In june 2014 I was 164, In december 2013 I was 190. In 2015 I went through depression, anxiety and stress overload. All the hardwork went out and now I am in 200. I've done it before but I have problems retaking the same pattern. The mentality one has affects your diet 100%.
This guy gives very diplomatic answers in many points (in contrast with Firas)... I guess when something is for FREE, some ppl are not keen to speak clearly about things ;)
Nutrition is one of the most complicated aspect of life in general, the information the better(especially if good quality), thanks to Georges for his time.
I found this so helpful. I have been eating "better" but haven't had any changes. Lockhart's analogy with finance really help. I am in debt and I have to take a lot more seriously and I agree for a person like me a cheat day can undo all my work from the week. I am going to try to go 3 weeks without a cheat day and a more strict diet.
Nutrition is such a hard area for me to find good knowledge in. I really appreciate you guys doing this, and it would be awesome if Georges launched a RUclips channel. I'll start doing the honey trick before conditioning; sounds like something really useful.
really informative, although I was aware of a few things but learned a whole leap of new stuff from this video, Can't wait to watch video 2, Thanks Tristar Gym, Quest Nutrition, Reebok and George Lockhart, you guys are great.
Firas Zahabi ya habibe first off all thank you for all the free content. I have been training shotokan for 8 years and just started bjj and your videos have helped me alot. Your instructional videos are very well explained and if not one of the best I can find. I just wanted to add my opinion/expierence about the vitamine b12 deficiency that was said. Personally I have met somebody who had a b12 deficiency who was eating meat at that stage (unhealthy food not clean foods) and this was cured by changing and eating a vegetarian diet. I know vegans can have a vitamine b12 deficiency, but I believe this is because they eat junk food and not clean foods with all the vitamines. If you eat clean organic meat you will probably still get vitamine b12. Most livestock (not organic) need a supplementation of b12 because the medication they get is destroying the bacteria in their intestine. I am not bashing here an anyone that eats meat I had meat myself many years and I respect everybody choice. I just wanted to mention that after 3 years eating a vegan diet WITH cheat meals I have no signs off b12 deficiency and I workout 4-6 times a week. Much love and peace love your videos!
How's the no b12 going now? Are you more than 3 years into it now? McDougal says you can go 3-5 years without b12, from using up stores in the liver.but after that you need it. Be interested to know ur experience? Tks
Love the analogy George uses about dieting and finances. He’s also so right for staying strict and cheating very rarely. Cheating more and then paying your debts, and acting like you won’t get behind makes no sense though. You are using your finances to pay the debt, meaning you have less finances then people that stay true to the diet. You are fueling the Ferrari with crap food and then expecting to “pay the debt” and outwork what you would have done if you were fueled properly. Let me fuel the body with cheaper and less nutritious food and then expect it to go farther than I would have if I practiced proper nutrition and stuck to the diet. Saying you are going to “pay the debt” after those cheat days doesn’t make sense bc are you not pushing yourself to the max on every workout anyway. Are you only going the extra mile on your workouts after your cheat days?? True champions do everything on and off the field to perform to their max. Taking cheat days and acting like it won’t affect performance is illogical.
Brilliant, has helped me add key elements to my routine and working it into my lifestyle and work out programme, little things like honey and coffee before a workout and a protein shake with porridge in the morning so my body uses recovery as well as morning and evening cinnamon tea killing sugar cravings. All together has enabled me to streamline my nutrition
This was AWESOME!!, loved it, thank you so much for sharing, I learned some stuff... who knew, lol! I am going to check out your site and see what it takes to get going! God bless, I look forward to more of these! thanks guys!!
I just saw George on JRE a couple days ago and I must say, Gorgey got hella porgey in 2 years! Still the master of his craft though, no doubt about it!
Im realy greatfull for this video. Watching it for the third time to learn as much as possible. But i have a question: to have energy for my training, i should have some protein before to release glucagon. On the other hand, with a full stomach my body always needs part of my energy to digest. What is the right time to eat before Training and what are good proteins for this jobs? Vegan opportunities are welcome. Thanks a lot for your work guys!
Firaz I know your a busy man, but like many fans I would love if you could do a podcast or upload these videos to podcast format. I have listened to your inside quest interview several times on podcast format. Keep up the good work regardless.
Yeah! Please get him a channel to answer more questions, haha. For example, with Conor McGregor having multiple training sessions a day (burning calories), how much & when would he eat to support this jump in weight? Is like with Berardi's GSP meal plan based on Anytime & Post-workout meals?
The primary source of fuel in the state of non diabetic ketosis is fat, not protein. The acetone smell on the breath is from the breakdown of acetoacetic acid from lipids.
Protein also stimulates insulin. Glucagon is also involved in breaking down amino acids. Firas, in the first 5 minutes of this video Georges makes a lot of very basic errors in physiology. I'm sure he can help MMA fighters lose weight as macronutrient manipulation, ergogenic use, lipolytics have been discussed in magazines for decades. He might be an expert in MMA nutrition (whatever that is), but his advice has more holes than low glycemic swiss cheese.
I mean look at his resume. What he is doing works. No one knows the perfect way to eat or whats the best way but his way has a plan and it works so you can hate all you want but you can’t hide his success and how his methods are working!
☝️I doubt the legitimacy of your textbook; but most of all doubt your basic understanding therein. You think your textbook itself isn’t flawed? Go do something great with that knowledge of yours and be sure to bring your flash cards 😭😭😭
i cut out caffeine out of my diet, and the first two months I had a horrible headache. Now that I don't drink anything with caffeine I feel a lot better, so I'm sure it's sound advice but i don't want to experience those headaches again, so no caffeine for me.
EXcellent video, for real. So much knowledge. Just had a question, so pre training (Muay Thai or explosive cardio) meaning what 30 mins b4, a simple whey protein w caffeine yes? And if so,can you take the whey n caffeine w a spoonful of honey?
Awesome video, man. But I have a question that no one gave me an answer to. I live in a city that doesn't have any MMA gym. I don't even have a training partner, what should I work on until I get a chance to find a gym or a training partner?
Hi, what is the best thing to eat after late training but before bed? For example my training ends at 9 pm by the time I get home and eat it's kinda late and I have to go to bed within the hour after my meal . Usually I'll eat plain Greek yogurt and berries or have a green smoothie. Is there anything better ? Please advise. Thank you

thank you for taking the time to do this; i found this very insightful

I don't think George answers a lot of questions fully and clearly if I'm honest.
please start your podcast Firas. Greetings from germany

I like that analogy: "dieting is like finances" haha! And I like Firas' philosophy of train hard and get more cheat meals :)
really informative, although I was aware of a few things but learned a whole leap of new stuff from this video, Can't wait to watch video 2, Thanks Tristar Gym, Quest Nutrition, Reebok and George Lockhart, you guys are great.

What do you think about potatoes and fried potatoes?
And oils? olive, coconut, etc.
The primary source of fuel in the state of non diabetic ketosis is fat, not protein. The acetone smell on the breath is from the breakdown of acetoacetic acid from lipids.

Agreed. Big fan of Zahabi & Lockhart...just started taking a physiology class and even his "science" sounded a little fuzzy to me.
Some shite being said in this. Madness how people get away with it.
I mean look at his resume. What he is doing works. No one knows the perfect way to eat or whats the best way but his way has a plan and it works so you can hate all you want but you can’t hide his success and how his methods are working!

i agree with this statement HAHA
Cool video Firas ! Thank you :D

Great Advice! Thanks
super interview
great video as always, but what was their point about water. i didnt understand exactly what they meant
Same. I was also curious what he was about to say.
+MYC i think they mean just drink a lot of it
+Jason Beatzz I think so too but I would like Firas to clarify that
sure pray that he seas this
+Jason Beatzz ha yeah, basically he was saying it is simple... one of the key things is drinking gallons and gallons of water!
Amazing video
This was great
fyi it's good to be hungry guys. Intermittent fasting is the best remedy for all ailments and cutting weight.
i cut out caffeine out of my diet, and the first two months I had a horrible headache. Now that I don't drink anything with caffeine I feel a lot better, so I'm sure it's sound advice but i don't want to experience those headaches again, so no caffeine for me.
It looks like his older self is giving nutrition advice to his younger self.
EXcellent video, for real. So much knowledge. Just had a question, so pre training (Muay Thai or explosive cardio) meaning what 30 mins b4, a simple whey protein w caffeine yes? And if so,can you take the whey n caffeine w a spoonful of honey?
It'd be great to see more of George!
Awesome video, man. But I have a question that no one gave me an answer to. I live in a city that doesn't have any MMA gym. I don't even have a training partner, what should I work on until I get a chance to find a gym or a training partner?
What is the best cardio to burn fat
Walk one hour a day
The one that is most consistent for you
Uphill sprints on an empty stomach.

thanks Firas :) keep it up man
