An economist will typically look into economic drivers and how they relate to the firm. FP&A Analyst will use the firm's data to build models that give the firm information to make useful decisions.

FP&A is best suited to MBAs, in the MBA programs you learn a bit of everything. CPAs in FP&A are fairly common too.

I actually don't think the CFA helps too much in Corporate Finance. Not many employers value it either.

You could certainly apply to one! I had no accounting experience prior to starting in corporate finance / FP&A.
