In an industry over-saturated with appliance-like crossovers and the emergence of EVs, this is a breath of fresh air. Thank you Toyota and Subaru for continuing to cater to enthusiasts! This car is elegant and the ducktail spoiler accentuates the natural curves of the car. And I'm glad it's not turbocharged; I feel like that would take away from the spirit of the car. Great work! Wait til the aftermarket gets a hold of this one! (Myself included)
Most modern (since mid 90’s) Toyota cars are the worst ‘drivers’ cars available (no, not power, but driving feel) - think Camry, Corolla.... luckily, this car is Subaru (and Toyota).
@@MKu64 its because those toyota's arnt designed to be drivers cars, they are for another type of buyer who thinks of driving as a chore and would rather have a car with low service costs and high reliability. Toyota can build a car for enthusiasts if they want too, true sports/super cars such as the LC 500 or LFA. There isnt any point making a camry a sports sedan with 'precise handling' and 'responsive throttle' if the people who buy camrys dont really care about it.

I'm going to warn you right now, it is temporary. If too few people buy cars like this, the BRZ, upcoming Z coupe, and other enthusiast cars, then these will be the last of them.
Thank you Toyota and Subaru for this. As awesome as it has become to see so many sports cars push the limits of tech and engineering to achieve new things, I think cars like this are special. Usable power and dynamics that could even make a daily commute fun without the fear of jail lol. I hope these cars last on the road I can't wait to see how they age too. Feels like it might be very sought after in a future without any N/A or ICE motors. Either way it's a breath of fresh air to see in a corporate landscape of crossovers = sales or sports cars becoming overpowered/detached and way too expensive that this can continue to exist and get better.

It's more the haters that parade the "iT's NoT a rEaL SuPra!" than us owners. We all know what we bought. Most often the car gets complimented from other car fans or just non car people asking about it since it's very uncommon. It's just kids who don't even drive that think they're funny with the BMW jokes. No one complained about the 86 being a Subaru, then there's the MKIV fanboys that hate on the BMW collab. The car at least is more different to the Z4 than the 86 with BRZ. Regardless of this car being controversial, I always catch people breaking their necks to it.
As an MKIV owner, i will say OUT LOUD that new Zupra is not a fuking Supra. Its a FUKING bmw all FUKING day long. Get off your high horse and get out of denial, its a fuking BMW ... Nothing about that Zupra is Toyota Supra other than the badges on it. On a technicality yes its a Supra but deep down inside its a BMW and even the BMW fan boys are accepting IT as a bmw because they KNOW it has THEIR in-line 6 inside and THEIR chassis ....

I think this engine will be a way better power plant considering it’s the same engine from the Subaru ascent without the turbo. Should make for easy turbocharging.
This honestly hits the right ticks with me and I don't like most of toyota's new cars but the gt86 i already liked but the thought of even better handling more power and amenities is pretty neat as well as still giving a manual option
my first car purchase was a pre-owned '17 86. Loved driving that car; over 30k miles in the year that i've owned it. I hope my Toyota dealership will let me trade it in, and become the first owner of a white GR86! crossing my fingers!
