Not pictured: Fighting years of rusted bolts. Man, I am about to work on my dads 96 and just wanted to kill time while he drove over, so I popped this video on to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything cause I don't do this shit all the time anymore. Good news is, didn't forget anything. Bad news was, videos don't show rusted bolts being stuck and the hour that it takes to get them out lol Appreciate the brush up though!
Good point! These are new calipers. If I encounter a tough nut or bolt, I don’t show the struggle but I’ll tell you that it was difficult. No problem man!🤙 Good luck!
Hi Stevie, Good to see you again, My truck is just now road worthy. I just finished getting my lights to work properly. I had a problem with the rear wiring harness and Had to repair it. So I am getting very close.
Hi JR! Good to hear from you. I just discovered that notifications for the comments was turned off. So I am only seeing comments now. However, it’s good to hear you are making progress.
@@TheMinuteMasters Hi Stevie, Never guess,... heater core was leaking. I had to take the truck apart and check it out. Then try to find a replacement core for it...I am in the holding pattern presently..bad boy for turning off your notification..
J. R. Thompson Damn! Well at least you found the source of your leak. So are you waiting for a callback from a parts supplier to see if they have a heater core for you? Hahaha! I’ll definitely get those notifications turned back on for sure.
STEVIE!!! Good to see you buddy! That adjustable pry bar! Man I can see from just looking in your wheel well all the upgrades to the purple beauty. Bilsteins, silicone bushings, new bushing bracket etc. Lots of work on that wonderful machine and I know you love it. I'm about to change out the radiator on one of mine and put a aftermarket coolant temperature guage as my Ford temp guage is a little wonky and I'd rather be looking at specific degrees rather than 1/4 marks. Got my new Ford water pump, new Ford thermostat, Gates hoses, Bosch temp guage and in-hose fitting to catch that temperature readings. You know I love the tool scan buddy. Spied that OTC jack. Nuttin but the best for the MM-Machine. I appreciate you as always buddy and thanks for the video! JUST happened to catch my email alert as I was shutting down the computer, but couldn't not watch my favorite channel!! Love to the family and Mrs. MM!
Patrick PhippsPA Hey Patrick! Good to hear from you too brother! Yup! I think it’s a crescent adjustable pry bar. I’ll have to check but it comes in handy with stuck parts. You bet! All new parts! Although, I want to replace the coil springs. They are Moog and they sag too much for my liking. The top three coils sit on top of each other and make for a jarring ride. Very good! A new coolant system will do wonders for your engine. I feel ya too on the coolant gauge. I installed a gauge for my transmission and I love it! Yup! OTC low profile I bought to fit under my previous car, but still does the job for my truck. As always, it’s good to hear from you Patrick! I appreciate your viewership and of course your motivational comments. I will pass on your regards to the Mrs MM! You have a great week brother!
Stevie, I really need some advice, I am quite handy with my 95 f150 and I have replaced both calipers in the front in August of 2021 when I did a suspension and brake overhaul. Then in July of 2023 I replaced my pads and had my rotors turned and replaced the master cylinder and I also replaced my driver side caliper as the bleeder screw broke off when I was bleeding all four sides. Then today (11/16/2023) I noticed that my passenger side pads were almost completely worn out but my driver side was almost new. I used the same CRC brake grease you used for the slide pins. Any ideas as to why this is happening since both of my calipers have been replaced within 2 years??
OK, so in this scenario where everything is new, only two things come to mind to check. A) the caliper. Are you installed sales prematurely. B) I would try bleeding your two front brakes and see if there is an improvement. I would also try “cycling” the caliper. Basically remove the caliper and compress the piston back into the body of the caliper. Put something in the caliper to simulate pads, the. Press the brake pedal. Do you need something in the caliper so that the piston doesn’t push out completely but basically you’re trying to figure out if the piston is actuating correctly.
@Minute Masters just changed the front yesterday abs light came on because I believe it was heating up because of all the new pad material not exactly sure but when I changed them the wheel would not freely spin because it was contacting the pad even with the piston fully compressed
The caliper bolts DO NOT need to be greased because that is not where the caliper slides. It slides on the pins; they should remove the old grease and make sure they slide freely. Grease the insides of the boots so the brakes don't hang up and over heat.
Thanks so much, great video! Am curious, my '95 f150 2wd with the 5.0 the caliper has no bolts but a triangular-looking pin you have to drive out to remove the caliper. Is that a mid-model leftover from the 94 year or something the 96s have? Mine is a 95 for sure. Is that something the 2wds have? Very interesting to find out. Thanks again!
Nice video. I replaced new brake pads and caliper piston works. Pressed brake and wheels get stucked. Have u encountered this? Do i need to break it in?
I had this. I took off the rubber brake line and I couldn't blow air thru it, so it must have been holding pressure on the pads. I ended up replacing the entire caliper to be safe and because they are relatively cheap for these trucks.
Yeah if they get stuck then your caliper piston could be seized. They are pretty cheap and replacing calipers is pretty easy. I'd definitely replace them.
Shouldn't you check the brake fluid resivoir to make sure that when you depress the piston it will not overflow the resivoir.I allways check the level and if it is full,I remove some fluid ,then top off after installation.
Hey stevie how are you doing. Great video by the way. Just to let you know I just installed a new headliner from national parts depot. My friend Mike helped me install it. I still have to reinstall the sun visors though?
Terry Baptist Great Terry! Just working and keeping busy. Thanks! 🤙 It was nice to get back to working on my truck! Cool! How’s the quality of that headliner? Is it the abs plastic headliner board or just the headliner material?
Is was the cloth with 3M headliner spray adhesive with abs plastic backing and Sadly yes a pain in the you know where to install if you know what I mean.
I actually have a 92 f 150 and had to change my L/F caliper. My caliper had those terrible knockout pins instead of the two bolts on the top and bottom of the caliper. Very effective design, but just terrible at the same time. Great video and thank you.
Dude what a coincidence 😂 I was literally just thinking about how I needed to change my brakes on the old ford! I love the vids! Never stop!
Hahaha! Nice! Well I'm glad I could help ya out!🤙

@@TheMinuteMastersawesome thank you for that advice I will try that tonight!
Can you please show us how to do the back brakes on a 95 F-150
I think my driver’s side brake drum isn’t working. So they could be coming.
@@TheMinuteMasters awesome, mine are worn “to the metal” according to the shop!
It's different in the back?
The rear axle has drum brakes.

That’s weird. I never heard of that. I have a 95 F150 2wd and I have bolts.
Yeah I read about this before. I have a 94 with bolts. Somebody may have replaced the whole spindle or something like that before

I’ve never had one over flow. But not a bad idea to check.

any mechanics out there think the 1994-96 calipers are better or worse than the earlier style of the 1986-93
I’m curious too!
Always, always keep your rotors we'll lubricated with heavy axle grease and this will assure no squeaking.
Hahahaha
