Incredible effort! I'm just sitting here in sheer awe of what Brant accomplished. Props for shooting nearly everything whilst doing this impressive monster of a climb! Just wow!
having climbed el cap several times I really enjoyed this video ... all the great joy and daring situations came back to my mind ... GREAT CLIMB AND GREAT VIDEO ... thank you
What and incredible feat and an incredible watch!! Great job on both your accomplishment and documenting it!! Way to finish it with such class at the end!!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!! - Marci
Hell yeah! What a journey! I love this. Thank you for creating and sharing the process with us. I'm so glad you're safe too! I took a big fall 10 months ago on my right SI joint while climbing and I still haven't healed yet, can barely walk or stand. Been super difficult to imagine going back to climbing even though I miss it, but this film gave me those first feelings I ever felt the first time I climbed on granite outside. 🥰 And it gave me hope in the power of determination.
Jennifer! Stoked to hear it got those endorphins firing! Hope your recovery is going well. Don't forget to rest and rehab! Hopefully ill see you out on the rocks in no time!
I am so proud that you made it up to el cap that has to be a very hard climb but not only physical but mentally I love watching these kinds of videos I hope you had an amazing time and can’t wait to see you and Brittany- Peyton
That was absolutely a brilliant piece of climbing and in my humble opinion extremely historical. I love the self talking to hype yourself up. A very well filmed and edited film with gripped scenes and funny moments. Love it!!!!!
So epic! Thanks for sharing this story. Incredible to see what a regular climbing bum is capable of. I always enjoy your stoke, self-talk, determination, and, most of all, sing-alongs. Congrats!
On ya Brant. Awesome achievement. I have watched many of your videos- maybe Serenity Crack was the first, Kaukulator, Verdon, wiring up your van and so on. I have enjoyed them all but none of them match this one. I think you are deserving of that highest Yosemite accolade…….Stone Master.
Congrats on the record! Nice production, I took my time, didn't rush viewing it. So nice to see places I've heard about but will never be in person. The headwall is amazing!
Riveting! Thanks for sharing your climb with humanity. That was a pretty scary fall, dude! Congrats on obtaining that climb record! I gave yourself and your broski, Aaron a ride to your van last year post Salathé wall climb. May the amazing adventures continue!
Man, let me tell you how excited I was to watch this video. What a great effort and determination!! Rope Soloing on single pitch is one thing, but to be on the wall for multiple days and having to psyche yourself none stop is another. It takes a strong mindset, understanding gear and not to forget balls of steel to pull it off. Much respect to you my friend, well done and I’m hoping to see more ascents like this one in the future. Rock and roll bro💪💪🤘👍😀
Amazing achievement and awesome film! Crazy how that "some guy called Alex" dude went and did the rope solo in just 11h 18min right after. Probably placed max 1 piece of protection per pitch
But imagine being Peter Haan on the first rope solo 50+ years ago! And he bivied at the lip of the roof, in a hammock, which is the start of the headwall. And Peter had no filmers and almost no one even knew he was up there. Rescue would have been exceptionally difficult.
Woahhh that is mega!! can you share the link to where you read that? I am always inspired by those who came before us and did it with much less technical gear!
Crushed it Brant! so stoked you made it. You put in the work and topped out an amazing route in such a cool fashion. look mom its mee! 43:42 (I've been waiting to see this posted to see if i made the final edit :P)
Great video!! I'm just an ol sick woman in the Louisiana swamps living vicariously thru your videos. Oh and learning a lot about something I'll never do lol 😊🧡 ~Peace &Love ☮️ 💜 ☯️ From, New Orleans 🐊 🎷 🎼 🎺
Loved this brant and gravity lab team. Thanks for sharing! I could help to think of those piton scared being made back in the day as you kept popping out cams haha.
Late bloomer this is inspiring. I do a bit of a rope soloing and I’m pretty much a nobody I’m not like a big hard climber but planning to attempt to rope solo in Alaska for me as a black person. This is brand new but I know other people before me have done this so it’s nothing brand new, lovely video
Impresionante!! 💥Enhorabuena por la actividad, enhorabuena por el video.. enhorabuena maquina!! 🦾Gracias por compartirlo, es muy motivador para los que intentamos hacer cosas menores en rope solo. He alucinado!! Gracias 🤟
This is a pretty sweet feat for someone to definitely dangerous and intensive. What sucks is after alex solod this route everyones paradigm shift has shifted lol. Crazy to think.
Great question! I would say the danger comes from the long runouts, but the exposure comes moreso from how the wall leans back over towards the valley and all of a sudden you go from secure corners to 3,000 feet off the deck!
Amazing climb and film Brant! Was just wondering what setup did you use for your personal tether/adjustable daisies for those aid sections. Is it 2 connect adjusts with your own rope on it (girth hitched on your belay loop)?
Typically they go for less than that (roughly 1400 on avg). But yeah, every now and then the prices spike (probably every time a RUclipsr mentions them)😂
Looked like a BD C4 #6 up the flake, as opposed to a DMM Dragon #8. Think I'll go with them for my bigger cams, maybe big bros to but they can't slide up with you as you go. Totems and some kind of micros maybe aliens.
Kinda messed up that Alex Honnold came along and took the record from Brant so quickly. Like come on man, at least show a little class. Let Brant bask in his win for a little bit. I love stories Like this. The underdog takes the win. You are amazing brant, I hope to climb with you one day.
This was amazing! I have no connections to climbing, can someone please help me understand, I often watch these amazing climb videos but one thing that's always missing is hooooow the hell do you guys come down and how long does that take? It's never on video and it's something that intrigues me the most. I ride bicycle a lot, and when I go on couple days ride it's always the hardest when I have to turn around and come back home, I cannot imagine what is the feeling of climbing something like this behemoth and than looking down and have to climb down to earth. Thank you in advance for answers
Cinematography 10/10, Commentary 10/10, Climbing 10/10, Beard 10/10 🔥
AYYYY its like it runs in the family or something!! Cheers buddy!
Dude climbs an 8a and suddenly he's a full blown pro with his own movie😊. It was a pleasure to watch, thanks!
HAHA well said! Except I'm the one who does all the editing and shooting. Thanks for joining!

Thanks so much lisa!!

Thanks so much Heinz! It takes a couple trips up the captain to properly know the feelings involved!
F**K YEAH Brother!!!! That's how you crush it! Super happy for you! Rock On!!!
Rock on Bobby! Hell yeah brotherrrr!
Dude, solid work!! Always enjoy watching you crush on the walls while listening to you and the commentary along the way! "just a little bit"! 😃👊
Hahha thanks dude! Not a lot...

Crushed the film!! So good dude 🙌🏼
Hell yeah! Thanks for the guidance my dude!

Ayy thanks for being a sounding board along the way!
Incredible effort man and props for shooting the whole thing whilst going for the record! This was a fun watch 🤙
Big thanks Matt! Certainly added a little bit of nuance to manage both, but glad I did so I could share it with all of you🫡

Thanks Jack! We gotta linkup again soon! Been too long
Can't believe this video doesn't have more views. Congrats on your achievement!
Watched over two morning before work. Great presentation of what all went down! Really enjoy your videos, they always get me soooo stoked to climb!

So stoked I just caught this. Love gravity lab! Keep crushing it!!!! 🍻
Cheers! Will do!
What a great feat! Huge congrats!!! Then comes that Honnold guy and takes 11 hours 😅
truth! Records was meant to be broken!
Dude, congrats on this! So huge!
Inspiring! Maybe one day I'll be able to do a big wall after seeing this.. but definitely not solo lol! Sick job
Ay Cheers homie! You can def do it! Definitely want to start with a partner though haha
The granite sparkling in the head torch is so beautiful, what an amazing place to climb.
Congratulations, man! That was killer!
Cheers homie!!
really really inspiring stuff Brant, absolutely great job
Proud work, Brant!
Big ups!!
WOO THAT IS AWESOME, I LOVE ROPE SOLO. CONGRATULATION FROM MEXICO.
Love this film.... just a little bit ! (actually a lie, loved it so much. Your self-talk throughout the night was hilarious and relatable haha)

frickin awesome dude!
Big thanks Nick!
Absolutely and totally crazy feat! Well done congratulations =)
Nice film! Beautiful shots
Cheers! Glad you enjoyed it
bro you are a beast, watching you tip out that #6 made my stomach turn, and you are just laughing.
Haha thanks Cory! Sometimes laughter is the best way to make a serious situation seem less intense!
Yeah scary. Nothing worse than persisting with walking a piece until it ceases to even be a piece.
Well it WAS a kinda nervous chuckle. :|
28:57 nice darn toughs! I have the same pair, love them!
Nice job dude!
Bravo! Nice movie man!
Merci beaucoup mon ami! Il faut grimper beaucoup cet automne!
Love from Italy ❤ this is great
Thanks so much! We will be back in italy soon!
@@GravityLabz hope this content will get the visibility it deserves. Enjoy Italy when you’ll get back here
26:59 hands sweating. When you called the totally tipped out cam bomber 😅
HAHA you and me both! But such a fun time! After all, that portion was only 5.9 wide...
Loved this brant and gravity lab team. Thanks for sharing! I could help to think of those piton scared being made back in the day as you kept popping out cams haha.
Thanks so much! We really enjoyed the process. Haha yes definitely fun trying to find decent placements in horrible pin scars!
Impressive! Nice work! 🙌
so cool, well done mate!

amazing absolutely amazing
Good job bro!
Oliver Tippet is crushing it right now. Dude soloed Reticent, Sea of Dreams and Zenyata. No one else is coming close.
this is so sick dude ty for the video
Any chance of an uncut video of the climb? That would be insane to watch.
Hey fatboi! Any particular pitches? I just set up my Patreon and could certainly throw some of the pitches in there!
www.patreon.com/GravityLab?
Congrats!
Thanks Riccardo!
That's a fat fnckiug loop! Don't fall. Hehehe! Awesome!
Hehe you get it Yann!
@@GravityLabz I had a close epic right there. I’ll tell you when we meet ;-)
Never actually seen the monster offwidth pov before. I’ve heard about the tipped out #6 cam but did not expect it to be that bad
great job man well done! give me the fucking fear right enough 😂
Haha gotta do it!
27:14 This is the only way to handle the situation 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 I love it
wow man ! good you survived
This is a pretty sweet feat for someone to definitely dangerous and intensive. What sucks is after alex solod this route everyones paradigm shift has shifted lol. Crazy to think.
Sick.
27:25 at least I have one really bomber piece. Nervous chuckle ensues as he shifts up his completely maxed out nr 6 :)
incredible
Thanks for the video! Do you think the exposure comes more from ledges or bad cam placements or long run outs?
Great question! I would say the danger comes from the long runouts, but the exposure comes moreso from how the wall leans back over towards the valley and all of a sudden you go from secure corners to 3,000 feet off the deck!

thanks ian!
Amazing film! Can you share how old are you and what is your training? I am very inspired and want to discover what it takes to make this! Thank you
Hey Martin! Yeah I am 32. Are you talking about climbing training or video training?
@@GravityLabz climbing training, I am 37 and want to know whether is possible to climb El Cap when I devote my training towards it
This makes free soloing look very attractive.
Just imagining Alex Honold free soloing this cliff is just horrific... its unreal when you see the scale of the face..
Amazing climb and film Brant! Was just wondering what setup did you use for your personal tether/adjustable daisies for those aid sections. Is it 2 connect adjusts with your own rope on it (girth hitched on your belay loop)?

Inspirational. I still have my silent partner from a long time ago. I saw someone was trying to sell one on eBay for $2,500, LOL.
Typically they go for less than that (roughly 1400 on avg). But yeah, every now and then the prices spike (probably every time a RUclipsr mentions them)😂
Did I like this video? Just a little biiiit
not a lot bbgirl....
Great storytelling and impressive life achievement. Can I ask what kind of back up you were using in the event of the SP failure?
Looked like a BD C4 #6 up the flake, as opposed to a DMM Dragon #8. Think I'll go with them for my bigger cams, maybe big bros to but they can't slide up with you as you go. Totems and some kind of micros maybe aliens.

You new school climbers can't climb a barstool without making a video
3:15 stoked squirrel in the crack :D
haha good eye!!
@@GravityLabz Quite surprised it's not gotten too fat to scale anything beyond a campsite table
Nice work and video! Slumping the silent partner in some of those squeezes sounds like work!
Let’s get a Spotify playlist?
If i never watched alex free solo el cap in 4 hours id be impressed with this video
there are few honors greater than having a yosemite speed record broken by honnold
Hes kinda a dbag for immediately doing that though. and obv honnold free soloed huge swaths, brant full ropesolo
The real solo adventure was to edit this video 😂
Truth!! What an adventure that was!
What happens to all the clamps you put into the rocks? Do you decend same way and collect?
