Congratulations on the Tuna guys, great trucks they are, maybe if your new to the DPF world, get them to give you a good run down on how it all works, lights on dash high revving etc...So she doesn't freak out the 1st time it does a burn... Only other drama we've had is popping intercooler hoses off when towing, their always on boost the autos when working hard...
I'm just about to buy the kumho road venture mt51 31x10.5r15 for my ln106 Hilux, seems like their going to be a good choice, with your video of the MT71Road Venture 285 75 16 has made me even more confident. cheers
I am running the size up on a LC200 and like you it corrected my Speedo so it is now almost on checked with GPS. However, the odometer is now reading about 5% under check via GPS so it appears from fa Tory the speedo over-reads by about 5% but the odometer is accurate.
they are a nice muddy, a mate run's them on his 75 , he just said make sure that you rotate them every 5000km if you are doing a lot of road driving, as the outside edge lugs can wear a bit on the front (could be because of the vehicle ) but it will be interesting to see what you think of them after 15000km Denny 😁👍
@Drecnh Hey Denny I'm interested in your decision process regarding the portals on your upcoming 79. Is there a reason you chose to go portals over a SSM coil conversion? Do you worry at all about the longevity of the portal axles? Could you please touch on this in an upcoming vid or comment down here. Placing an order for a 76 - Waterloo told me wait time for build is 2-3 years 😲I want to go down the SSM path but the coil conversion looked like better value for money to me. Cheers!
Thanks for the question, and wow 2-3 years, wonder what it is for the 79s, no wonder the 2nd hand market is so hot, yes worked on part 2 of the Kumho test and yes will do a little reply in that episode, have been asked that a bit of late..
The Speedo calibration thing is in part due to (a)vehicle manufacturers being douchebags and (b) ADR18/03 (a) if the vehicle tells you you are traveling at a higher speed and covering more distance than you really are, it means your service interval pops up sooner than it should, it makes you think your tyres last longer than they really do, it makes you think you’re getting better fuel economy than you really are; it generally reduces wear and tear and makes your feel better than you should about your shiny new automobile. (b) ADR 18/03 is full of technical jargon but boils down to, for most vehicles manufactured from 2006, the allowable speedo error is a bit more than 10% and MUST NOT display a speed lower than the actual road speed. The previous rule allowed about 5% over or under, which was vastly more accurate, but it did allow the “inaccurate speedo” defense in court for speeding offenses. The actual rule is 0
the 79 looks great Denny with the Toyota bar, those tyres look awesome
Cheers Rolly B
Look forward to your videos. Entertaining and always informative.
I appreciate that! Thank you Richard
Good advice Denny! And also, the handbrake ordered her new Fortuner, any thing we need too be aware of when she takes delivery.

Those GXL rims are usually stamped 7J X 16. How did you get them in 7.5" width?
Thats what they measured up on the boys balancing machine..HMMMM

Not yet, apparently theres a massive wait on orders taken now..Im thinking xmas for my 2nd one.
Does your 285/75r16 spare still fit under your tray?
No, still got factory tyre underneath...
How do you go getting a 285/75/16 under the tray?
I dont, still a stock spare underneath..
