  • I've been using the Tamron 17-50mm F4 lens for a while now. Recently I had a chance to buy the Tamron 20-40mm F2.8 on a very reasonable used price. I'm trying to compare them and give a brief overview of them.

Beautiful landscape with bonus sheep! I bought the Tamron 20-40 to supplant my Tamron 17-28 as I always found that I wanted a bit more reach than 28 but also didn't want to keep changing lenses. Best workhorse lens is Tamron's 28-200 zoom.

I agree with what you said about the 28-200mm. I had it and loved it. I only sold it as I swapped to a 2-lens setup with the 17-50 and 50-400.

Good comparison! Personally own the 20-40 so a little biased. Would love a little more reach than 40mm but for the size it’s perfect for an edc

We always want a bit more, don't we. 🙂
