 11/2019 and my battery health is 93%. IMO, the XS Max is one of the best looking iPhones. It looks like a piece of jewelry. Not to mention it’s the last version with 3D Touch, which gives it a “classic” vibe. My next upgrade will be the 14 and I’mma keep my XS Max as a backup.
XS held up nicely! It really goes to show that it’s not necessary at all to upgrade every year. Every 2 years is my cycle and that’s still probably too often. Very relaxing, enjoyable video as always!
I think it’s solid to upgrade your phone every 3-4 years if your goal is not to just try and get the latest tech each time. Usually good changes occur every 3 years
That’s what I currently have. My husband just got me the 13 Pro Max and I’m having a hard time letting go of my XS Max. 🥲 I figured I’d wait to see how the 15 is since that’ll be out soon, didn’t make much sense to get a 14. But I’ve actually been happy with my gold XS Max 😢
When I had my XS max, I thought it was one of the best phones that’s I’ve used, considering that I now have the 13 pro max, I just have always remembered that that phone was really good, the features,, cameras, wireless charging…still a great phone today for sure!

I’d also say, if you’re looking for more battery, that’s also a reason to upgrade…there’s some more for sure, but I could’ve probably still have been using it today for sure. My uncle just upgraded from the XS Max to the 13 Pro Max. He’s always opted for the Plus/Max version of the iPhone since the 6 Plus in 2014. However, he told me that ergonomically, he doesn’t like the feel and size of the 13 Pro Max as much compared to previous plus models he’s owned. I think it’s gotten a little too large and heavy for his preference at this point. Otherwise, he loves the camera improvements from the XS Max to the 13 Pro Max, notably the quality of photos taken in low-light settings.
Interesting(for me) how you pitted the XS Max vs the current 13 Pro Max flagship, as I still have my XS Max. Since 2007, I've had every major iPhone up to the XS Max, but the XS Max was where I finally found everything to be _good enough._ Considering upgrading next year though.
Beware though, once you get a phone with 120hz it’s extremely hard to go back. I’ve got the 13 pro and just bought a 13 mini. I used it for a night. Went right back to my 13 pro. I’ll be returning the mini.
I switched from the XS max to the 13 Pro Max due to a broken screen and a bit of a performance drop... I can tell you, it was really worth the 10 weeks of waiting for my new phone. I'm very happy that I upgraded this year. I don't care that the 14 could be better next year, like you will always be behind on the top tier model as a student and I just needed a good working phone again.
Same reason here. My backplate and my screen were completely broken. Bought 3 months after it was announced for a bargain (600$) and enjoyed every second with it. I'm still not sure if the 13 Pro Max is the right choice but since a used XS Max still goes for around 400$ I decided to just get the new model. Hope it will serve me well for the next 4 years.

I bought this iPhone XS Max at the start of sales, in 2018. I got a lot of emotions, screen, design, cameras, especially the new gold color... One of the best iPhones in history. The advertising company was beautiful. This phone was perfect in every way
Daytime camera performance is pretty much neck and neck for both phones. It's the night shots where the 13 Pro Max's improved optics, night mode, LiDAR really make a difference. With that said, I'm still holding onto my XS for another year.
I have a XS Max and I’m gonna keep it for as long as it lasts. It’s due a new battery soon so I’ll just change it and continue as usual. I don’t need 5G because 4G is still dominant in my country and I have a traditional professional camera so I don’t need my phone to have a fancy camera
I still have my xs max 64gb since launch and it has held up amazingly with heavy use and it’s only at 81% battery health which I don’t mind because I’m going to use it until it stops getting support so replacing the battery won’t be necessary and I won’t feel bad about paying full price for it 😂. Also the experience between iPhone in the past 4 years has been the same. The only changes are very little by my standards I’ll wait for the iPhone 21 for am actually new iPhone.
The camera comparison part is just shocking, I'm rocking my XS and I was thinking about upgrading to a 12/13PM but wow I guess other than low light shots they are pretty similar (in some shots XS MAX photos actually came out better than the 13PM) to my untrained eyes!
In some cases the XS max does look better. However if you blow them up on a large display you can notice a big difference there. Otherwise you might like the photos out of the older phone better
If it was me choosing, if you could get a good deal on the iPhone XS Max I would go for that as it’s still plenty fast. But I would ideally go for the 13 pro max

I have an iPhone XS Max and love it still! Just got the battery replaced and it works just like new. Few stutters here and there but it still takes great photos and videos and love the screen. Wanna get 5 years out of it and longer if I can as I got it at release day. Plus want to see the iPhone without a notch and something new that makes me go wow. The iPhone 13 pro max does but just need something more.
I've been using the XS Max for two years. A great phone. I'm upgrading to the iPhone 13 Pro Max soon and will give my old phone to my wife. Thank you for a comprehensive and thorough comparison. The bigger memory (1Tb) compared to 512 Gig made the decision for me. Keep well.

I had Xs Max 64GB exactly in white :) ... I was perfectly happy with it and it still had 98% battery health ... but I opted for 13 Pro 256GB in Sierra Blue because reasons :) ... didn't go for the Pro Max becuase it appeared too big for me

Aaron, a typically fantastic review that owes a good part of its effectiveness to how fair and even-handed you are. Also, terrific production values (the side-by-side elements are excellent!). Lastly, the Viewers Comments themselves are also superb, extending the overall value of the production. At a certain level, the very fact of the review was a little startling inasmuch as it confirmed that there are still places on the Apple platform where they are still selling the XS Max, itself a tribute to the model's high and enduring quality. Lastly, though said elsewhere here it still feels like it bears a repeat: apparently I was not alone in thinking that the photos in the side-by-side comparison seemed *better with the XS Max - deeper hues, the color contrasts. Still, the 13 dazzles.
I was about to pull the trigger to switch from my XS Max to the 13 Pro Max due to a sale with my carrier. I just couldn’t do it. The XS Max is still a really good phone.
I’ve gone from the 12 pro max to the xs max because I lost my 12 but the only thing I miss is the ultra wide camera. Everything else is pretty much the same in reality.
I recently bought the 512GB Xs max in like new condition. I think Im going to keep this over my 256GB 12 Pro because of the bigger screen and more storage. I like my 12 pro but wish I wouldve went for the bigger one

I’ve had my gold XS Max for 3 yrs 3 months. Just ordered my 13 pro max today ☺️ I wasn’t even thinking about upgrading because it’s held up so nicely, but my screen got totally shattered (after already getting shattered/ being repaired once) it’s no longer worth the cost of repair unfortunately. it’s also getting kind of slow because of lack of internal storage (only 64 gb base model) but that’s kind of a me issue. I’m kind of sad I didn’t make it til the 14 release but that’s alright! I’m okay with waiting to upgrade now. the phones are a lot better than they used to be
Still rocking my XS Max since release, aside from the occasional slow down (with I heard iOS 16 is affecting all iPhones with that) I have zero issues. It does what I need it too do and I got the battery replaced a few months back and it’s gonna last me until it stops getting updates
Just bought a gold XS Max 256gb new off ebay for £390 and love it, looked at the 13's and the cheapest was £620 which was for a base model mini and is not that much off an improvement for nearly twice the money.
I’m late to the game I brought the iPhone XS Max three months ago refurbished from back market in excellent condition. The phone is perfect and I absolutely love it. I got the 512gb version is rose gold.
I got the iPhone 11 and I was debating between the iPhone XS Max and iPhone 11 and I got the 11 as it has better cameras and a newer chip and a bit better battery

I had a XS Max and get this the only reason I got the 13PM was because it has 1TB of storage and sometimes I even switch back to the XS because the I’ve had so many issues with the 13 all because of unpolished software. I’ve had crashes, frozen cameras, frame drops, flickering displays though it’s getting better with updates for me at least it’s an really unstable experience with the newer iPhone
Hi ! I had the 11pro max , 11 , 12 pro max and the xs max twice i am currently using my xs max with a 100% health battery and cant honestly say i notice any major difference !!! I was gonna maybe get the 13pro max but after watching the video ill stick with my xs max because the little differences are not big enough for the price difference lol

Really helpful video thanks. Am trying to decide between the 13 and the 13 max pro. I love apple kit it’s the best in my opinion but it does feel that they are clutching at straws somewhat with each new phone model. Personally I think there is more value for money with current android phones whereas the new releases to the iPhone are quite minimal. Ok I could simply move across to android but Apple tech just works and works and works. The classic example for me is Apple computers switch on and they are almost instantly ready without constant upgrading unlike the very messy windows plug and pray. Once you get used to Apple software it’s second nature and incredibly intuitive and makes a change very difficult. I also think that Apple do take advantage of the customer loyalty with pricing and they get away with the premium price tag. It does seem to be less hyped here in the uk than the USA. I remember seeing the queues in New York for an iPhone release during a visit and it was really unbelievable and a bit embarrassing to witness, a great example of mass marketing and and the easy exploitation of peoples weaknesses while sucking them in. Loving my first iPhone which is xs max... I don't need to upgrade it since it's already a great use for me.. 5 mos ago, I bought samsung Galaxy s22 ultra and I must say, I REALLY MISSED THE ANDROID... but will never disregard the security has brought me by apple... 😊
I just bought an iPhone XS Max for $400 USD (the 256GB version) and I’m so excited with it. The comparison of the 13 pro max it’s not enough for me to believe that I really need to spend more than one thousand to get it, but it’s just my opinion. 😄
@@onedollasnake from the box brand new the screen had a weird vertical ghosting that extremely noticeable. Then the replacement had a terrible green tint and Apple said they would wait for a software update before replacing my phone. The software update never fixed anything so I got a replacement which had a terrible yellow/green tint to it to which I was told it was normal.Than summer came. I was unable to use my phone more than 10 min outside without the phone getting extremely hot and screen dimming to the point that it was unusable. Come October the screen stopped working all together and I was sent a replacement. The replacement phone had a scratch on the screen that was deep long and very noticeable. Fighting with Apple for two weeks and they didn't want to replace the phone saying I scratched it. So I started another repaid for the "green" tint and the advisor replaced it on the spot with express replacement. Sold the phone and purchased the 13 Pro Max.
i have the xs max and i was thinking in upgrading to 14 pro, but I just can't help but think it's not even worth it. If taken care of these phones can last 7 years easily, and checking social media and sending messages doesn't need the latest and greatest.
I have an iPhone XR and have no plans to upgrade. It does the job. If you need a better camera, get a camera. If you need a better spec, get a computer. I might upgrade to iPhone 12 at some point to benefit from 5G. Otherwise the latest iPhones are only for IPhone fans. Of course more models are good for Apple’s business model

No way around it, I just upgraded from the xs max. I now own a 13 pro Max now. Phone is larger, screen is brighter, it's more colorful, it's more thinner better battery life. Xs max still powerful but the 13 pro max blows it out the water. Verizon has a deal any trade In any xs max you would get $800 for the phone. I paid off my phone today.
I think they both take good pictures, and videos but almost equally good of the 13 I like more then my xs but the xs has better microphones in my opinion
Bought the XS Max brand new when it came out. Would not recommend buying anything less than a 12 at this point, but I’d recommend this over an iPhone 11 if that’s your budget. The 13 Pro Max’s display is gorgeous because of the 120 hz refresh rate and the cameras are amazing, and also the battery, but the prices have tripled in my country recently because of inflation/currency devaluation and i just can’t bring myself to spend that much on a phone. Had it been priced similarly to the new XS Max prices back in 2018 in my country, I would’ve definitely upgraded.

I have a 10X Max bought new and long paid off. I’m perfectly happy with it and I’m in no rush to upgrade. I hope to upgrade my iPad Air 3 and my Apple Watch 4 before I upgrade my phone.

I owned XS,11,12 PM models….was happy with all of them except the 12PM was disappointing on the battery health now using 13PM… so far enjoy using it especially macro photo mode and no complains so long the battery health holds up

I tired using the xs max coming from my 12. The battery life was so bad I ended up getting the 13 pro max. The screen is a big upgrade and the battery life is amazing.

How did you maintain your battery health?
The camera comparison part is just shocking, I'm rocking my XS and I was thinking about upgrading to a 12/13PM but wow I guess other than low light shots they are pretty similar (in some shots XS MAX photos actually came out better than the 13PM) to my untrained eyes!
In some cases the XS max does look better. However if you blow them up on a large display you can notice a big difference there. Otherwise you might like the photos out of the older phone better

If it was me choosing, if you could get a good deal on the iPhone XS Max I would go for that as it’s still plenty fast. But I would ideally go for the 13 pro max

I have an iPhone XS Max and love it still! Just got the battery replaced and it works just like new. Few stutters here and there but it still takes great photos and videos and love the screen. Wanna get 5 years out of it and longer if I can as I got it at release day. Plus want to see the iPhone without a notch and something new that makes me go wow. The iPhone 13 pro max does but just need something more.
I've been using the XS Max for two years. A great phone. I'm upgrading to the iPhone 13 Pro Max soon and will give my old phone to my wife. Thank you for a comprehensive and thorough comparison. The bigger memory (1Tb) compared to 512 Gig made the decision for me. Keep well.

Great Video and thank you for all the detailed analysis. I have the 13 Pro Max currently but had the XS MAX when it first released in 2018. I prefer the XS MAX as it's easier to handle due to the rounded sides. I wish Apple would go back to it. Keep up the great work!

I had Xs Max 64GB exactly in white :) ... I was perfectly happy with it and it still had 98% battery health ... but I opted for 13 Pro 256GB in Sierra Blue because reasons :) ... didn't go for the Pro Max becuase it appeared too big for me
Had an iPhone XS Max and who are unfortunately exchanged against an 11 Pro Max, except storage capacity and the night camera there is no reason to upgrade. Wish I still had my XS Max. 😞
Aaron, a typically fantastic review that owes a good part of its effectiveness to how fair and even-handed you are. Also, terrific production values (the side-by-side elements are excellent!). Lastly, the Viewers Comments themselves are also superb, extending the overall value of the production. At a certain level, the very fact of the review was a little startling inasmuch as it confirmed that there are still places on the Apple platform where they are still selling the XS Max, itself a tribute to the model's high and enduring quality. Lastly, though said elsewhere here it still feels like it bears a repeat: apparently I was not alone in thinking that the photos in the side-by-side comparison seemed *better with the XS Max - deeper hues, the color contrasts. Still, the 13 dazzles.
Traded my pixel 1 for an XS Max and I’m gonna keep it till the iPhone gets a major change… minor upgrades and a camera aren’t worth 400$ to me
I was about to pull the trigger to switch from my XS Max to the 13 Pro Max due to a sale with my carrier. I just couldn’t do it. The XS Max is still a really good phone.
To be honest iphone older models are still value for money phones ❤️. Gets the job done.
I’ve gone from the 12 pro max to the xs max because I lost my 12 but the only thing I miss is the ultra wide camera. Everything else is pretty much the same in reality.
I recently bought the 512GB Xs max in like new condition. I think Im going to keep this over my 256GB 12 Pro because of the bigger screen and more storage. I like my 12 pro but wish I wouldve went for the bigger one

I have a 12 Pro Max, love it to bits but too big, too bulky, too heavy, brought a used XS Max with 512GB to be honest I now prefer the XS Max, due to less weight, the feel and usage.

I’ve had my gold XS Max for 3 yrs 3 months. Just ordered my 13 pro max today ☺️ I wasn’t even thinking about upgrading because it’s held up so nicely, but my screen got totally shattered (after already getting shattered/ being repaired once) it’s no longer worth the cost of repair unfortunately. it’s also getting kind of slow because of lack of internal storage (only 64 gb base model) but that’s kind of a me issue. I’m kind of sad I didn’t make it til the 14 release but that’s alright! I’m okay with waiting to upgrade now. the phones are a lot better than they used to be

Still rocking my XS Max since release, aside from the occasional slow down (with I heard iOS 16 is affecting all iPhones with that) I have zero issues. It does what I need it too do and I got the battery replaced a few months back and it’s gonna last me until it stops getting updates

Just bought a gold XS Max 256gb new off ebay for £390 and love it, looked at the 13's and the cheapest was £620 which was for a base model mini and is not that much off an improvement for nearly twice the money.
I changed my XS Max's housing to a 12 Pro Max housing. I'm good with it...still fast and fluid.

After you see the difference in display quality and contrast, you’ll wish you went with the XS max

I had a XS Max and get this the only reason I got the 13PM was because it has 1TB of storage and sometimes I even switch back to the XS because the I’ve had so many issues with the 13 all because of unpolished software. I’ve had crashes, frozen cameras, frame drops, flickering displays though it’s getting better with updates for me at least it’s an really unstable experience with the newer iPhone
Hi ! I had the 11pro max , 11 , 12 pro max and the xs max twice i am currently using my xs max with a 100% health battery and cant honestly say i notice any major difference !!! I was gonna maybe get the 13pro max but after watching the video ill stick with my xs max because the little differences are not big enough for the price difference lol

Great advice on IPhone XS Max because I wanted 14 Pro Max, a friend of mine told me to continue to use my XS Max wait till maybe next year or 2025, I have my IPhone XS Max since December of 2019 I haven’t had any issues or bugs with my iPhone at all, thank for your advice on XS Max 😉
During a cost of living crisis, the XS Max at £200 for 64GB from an online retailer with warranty is a compelling option.

Really helpful video thanks. Am trying to decide between the 13 and the 13 max pro. I love apple kit it’s the best in my opinion but it does feel that they are clutching at straws somewhat with each new phone model. Personally I think there is more value for money with current android phones whereas the new releases to the iPhone are quite minimal. Ok I could simply move across to android but Apple tech just works and works and works. The classic example for me is Apple computers switch on and they are almost instantly ready without constant upgrading unlike the very messy windows plug and pray. Once you get used to Apple software it’s second nature and incredibly intuitive and makes a change very difficult. I also think that Apple do take advantage of the customer loyalty with pricing and they get away with the premium price tag. It does seem to be less hyped here in the uk than the USA. I remember seeing the queues in New York for an iPhone release during a visit and it was really unbelievable and a bit embarrassing to witness, a great example of mass marketing and and the easy exploitation of peoples weaknesses while sucking them in. Great video though and good content well explained👍

I just bought an iPhone XS Max for $400 USD (the 256GB version) and I’m so excited with it. The comparison of the 13 pro max it’s not enough for me to believe that I really need to spend more than one thousand to get it, but it’s just my opinion. 😄

iPhone XS Max was my favorite iPhone ever. I had zero issues with it. When I switched to the iPhone 12 Pro Max, I had issues after issues.
What issues with 12 pro max did you have?
@@onedollasnake from the box brand new the screen had a weird vertical ghosting that extremely noticeable. Then the replacement had a terrible green tint and Apple said they would wait for a software update before replacing my phone. The software update never fixed anything so I got a replacement which had a terrible yellow/green tint to it to which I was told it was normal.Than summer came. I was unable to use my phone more than 10 min outside without the phone getting extremely hot and screen dimming to the point that it was unusable. Come October the screen stopped working all together and I was sent a replacement. The replacement phone had a scratch on the screen that was deep long and very noticeable. Fighting with Apple for two weeks and they didn't want to replace the phone saying I scratched it. So I started another repaid for the "green" tint and the advisor replaced it on the spot with express replacement. Sold the phone and purchased the 13 Pro Max.

i have the xs max and i was thinking in upgrading to 14 pro, but I just can't help but think it's not even worth it. If taken care of these phones can last 7 years easily, and checking social media and sending messages doesn't need the latest and greatest.

I have an iPhone XR and have no plans to upgrade. It does the job. If you need a better camera, get a camera. If you need a better spec, get a computer. I might upgrade to iPhone 12 at some point to benefit from 5G. Otherwise the latest iPhones are only for IPhone fans. Of course more models are good for Apple’s business model
The xr and 11 lcd screens are laughable. Apple should’ve never released a device where you can see the pixels.

No way around it, I just upgraded from the xs max. I now own a 13 pro Max now. Phone is larger, screen is brighter, it's more colorful, it's more thinner better battery life. Xs max still powerful but the 13 pro max blows it out the water. Verizon has a deal any trade In any xs max you would get $800 for the phone. I paid off my phone today.

I think they both take good pictures, and videos but almost equally good of the 13 I like more then my xs but the xs has better microphones in my opinion
Bought the XS Max brand new when it came out. Would not recommend buying anything less than a 12 at this point, but I’d recommend this over an iPhone 11 if that’s your budget. The 13 Pro Max’s display is gorgeous because of the 120 hz refresh rate and the cameras are amazing, and also the battery, but the prices have tripled in my country recently because of inflation/currency devaluation and i just can’t bring myself to spend that much on a phone. Had it been priced similarly to the new XS Max prices back in 2018 in my country, I would’ve definitely upgraded.

I have a 10X Max bought new and long paid off. I’m perfectly happy with it and I’m in no rush to upgrade. I hope to upgrade my iPad Air 3 and my Apple Watch 4 before I upgrade my phone.
The refurbished prices at the Apple store are nuts, you could buy an XS for around 300 in great shape.

I have XS Max and dont even think about "downgrade" to 13 Pro Max. The 13 is to heavy and clumsy while the XS Max look like the future has arrived and do everything verry good with the perfect Oled screen and take great pitcures👍 I put my XS Max the other day next beside my daughter 13 Pro Max and when she saw then toghether she said "omg.. is it the new 14 Pro Max"? hahaha
I owned XS,11,12 PM models….was happy with all of them except the 12PM was disappointing on the battery health
now using 13PM… so far enjoy using it especially macro photo mode and no complains so long the battery health holds up
I have had the XS Max and I love it. My son has the 11 and it doesn’t even compare to mine even though it’s newer. I use my flashlight often and it’s bright and great. My son’s flashlight on his 11 is garbage. How is the flashlight on the 13 Pro Max?
I would honestly say the XS max is a better phone than the 11 overall. Especially the build quality and the display quality is better
I tired using the xs max coming from my 12. The battery life was so bad I ended up getting the 13 pro max. The screen is a big upgrade and the battery life is amazing.
