Found a leak this way as well on my last rebuilt echo saw, but it was the carb in my case, swapped it and that did the trick.
Saw this trick on aaron lynch his channel, wouldnt have known how to go about it otherwise :)
Its great you guys share this kind of stuff.

Thank you sir for the great videos. I just found a bad intake clamp on my buddies Husqvarna saw thanks to your videos. Gonna pull the head and try and get it fixed up for him because he gave me a nice homelite UT10518 which with a little work got it running like a dream.

I have a saw with a problem im trying to fix. I can start it and it appears to idle fine. However when I try to adjust the idle screw I cant make the chain turn while its running. When I throttle it it bogs dow immediately if I feather it I can slowly get it to ramp up. It spits out too much bar oil. Ive changed spark plug, gas filter and carb adjustments dont work. I did clean out the carb and replaced gaskets recently and had it running okay.

Would you recommend doing a base gasket delete on any saw especially old saws or new

I've found a lot of gaskets like that on the 362/365/372 series..really, it's a bad design, as you can see how "narrow" the gasket is on the sides, and it doesn't have enough surface area, too skinny for the distance it has to bridge between the cylinder bolts. I, too use that method to find air leaks..I know the "proper" way is to do a pressure/leakdown test, but I use that as a method of last resort..too time consuming, and often a pain in the rear..and you have to make sure all your block-off plates are not leaking, which can also be a pain. Another place I check for leaks with the brake cleaner, is to pull the bar and chain, clutch if necessary, and spray it around the crank seals, also on the flywheel side..and around the gasket seam where the crankcase halves are bolted together...

Why not try a Chinese carb, very inexpensive and you may strike a good one.

    Quote from New Life newsletter:
    Everything Matters
He who is faithful in a very little thing is also faithful in much; and he who is dishonest in a very little thing is also dishonest in much. Luke 16:10
Everything you do matters. The pizza you ate last night, the college you attended, the comment you made to your child a few minutes ago, the church you joined, the book you picked up at the library yesterday -- it all matters. It all makes up the rich fabric of your life. Every moment you are doing something that matters, something that makes a difference. Every moment weaves its way into your experience, into the person you are, into the person you are becoming. You have the awesome responsibility and the wonderful opportunity of being alive, of being capable of greatness. The possibilities available to you in just a single moment are countless. Over the course of your lifetime the possibilities are almost unimaginable. Everything matters. Every moment is a treasure waiting to be opened. Nothing is small or insignificant, because it is all part of your life. Appreciate the wonder that is in each grain of living. Make the most of it, because it all matters.
Father in heaven, thank You that You are the God of the details, not just the big moments. Forgive us for the times we look down on the little choices we make as if they don’t matter. Everything matters, for that is what life is made of. Help us in every little choice we make to honor You. In our finances, friendships, food and families. In Jesus name, AMEN!
If anything matters, then everything matters.
