Dear Liam. You are an inspiration to me. Your videos keep me focused and always entertained. I used to be so outgoing, camping etc.... Then I got diagnosed with sleep apnea and recently, diabetes. I look forward so much to your posts. I have no energy anymore. Keep up the good work chap. You're a fuckin legend!! Bless ya!!!!
since subscribing a month ago i have been to go outdoors bought a load of equipment and camped in the garden for 4 days testing it all and thanks to your inspiration i am going on a few adventures myself so massive thank you
Crazy unexpected weather man 😮 Luckily you are an experience camper and where able to cope with the situation without bailing in a panic . Glad you gain experience with the tent , the next pitch will be top notch ! Thanks for sharing
I loved this adventure. And I admire your food choices. You have to love Spam. Crazy winds I would have moved and pitched lower just to get some sleep. Nice drone shots, a great way to show the beauty of the Haystacks.
Great stuff again and what views, when you got up it did look like there was a fire, anyway that's mountains for you with there own weather system. tent done great 10/10. Take care and see you soon Alan 💯👍.
Haystacks is a unique place to camp,... Camped up there 2006 in a euro hike 4kg,... Great vid Liam, that wind came in real quick... You're braver than me up there in a trekking pole tent.. ATB
An excellent video showing just how the weather can be very different from expected conditions. Your tent certainly did well there mate! Good tips aswell as to how you should prepare should the worst happen. Spot on 👍
Wow! Where did that wind come from!!! Good test for the tent maybe, but didn't see that coming given all that blue sky! Nice hike that, stunning views. And jets mate! You did good to film those things!
Good old buttermere valley, same next door in Ennerdale, you can sit at the bottom end and hear the winds howling down the valley and then BOOM! Its shakeytown time 😂 My favorite places in the world, live just outside of ennerdale, often pitched near to where you are, just a bit back and can see down both valleys, often oussing down in one and sunny in the other. 😊
I enjoyed the video and am impressed by how a trekking pole tent fares in a storm. It must have been a great experience. And the landscape is very beautiful! Wonderful shots 🙂
Mate, I love the Bonfus Duos 2P but I'm not sure she's really the best tent for exposed pitch's in UK weather. Despite their claim about it being a tent for 'Nordic conditions', whatever that means, I reckon there could be more suitable tents for wet and windy UK mountain sides. I like the lightweight simplicity of a single body trekking pole tent but the condensation, relative lack of stability and greaseproof/paper noisy as hell single skin of the Bonfus put me off dispite its crazy ultralight weight. I'm looking for a balance between weight and comfort. Here are a few I've been considering, what do you think? Nemo Hornet Elite Osmo 2P Nemo Dragonfly OSMO 2P Terra Nova Solar Photon 2 MSR FreeLite 2 Person Tent Slingfin 2Lite Tent Big Agnes Fly Creek HV UL2 Solution Dye Tent
Another cracking camping out night adventure. Beautiful surroundings, a totally new area of the UK to me. Heard of Wainwright though. With that wind, a true adventure, when holding on to poles/adrenaline comes into play. Like you mentioned, not the ideal tent for such conditions but still, great performance. With such gusts I'd even be looking for stones to secure pegs for my Soulo (without double staking/et cetera). The spam is making this really edgy though. Then again, most blokes, outdoor or not, have an assortment of sauces to change any dinner into a winner. I certainly do. 🤙
We must have been at Fleetwith same day as you last week- the jets were epic. My bro in the RAF said they were F15s from the US base in Suffolk! Great videos, thanks 😁💪🗻🗻🗻
Hi Mary, I think this was around 10th June, i’m quite ahead with the vids so they are sometimes filmed a few weeks prior to being uploaded 🙂 thanks for the comment
I’ve done the other end, high stile , high crag and Red pike. Red pike is a very interesting climb. Amazing views from the top, Lovely tarn just below it too.
This just shows how quickly the conditions can change and it frightens me to death. I wouldn't have the trust in my gear to risk pitching exposed like this so I stick to the sheltered areas as much as I can. Until I can upgrade my tent of course. Imagine this at 2am 😂 my tent would be left there until the following day. We'll done making it through the night, great video showing how things don't always go as planned.
Great adventure! Thanks for taking us along! Hope for the best, prepare for the worst! And the memorial words were very touching! BTW there would have to be an apocalypse before SPAM touches my Palate! 😂😂😂😂
If I am not mistaken, as you were on a ledge so to speak the wind forces were probably stronger as when the wind hits the ledge it goes up gathers speed and crashed down a bit like a wave hitting rocky cliffs. But don’t quote me on that!
tipi tents and 2 pole versions work the same way. the structural integrity is in the pegs and non-wobbling peaks. the more pegs and rocks on pegs, the better. the less the peaks have any way to wobble, the better. plus, the direction of your ridgeline was the correct way into the wind it seemed, but it relied on your doors being guyed out solidly. these style of tents also benefit from lowering the trekking poles and getting the fly closer to the ground too, which should lessen the parachuting effect. extra pegs for these tents is a must imo. edit: lol literally just got to 34:08 where you say you dropped the poles lol.
They are quite strong, the DCF on this is the strongest material of any tent I have but I know exactly what you mean mate, I feel much safer in the Hilleberg Soulo when on a mountain summit.

Mountains, blue sky and a typhoon jet. What's not to like 😊
Totally agree 🙂
Wind 😂🤷♂️
Well done for getting the accent right when opening the bothy door.
Thanks mate
When you was holding the tent in the Wind I was expecting to see something similar to Mary Poppins. ☂️ 😆👍
😂
@@GoodBlokeOutdoorsshe may have helped 😂🌂☂️
Fantastic trek!!!
The exact same happened to us on Haystacks. Amazing day, got to Innominate Tarn and a weather front came over from Pillar and battered us 😂

A gout flare-up prevents me from hitting the mountains here in Ireland 🇮🇪. Again, it's great to travel with you Liam, cheers and keep safe, L.

A round of applause to the Bonfus Duos 2P! Squeeky bum moment for sure! Great video as always, thanks Liam x

Great video Liam. There is another bothy under where you passed. Warnscale bothy and imo the best in the lakes.
The tent was amazing, the weatherman not so good. The views were absolutely stunning and the time lapse of the sunset was a wow. 😊
I loved this adventure. And I admire your food choices. You have to love Spam. Crazy winds I would have moved and pitched lower just to get some sleep. Nice drone shots, a great way to show the beauty of the Haystacks.
Well done, some excellent footage here and a clever editing . 👏👏
Thanks Lee, appreciate the comment mate.
Sad fact AW passed away the year before Pot Noodle started doing sauce sachets in every pot 😥
No way!
I apply a full proper skoosh of tomato ketchup to each beef n tomato pot noodle I have, and I like to believe Wainwright would've done the same.
@@sbmoonbeam 😂
Another brilliant video, some fascinating facts aswell about Wainwright, The Lakes are absolutely beautiful, carnt wait for nxt Monday Liam, luv ya ❤
Thank you Tracy, really appreciate the comments and support 🤍
Like how you say it as it is😂
Thanks bro
Great stuff again and what views, when you got up it did look like there was a fire, anyway that's mountains for you with there own weather system. tent done great 10/10. Take care and see you soon Alan 💯👍.
I've played badminton in worse conditions than that🤣🤣, great video.

Thanks mate, I should of had a wonder on.
Another cracking video Liam, you really go through the mill for us viewers. Can't wait for the next episode

edit: lol literally just got to 34:08 where you say you dropped the poles lol.
Nice day for a walk😂well done bro, that wind was brutal 👍
Another cracking video! How many wainwrights have you ticked off up to date??
Those trekking pole tents freak me out mate, not gonna lie. Great for trails and treks, I wouldn't be pitching them on mountains tho personally.
They are quite strong, the DCF on this is the strongest material of any tent I have but I know exactly what you mean mate, I feel much safer in the Hilleberg Soulo when on a mountain summit.
You can't beat a bit of lake district weather 😂
What a cool place to camp ❤
Brilliant Liam - the look of sheer shitting yourself when that wind picked up was priceless ! brilliant video as always my friend ! keep them coming
a fair dinkum bloke no b/s tell it how it is. Good on you mate from australia
