I'm a regional financial associate, I report to the CFO directly and I have one counterpart but I manage FPA activities for half the markets and have about a 700m PnL I also manage operational projects for each of my markets and have dotted lines with each markets president, this is a healthcare startup that when I started 10 months ago was at about 400 employees now nearing 1000, I did an MBA in finance but my experience was in data analysis before this job. I was grateful they gave me the opportunity given that I had no finance experience but I'm thinking about how to go about being promoted and what that title should look like, the CFO has basically said we are like regional CFO's

Some role relating to forecasting, analysis of the macroeconomics events and how it can effect the company industry would be a FP&A responsibilities right? That's what attracts me

It may, but it also might be marketing. My wife works in marketing (although she has an accounting and finance background) and she refers to it as finance without the dollar signs. might be worth looking into marketing / economics.

To go into a corporate finance career, should I major in finance or accounting? I’m a senior in HS and am interested in going into finance, and am particularly interested in this career. My current intended major for colleges is finance, and although corporate finance is categorized as a “finance career path”, I know a lot of accounting is involved. What I was thinking about doing is majoring in finance and minoring in accounting, that way I had more knowledge for that job, and I could still keep my major for the subject that I’m interested in the most. This is all speculative and Ik I could change my major if I think about something different or get exposed to something different, but I just wanted to hear your thoughts.

I would look into a duel major or major in one and minor in the other. My normal advice would be, major in finance and take as many corporate finance type classes as you can (vs. portfolio allocation, financial planning, etc) and take as many accounting classes as you can. In all reality, corporate finance will pretty much be open to hire either major with almost no preference for one or the other, so you can't go wrong. I love to hear you are thinking about going into corporate finance! Be sure to sign-up for a mailing list and to subscribe, we will help steer you in the right direction!

Is CPA or MBA better for CFO?

Either is helpful in terms of learning more, but it is company dependent on if they care about those. The more important question is, which one helps you address a gap in your skill set or which one compliments your strength. Most important is real world experience and succeeding in your different jobs you have.
