I remember reading back when K-2SOs started appearing in live action series and movies that one doesn't realize realize how massive they are until you do so. They're humongous units, can only imagine what it would be to see one in real life with working animatronics, etc
I left a comment, Cassian said I had to.
Great tips and tricks in this video, excellent recounting of the process. You're one of the best 3d printing content creators i've come across.
Thank you for making such great content!
I love Droid Division, their files are the BEST and not to mention GORGEOUS
Wow! Thank you Michaela.
So cool to see him coming together so well. Beautiful prints, can't wait to see him get painted in 2024!
K2 is the absolute boss :)
Your models rule! I’m looking to print one or two of them myself pretty soon 😁
As a heads up, with the plastic welder, you are supposed to press the staple into the plastic and then twist slightly so the staple actually goes into the plastic body. Great work on the massive project!
You are a print genius
You are killing it lately! Another awesome inspiring video.
Great job! Truly enjoy watching your work.
Holy ginormous print!!!! Absolutely mind blowing!!!! ❤😊❤
This was amazing! A really impressive 3D print! Your videos continue to be a strong source of inspiration for me. I would love to be able to tackle a 3D print that size. Keep the videos coming!
Gobsmacked! It looks great already. I cannot wait to see it when you paint and detail it! You're absolutely one of my new favorite channels.
This is just amazing. Awesome to see it in full scale like that. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out painted and finished up.
Wow love the giantness of this piece.
Wow you just recently completed a IG12 now this guy! I'm glad to see that some of these companies are recognizing your work and sending you stuff to test out Those prints look awesome!
Haha, yes! To be fair, IG was completed during the summer and just took me until last week to edit through all of the footage to post the video. A new droid a week is definitely not going to be the new normal lol
@@MMsPropShop 3 weeks for that is not bad! And now you're making me want to buy that printer! LOL.
@@MMsPropShop are you going to try other robots from SciFi like Borderlands as a escape
wow.. you are super impressive and that patience I can understand..incredible work..dont stop posting.. great work again..
You are great, incredible amazing jobs, perfect. I'am very looking forward to your next projects
That is soooooooo freaking AWESOME!!!!
Nice job
One of my favorite looking droids! As an Anycubic Chiron owner I love seeing these big prints!
This is fucking awesome! Great work as always! 👍
i really dig your project. and the short amount of time it took you to complete it! i myself have been working on building a life sized female robot that i designed myself roughly 20 years ago and, so far, has taken me 3 years to get to the point where i have the torso and upper legs finished. sometimes the parts didn't come out right, so i had to reprint them and reprint them until they did. i am using a creality cr10 for the job. but your project is/was inspiring. thank you for sharing it with us 😀
Someone needs to 3d Print a life sized Metal Sonic!
E-102 Gamma or E-123 Omega
Or HK-50!
Perhaps a Dark Trooper...? B2-Battle Droid or maybe a Droideka!
A Tactical Droid would be interesting and so would a Commando Droid!
wow!! you make it look so easy!
Cooollll!!! Rogue one is probably my fav new Star Wars movie
you are a god at your work, my hat is off to you
Wow, this is such an amazing job. Well done. Definitely subscribing!
I've been watching you for a bit over a year now and you should have so many more subscribers. Your process descriptions and real reviews on products have really helped me with my 3D prints. I have only been doing helmets and none of these much larger prints you are doing but would love to soon start with some droids. Might start with a more manageable pit droid then work my way up.
Thank you again and really look forward to seeing your next video!
The pit droid is a great starter project! If there’s a larger droid you really like, just building the head can also be a fun project. You can print a stand to display it but remove it later to use if you decide you want to build the full droid.
@@MMsPropShop That actually sounds like an awesome approach, i didn't even think of displaying just the head on a stand before printing and finishing the body. Thank you for that advice, i will 100% go in this direction.
My favorite print you have done is still General Grievous, absolutely awesome and since seeing it over a year ago i subbed instantly!
Back to back massive droid builds is ridiculous!
Agreed 😂
This is so many!!!! I also love my Kobra 2 Max
That is amazing! I love k2so he’s my fav
WOW! That was an ambitious build. I got a K1 Max recently and bought a 29" machinery stand from Harbor Freight, put a 1/2" plywood top on it and a 60lb concrete paving block on the lower to stabilize it at speed.
Wooooow for real!!! Best video ever I'm about to do it also. Thanks for the tips!!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Nicely done.
sooo good!
BIG, really BIG. Great job.
Amazing work. I look forward to seeing the finished project! I have used both Anycubic and Elegoo for printing and they have just gotten so good with their tech.
Thank you! And yes! It’s really exciting to see all the new advancements in 3D printing technology lately.
Amazing!
So cool, and so ambitious. I have the max also. I have some damage to my body so I need a large build plate to make one of the tools I use to dress and undress. I’ll be following you on the “Tube”.
So cool!!!
Congrats!
Just bought a kobra2 max after watching this just to build a K2so myself.
Love your work !
Awesome!
WOW !!!!!! masterpiece !!!
awesome !
Very impressive!
How great it turned out, it would be so nice to be able to add some type of electronic part to make it move the head or arms for more realism, very good job 🎉
Oh wow, great job! I'd love to have that in my one room apartment 😂
I went ahead and ordered this printer for the ability to print large pieces! Can't wait to try it out.
I've made several full size Daleks and various full size robots like a Gonk droid and K-9 but I haven't tried 3-D printing anything that large yet. All I need is for someone to give me a big ass printer and filament reels stacked up to the ceiling and I'm good to go! ❤
That is one inspiring print to behold! This would take me 3 years with my CR10 and current motivation lol.
Here we go again 🔥
I built my K-SO last year, and it was so much fun. Except the torso was in 4 pieces.
Great video! I was considering a Anycubic Cobra 2 Max for Storm Trooper armour so I would not need to slice helmet or chest armour into smaller pieces.
I'm using a FlashForge Adventurer 4 now and it don't print smooth at all, but Cobra 2 Max gives excellent finish!
just cool
Wow!
WOW! that's it ... just WOW! ... 🖖🖖✌
Dam, I want one. Zero space though. Never seen that plastic welder before looks very useful
OH and a new subscriber too! 🖖👍😃
This is such an awesome build! The sheer size of it is insane. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to do something like this, but I’m only on my first helmet now. I’m using the foot sander you recommend in your videos, but I’m not sure if I’m using it properly. What speed do you usually use for sanding? Should I be pressing hard into the print as well? All your builds have been crazy impressive, I’m shooting for that same level of quality. The plo koon bust was especially amazing
Typically I have it going just under full speed. I find that it overheats a lot faster when it’s going the fastest it can rather than just shy of that. I definitely apply some pressure when using it on a print but I try to have the sander doing most of the work. Some filaments will just sand easier than others.
I feel envy watching this video. My old CR-10 is giving me hell. Layer lines, artifacts, supports are a hell to remove... gosh, I need to get rid of it. You make it look so easy to print
that is so cool
i want one 😏
Hello, have you ever thought of printing the t800 terminator? i love your builds. looking forward to see more Star Wars 3d prints may like R2D2 C3PO....
So cool. That big print anxiety is real! I was 17 hrs into a 35 hr print and the filament had a lump in it that got jammed going into the run-out sensor. Filament eventually broke down at the hot end so the sensor never tripped. I was using a brand of filament I'd never used before and I needed to get this job done but the only other roll I had in the color I needed was this same brand. The reprint ended up turning out great, I probably just caught a manufacturing blip on the first roll, but that was an anxious 35 hours 😅
Yes! I got used to dealing with 48hr+ prints on my CR-10 but with these faster machines, a 2 day print is the equivalent to a 6 or so day print.
Print fails are the worst when it’s something ridiculous like a random filament issue 😭 Glad you managed to get a successful print later!
nice
this is awesome. I have the same printer, could I ask what print settings you are using to make your prints?
Dang - I had a CR-10 S5 back in the day (50cm^3 build volume) and it couldn't print at even half the speed you seemed to be going with results that nice. Maybe large-scale desktop FDM printers are making a comeback.
No Head is Big enough to print a one piece Helmet! Wow!
Hi! just discovered your channel as I was looking for information on the Kobra 2 Max. would you please be willing to tell me the type of slicer that you are using? am currently using Cura Ultimaker 4.12 , but curious if you could recommend a slicer? not many slicers are working nicely with the Kobra 2 max.
Love your building skills! I could learn a thing or two from you. greetings from the Netherlands
I t turned out amazing. What was your thoughts on the Kobra 2 after that much printing?
you should make a dt sentry droid next
Thanks!
Now I have a reference for my next big project. I was surprised that you had not previously had a printer monitoring tool.
@BradfordBenn I have had other printer monitors with octoprint, etc. but it was nice to see it built into the machine and have it easily working.
@@MMsPropShop have you tried Obico with Octoprint? Curious your thoughts, as I am debating about the cost
@BradfordBenn I unfortunately have not.
You are a machine!!!
Dude you are a beast! I've had my fully printed pit droid with just the head finished sitting in my shop for months now mocking me 😂
You deserve way more subscribers!
Just Crazy awsome. Finish is great straight from printer. I might have missed in video, how much filament did you end up using?
Approximately 20 kilograms.
Sweeeeeet 🎉🎉
Wow..
Could you do one of the og droids, maybe r2 or c3p0. The original trilogy props aren’t very popular to make anymore.
3P0 has been on the list for a while. I’ll definitely try to make a point to slip in some OG projects. I just get super excited about all of the new props and designs so I tend to jump between those.
genial
I find your creations to be absolutely fantastic, I can't even imagine what an absurd amount of hours it takes to get each and every part printed off. I was wondering what it's like working with that anycubic filament printer you used most for the body mods, I'd be interested in getting something like that model for my projects.
It’s been an incredibly positive experience using it! No major issues to report in the 7ish months of owning it. It takes up a ton of space though so make sure you’re prepared. Because of its size there’s a lot of weight behind its bed movements so you’d need to make sure it was set up on something incredibly sturdy or even the ground. I have mine on the floor under a bench in my workshop.
@@MMsPropShop Thanks for the heads up, it's definitely one of the things I look forward to getting.
Great video!!!! What slicer are you using? I know that you have to mirror several of the prints for K2 and the AnyCubic slicer does not allow this. Can you tell what is your secret? Thanks!
I’ve been using PrusaSlicer. There are some specific setup steps to get it working properly with the Kobra 2 machines but it’s been smooth sailing ever since.
Thank you great video! How many rolls did it take to complete the project? thank you
About 20kgs.
wow so cool now i want to do how many spools you use for the whole build
Approximately 20kgs
@@MMsPropShop so about 300 in place for that not bad what did u spend in total
Another great video. Thanks for sharing this. Can you tell me what nozzle size, layer height and speed you ended up mostly using?
Thanks! Everything was done using a 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height. Speeds were 190mm/s perimeter, 250 infill, 200 top/bottom, 150 support material and 300 travel.
I think it could have easily handled faster, but the pieces were turning out really great and it was going fast enough for me 😂
@@MMsPropShop Thanks. That's very helpful.
Awesome job! How could your prints look so clean? I have the Kobra 2 Max as well. Could you share your printing settings? Many thanks!
Here’s my PrusaSlicer config: drive.google.com/file/d/1psqDVKy877Ip-p14llSahTuF0iTByX-X/view?usp=drivesdk
I do think a decent amount of the smoothness of the prints can be attributed to the filament. The high speed PLA just seemed to work so well with the machine.
Thank you for sharing the setting and the tips for high speed PLA. Gota try that as well. Cheers@@MMsPropShop
How many spools of filament have you spent making it? I love your work and that droid 🤩
About 20kgs.
@@MMsPropShop Thank you
You need an Elegoo OrangeStorm Giga or whatever its called lol.
Really great video as usual What type of glue did you used to glue the torso part?
The JB Plastic Weld. It’s just so convenient to use with the short set up time.
thanks never tried it@@MMsPropShop
Wow. Now put it on.
How many rolls of filament did you use and what type?
Good god he’s enormous!!
Who did you get your Kobra 2 Max thru ?? Amazon or Anycubic ?? It seems like bad batches of this printer are circulating and a lot of people are getting Lemons !!
‼️ Fan Flipping Tastic‼️
Any tips on planning for filament spool replacements mid-print? I’m always worried about a run out, and spend way too much time staring at a spool that I THINK is almost spent.
It’s like watching a pot of water come to a boil. Slow and tedious.
Thankfully this printer has a filament runout sensor so if I miscalculated I had a backup, but typically when a spool starts running low I’ll set a timer for a slightly shorter time than I think it’s going to take to run out and check back on it to see where the spool is at and keep doing that until it’s time to change. If you’re printing everything at the same speeds on a machine then you’ll start to get the hang of how long it’ll take to go through a certain amount of filament.
@@MMsPropShop Good advice. Thanks!
My Big Neptune has a runout sensor, but I’ve read it isn’t 100% reliable. I like timers. 👊🏾
How much filament in total did this take?
I love your videos! Incredibly inspiring!
But I do not understand why people do not put such a large printer down onto the floor?
It will be getting permanently set up on the floor or something much closer to the floor. It’s just way easier to film when it’s up on a table.
where do you find the file i want to do a C3Po and R2D2 one full size
Wow.
Big Wow!
Bed adhesion question;
Aquanet, Glue Stick, or other?
I didn’t use anything yet on this particular printer’s bed, but lately I’ve been a big fan of bed weld. Glue stick was my previous favourite but the bed weld is so much easier to apply as it is a liquid so you don’t run into the pilling that sometimes happens with glue sticks.
@@MMsPropShop Sounds great. I’ll give it a try. Thank you!
You should make bd 1 with a custom paint job or a b1 battle driod😊
I actually already have a custom BD unit, a B1 has always been on my to do list :)
Michaela- I just added the Max 2 to the printer room. Do you use a PC or Mac for your files? I use Macs have issues finding my print files on the Printer screen to start my designed prints... (Test prints are fine, but the USB shows none of the files that I've sliced and added). Yes, I've checked the USB Drive, and they are on it, until I put it in the printer. Thanks.
I had been using a PC for this machine. The only time I’ve experienced files not showing up on a printer was due to how the USB had been formatted. All it took was reformatting the USB in disk utility to fix it. If the files are in a separate folder on the USB that also sometimes will stop them from showing up.
@@MMsPropShop Michaela- SO much help- thank you. Worked like a dream. Starting a large print on Friday. Would you share the print settings and speed that you used on your K2? The surface profile looks amazing. I feel like I am running it too fast to make a smooth surface. Thanks!
@rodrage you’re very welcome! I’m glad that it worked.
Here is my PrusaSlicer profile: drive.google.com/file/d/1psqDVKy877Ip-p14llSahTuF0iTByX-X/view
Its success/smoothness could be very dependent on what filament you’re using. I found that the Anycubic Rapid PLA was very smooth, to the point that the layer lines almost disappear.
@@MMsPropShop Very grateful - you are amazing. Thank you!!
That freezing issue is a problem on the Kobra 2s They have released firmware upgrades to deal with it but from what I hear its still happeneing. I've had this issue happen 4 times on large multi hour prints. I haven't used my Kobra 2 Max since. I've updated the firmware but I want to make sure its worked out before I waste any more filament
It’s supposedly due to errors during slicing that causes the freezing. There was a theory going around that the screen going to sleep might also have something to do with it. Making sure you’re running through a decent quality USB stick could also solve some issues. That goes for any printer though. I’ve had freezing happen on other machines and it ended up being because of an SD card error.
@@MMsPropShop I contacted anycubic and they sent me a firmware update but they have since released a newer version I will try to upgrade to the latest to see if that helps
