20/20 was successful because it was his first album in like 7 years. It had a ton of hype around it and they rolled it out well. It also helped that "Mirrors" was a huge hit for him. Part 2 didn't sell as well as Part 1 for that same reason. Personally, I didn't care for Man of the Woods but I thought 20/20 was bomb.
Sadly the pop industry is ageist and now that he’s approaching 40 it’s going to get a lot harder to appeal to the young people. The same goes for Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Britney and Beyoncé.
