  • Before last night, this was the last time we won on a goal line stand.

40 years later, and I still can’t understand why Illinois would call a running play on that fourth-and-goal situation.

my memories: eason had been hit so much he had an uncontrollable nosebleed...they didnt send you off for that back in the day...
the michigan players dancing at the end were making fun of illinois' oliver williams, who always did that dance, and may have, in this game.
jerry burgei made an interception that would have won the game but the refs missed it and there was no replay back then.
illinois moved the ball all day long. i'd bet they ran twice as many plays.
    thanks WH!

Didn't we beat Penn State on a goal-line stand early in the series? I could swear we did - I think they took 4 straight shots from within a couple yards.

+TheDietrichDaniels Yes, 1993. But that happened on the first play of the 4th quarter, not at the end of the game.

I remember that I watched the game . Illinois could beat Michigan in few seconds ,but then failed to score in 4th down .

Michigan making a stop without relying on the other team to let the clock run down!

Keith Jackson showing his typical hatred of Michigan and Bo Schembechler in every game he called. He sounded like he was almost crying at the end. How that guy was able to call all those Wolverine games on the national level when he despised the team so much is beyond me.

He called those games because he was a legendary broadcaster.

Oh well, Illinois still won the title for the ugliest uniforms in college football.
