Hey so im limited mechanically somewhat but where can i get a full list or guide for an LS swap on a 98 Chevy k3500 7.4L V8 (454) 4x4 Crew Cab? Please please!!!
Max! I’m doing this same exact thing to my dads old obs . Already straight axles the truck and had it road worthy but tore it back down to do this swap . Do you have the push button 4x4 module ? Trying to figure out wiring on it due to having to cut wiring harness from doner truck right at firewall
I’d like you to go a little more in depth on getting the instrument cluster working I have a 1990 aswell with a 5.3 swap. People I bought it from had panel all ripped out and an iPad in its place. I went to junk yard and got an oem cluster for my truck. I would love some a little more in depth help on getting this to work
I know this video is a year old, but I had to say. Thank you for making it. Lots of great information for the swap in one video under 10 mins. The way you went about it is very easy, logical, but intelligent & intentional.
Good job buddy I love how you actually explain YOUR way of "making it work" which is exactly what some of us are very interested in seeing. Especially with keeping the 4wd working. Keep up the good work man and good job on this build 🤟
Wish there was a way to do this with a 5.7 and a more modern trans. I would like a boosted LS swapped 1500 that can keep up with supercharged f150s. This truck is real clean and looks great with the blue on blue.
lol grandpa style is what I go with I love keeping it lifted for all 4x4 opportunities 💪🏻 I’ve wanted to lower the factory suspension but feel like it’s so prefect there’s no use in messing with it
I got an obs 2500 sierra i wanna ls swap. Ive already dropped it and got it running with the stock 5.7 quite nicely but definitely want more power. Oh yeah, its stick too and would like to keep it stick.
This is an amazing build! Quick question, does the engine's PCM run the 4x4 operation? If so, did you have to have the PCM reflashed to shift properly while in 4wd low?
Clean job, I did something similar, I highly recommend Detroit true track, I went with 488 but my truck's not lowered it's lifted 9" if I can piggy back your channel for a second, I paid $2,500 for a 2004 Chevy 2500 HD. Sold my blown up tb350 and miscellaneous part off the 2004, so instead of paying $2,500 for a 6.0 on line or something. I only have $750 in a 6.0 4l80e , and the front and rear differentials that haven't been installed, 14 bolt full float disc brake, and a much beefier front differential. Point is sometimes it's cheaper just to buy the whole vehicle. What I want to see, how excited you are after you put a cam in it, I suggest Brian Tooley racing truck Norris or hot rod 👍
I have a 92 1 ton OBS I’m swapping Same trans 4l80e Would love to know what you did with the fuel system ? Swap internal pumps ? And which oil pan you used to clear the differential up front
What brand and size of airbags did you put on your truck? Sounds like I'm going through the same problems you have already gone through doing a C-notch on a 4x4. Thanks in advance.
Mind me asking how did you connect the t case to the LS harness to the Ecu or how do I get the wiring done on the obs T case with the new LS harness to give it power I also have a manual T case with a floor shifter
Thank you for this video. I am in the midst of transplanting an 06' yukon LM7 826 heads, auto trans 4l65e i think. , and I have the entire Yukon intact and running .. so I have fuse block , ecm, accelator pedal, all wiring, exhaust, sensors, air box, radiator, etc. The yukon slt has the 4:10 gearing so I may use the front and rear axels at a later day .....way....way down the road. And like you just going stock to start with stock tune. And initially just the engine....but now My Question is :: is it easier to swap the Yukon tranny and engine all in one swap....rather than just the motor as I planned to begin with. Reason my 4l60e died and somebody stole the new tranny I had to replace it Its all going into my 94' k1500 4x4, ext cab z71, currently with 5.7, broken 4l60e and 3:73 gears thanks for the info in this video. It has already helped me. God Bless
i would swap motor and trans at same time, because the LS harness or any stand alone LS harness will have a trans harness and plug. then they can talk to eachother and hang out
So I'm guessing there's no way to keep the modern transmission and make it work with your 4x4? I'm looking at keeping my 350 and trying to do the sonnax 2.84 gear swap in my 4l60E but if the cost of that could afford me an LS swap then that's what I'll have to do but I still want to keep my four-wheel. drive and get better gear ratios obviously.
I learned all about the fuel system through @cool cars KJ s RUclips channel. I listed all the fuel system parts at the end. What would you like to know?
Hi my man I need some help to lower my truck, I’ve 98 Silverado k1500 and I want to know the exactly Belltech parts to lower my truck, I did a quick search and I figured the all 4wd truck can lower only 2/2 by belltech kits, is there any parts can install to lower the truck more than 2/2 from the front and back?
Like your truck i would appreciate it if you would tell me What fuel pump you used? Cuz mine keeps messing up. If I press the gas pedal it won't run it feels like it doesn't have enough gas.
We are building one now nv4500 4x4 5speed just put the ls 3 gen waiting on the wiring harness. It’s easy to turn a 2000 dollar truck turn it into a 7500 dollar truck. I’m about to build one and sale it. I’m a ford mustang gt guy but I know what people want, not many can drive a mustang you have to ride it with respect. They don’t call it a mustang for nothing they know what they was doing.
Thanks! And it took about 3 months and I just worked on it when I could as I’m in college and own a small business. And total cost with everything in that video is probably a little over 10k not including the price of the truck.
Great video! Did you retain the column shifter? If so what did you need to do to make it work with the 4l80e ? Getting ready to LS2 4L80e swap my ‘89 K1500. Thanks
thank you! and yep still column shift. I used the stock linkage. I made another video answering questions from this video and went over the shift linkage a little more
There is a factory harness that runs from the front axel and actuator to the t case shifter in the floor. I used that and cut out the purple tcc wire. That wires is used so you can’t lock the converter in 4x4 low I believe. I never plan on using 4 low in this truck
@@calvingrant9800 guages so come from ecu in glove box. For temp I used factory sensor adapted into the head. Voltage comes from 12 key supply in glove box. Oil pressure is factory with 99-00 oil pressure sensor (plugs right into factory wiring, fuel level is all factory untouched. And Speedo I made a t for the vss output on 4l80 and sent one to ecu and other to guage!
Keep the questions coming and I will make a video answering all of them!

Just push play #play but great start
Finally a video of a LS swap that the 4x4 still works. Im definitely keeping my k1500 now
Facts brother 😂
Why wouldn't it work after the swap? You aren't changing anything related to that.
I know this video is a year old, but I had to say. Thank you for making it. Lots of great information for the swap in one video under 10 mins. The way you went about it is very easy, logical, but intelligent & intentional.

Thanks dude!! That’s exactly what I was trying to do in this video. More videos coming soon
Great video with a lot of great explanation of what you did. KILLER looking truck!
Thanks dude!
Solid video brotha ... my 97 k1500 needs some love and this is inspiring
yooooo this is exactly the video ive been lookin for i got a 1990 k1500 shorty as well!

Do you have a part number by chance for the 454 radiator?? Can’t see it on your list due to the “next” video tag sitting in the way.

A rabbit hole of videos got me , quick question what c notch and air bags did you use for your k 1500 ?
This is AMAZING 😍
Did you keep factory truck oil pan? Have to notch frame?
What’s the specs on the wheels and tires? Got a lowered 93 k1500 rcsb and am wanting to run 22s but not sure which size to go!
Still no answer champ? 😅 I want to know the same thing.
Is it possible to get a parts list with part numbers for the suspension?
Cold air intake information please.
