Recently, Formula 1 and the FIA tested new cockpit screens to improve safety in wet conditions, aiming to reduce water spray that impairs visibility. Various screen configurations were tested on a Ferrari at Fiorano circuit, but the results were unsatisfactory. The FIA concluded that the screens offered minimal benefits as most water spray comes from the rear diffuser. Due to this and past unsuccessful tests, the FIA decided against further testing. Alternative solutions are being explored. Nicholas Tombazis of the FIA acknowledged the complexity of the issue but assured that new ideas are being considered. Consequently, the use of cockpit screens in Formula 1 is scrapped. Opinions on this decision are welcome.
