He and that jumping gazelle in the background was the best part of the movie. The fact that he sounded like Bascov and dressed like Kirkorov (the Russian singer the actor was inspired for the personage) was priceless, sadly it’s something that only Russians can appreciate. But at least the “He/Him” and the “mother Russian don’t letting him to be happy” was evident for everyone, it’s nice to see that they added social/politics criticism presented as a comedy.

Besides exploiting some stereotypes about russian oligarchs and trolling gay theme (fairly), the character is surprisingly so positive and adorable. I was expecting some evil twist, but no, just a super hot and reach guy.

Actually, he didn't have to audition. The director, David Dobkin, came to him because he had him in mind, thinking he might be able to pull of this comic/tragic role. Dan had to be really convinced, and after the movie was finished, David Dobkin and the entire cast were completely in awe of what Dan did with the role. Beyond all expectations!!
