“Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one”
― Bruce Lee
What a great quote.
OSS! 🙏🏻
Don't ask for light weights, ask for stronger arms
Or, "do not pray"
I thought it was " acquire the strength "
I could listen to firas zahabi talk all day, everyday. This man is a pool of knowledge. Thank you for this video
100% agree, the man devoted 20 yrs to philosophy alone. So if you wanna learn and learn fast, Firas is going to compress and ooze knowledge when he open his mouth. It's like every sentence is music to the ear, full of wisdom. Love him, i am glad that he is a brother in faith, our communities need more people like him who are just great human specimen. 6:17 amazing msg!
A pool of "belief"...
Sike
Couldn't agree more - his commentary on just about any topic - philosophy to fighting is magical. Great thinker.
He's pretty cool
I wish Firas was my older brother
+Eugene Song or some kind of personal life guru lol
Are you my daddy?
i wish he was my gf
@@quest1524 Or some kind of...coach...or something...
Eugene Song I wish he was my dad
The type of dude to knock you out and still be your boy
He is not only MMA expert but also Man of Knowledge and Reason.
He’s like everybody’s big brother. What a humble guy. 👊🏼🍻
I'm a female endurance runner, but I love the MMA fighter mindset. I fight. It's just a different type of fight:)).
Mix them both together like the Diaz bros
Damn right. Keep going!
BB Jonas you run
I'm just wondering, genuinely curious, why was the female aspect important? MMA has female fighters too.
I love you
Old Japanese proverb: Seven Times Fall Down, Eight Times Get Up..
Old Indian Proverb: Mehendi(henna Natural Hair Color) gives out its colour after its crushed on stone
Firas Zahabi, Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson... just some of the men who I have never met, yet have played a crucial role in developing my understanding of existence in a way that helps me to become a better human being
What fascinates me about this guy is that so much of his assessments on his sport, he translates (on the spot, while he's actually talking about his sport) into life lessons.
'Consistency over intensity' I love that one
Firas ...a true ambassador of this sport with a ton of humility and life lessons!
"Men who wrestle, who box.. they're still cultivating that culture"
we are cultivating the Spartan culture.
We are Cultivating the Warrior way.
ive been in a mental slump recently and the second i hear that my spirits are way lifted 🙂
Im a wrestler, whos been training in taekwondo and have recently joined a Kickboxing class but..
Hearing that quote makes me feel alot better for absolutely no reason 😄
Im also a wrestler and maybe because your a wrestler who can learn and add tools quickly you might be beating guys that have been doing karate or kick boxing for years idk I'm just guessing, all ik is the mediocre ppl that have a self defense on their repertoire that isn't wrestling, and they see a wrestler add another set of tools alot get intimidated and that's when you might see women like behavior, not all but theirs jealous dudes out their ik dealing with that once in a while can be a pain in the ass but just remember your roots, and I would subscribe to this guy, he's been in gsp career the whole way through.
I cannot remember who said this, but I think it's good advice: 'Life is not about escaping suffering and pain, but rather learning to accept they exist and learn to live with them.' Suffering and pain can be great teachers.
The "who" you're looking for is the Buddha, and the "advice" is the Four Noble Truths. You seem to have grasped them intuitively. Well done.
Being rich and comfortable by historical standards may be the source of depression. If there's nothing to strive for, all is lost.
Very well said, I think you’re absolutely right there.
Like in the video game Dark Souls, if you dont have anything to fight for everything becomes meaningless and you become a empty husk waiting out your days being controlled by your lowest urges.
My father used to say that "he'd been rich, and he'd been poor, and, believe me, rich is better". I believe him. Bad things are going to happen to you. You just have to fight through them. That being said, destroying you body and brains through fighting is not going to help you in the long run.
sweyn forkbeard of course id rather be rich, but I’d rather be poor and happy than rich and miserable
sweyn forkbeard I’d rather be rich too but you’ll never be grateful for being rich if you’re never poor.
There’s a huge difference when a guy has inherited wealth than someone who builds his wealth from poverty. The difference is in character, that rich guy who inherited it won’t feel as grateful as the one who was in poverty. The rich won’t really see value in their wealth and the person who builds it sees the value in it much more and able to manage their wealth much better than the inherited person.
Character matters not the wealth in the end. That is what makes us a better human being not wealth.
firas out here webcasting like the cool big brother we never had.
He is a well spoken man, I mean just unbelievably articulate. Godspeed brother.
I heard of Mr. Zahabi first as a famed trainer of MMA champions, and then saw him speaking for the first time on the Joe Rogan Experience two days ago. What a pleasure to encounter such a wise and knowledgeable man. I do believe I need to learn some Jiu jitsu now.
he his beyond his years. smart guy.
james Lukić and Muslim
It's the average person if they lived for 1000 years basically. Some people just take in knowledge and process it at a much quicker rate than the normal person. The knowledge I gain in ten years of life firas may gain in one
Powerful Firas Zahabi
His 'we're tiny compared to the whole universe' is a good one and something I use.
At the end of the day we all die and in the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean a thing.
Lots of truth in this man> weakness of mind is big, but in addition, life's struggles have become so small in comparison to the struggle to find food, shelter, food, etc... that we are depressed to to lack of anything meaningful. Most people work for someone else, doing something they hate, being a a cog, come home to sleep and watch TV. The answer is to elevate your existence to reflect your authentic nature and desires. IMO
Why has this interview not blown up?? This mans a genius!
The more i spend watching this guy the better i feel about being alive!! Not only a fight coach but this guys is a real role model. Love you Firas your and outstanding individual!! Grest fighter Great Role model... Respect#
I'm glad to have a mentor who sharpens me into a weapon in this never ending battle for better life, but I understand where Firas Zahabi wisdom comes in fighting game, something Kevin Lee really needed.
Excellent perception of life and it's good to hear from a humble guy who knows what he is talking about
Wow! Such motivating words! Just replace 'fighting' with whatever issue you are currently facing: job loss, interview, heart break, etc. The advice is golden!
I deeply dream of training at his gym and become a fighter. Everything he says feels like he’s talking directly to me. I’ll be watching this video everyday twice a day thank you for sharing this video! 💯💪🏿
I like his outlook and is a great ambassador for combat sports
This entire killing buddha series was great. Firas is a great speaker.
He's sounding like a great guy 👏
Hes so true. It's just another day, it's just another Saturday , it's just another fight. Nothing bad is going to happen. You are going home after this and you will continue on with your life as will your opponent and everyone else 💯
+Tristar Gym
Firas Zahabi is a gem. thank you for all 6 killing buddha videos :)
Started my jiu jitsu journey in April of this year and I'm competing in my second tournament tomorrow. Thank you for this video it's really helping me with competition anxiety at the moment. I gotta remember not to put so much pressure on myself. I just want to continue to get better and no matter the outcome I'm going to push forward and strive to do just that.
comparison to others is the death of creativity and happiness but comparison to ones old self is the source of grit and determination, there is nothing wrong with being weak the problem is staying weak
We are not just a speck of life... Nore just another Saturday... Life is the most beautiful thing ever observed because of death... Peace & love.
I just found out about this guy, and I already love the way he thinks. Let's fucking get it.. HOOOAAAHHH !!!!
Great advices: you can tell which books he read by listening to this interview. Smart guy. The only thing I disagree with: real depression is a medical condition that needs treatment and support. It's not just a matter of having motivation.
Exactly. Firas has great insights to many things in life but on the matter of real medical depression he fails, but to be fair so do almost everyone who don't have first hand experience about depression and i can't blame them as, when you are mentally healthy, it's really hard to grasp how it truly is, even for someone who has been through it in the past.
Agreed
This guy is so amazing, just so intrigued with these ideas
That's some real wisdom. Stressing out and panicking doesn't allow you to push through hard things, its your body telling you to flee and hide and cower.
Makes me think about how beating kids is the opposite of discipline. The opposite of health.
Watching this as I'm gathering the courage to do my morning burpees lol
Yeah Burpees are tough but you are definitely Tougher!!!
@@Wyndamn Of course I did them!! XD Been on a tear cutting weight.
I keep playing this video over and over .. this guy can change people's lives
He has to one of the most impressive people to ever speak. Would be great to have someone like Firas to go to for advice.
I urge everyone to look up Firas’ channel and learn from him. Knowledge is power but remember to be kind to yourself as well.
Man he took the saying that goes "Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times. Good times create weak men, weak men create hard times." and put it on a more digestible level.
Strong men don't create good times lol
@@mikhailvasiliev6275 depends on what you mean by "strong".
@@itpugil I can only assume you mean what most red-pillers mean when they say "strong." Basically entitled meatheads who preach growing a spine but have egos like cheap balloons.
@@mikhailvasiliev6275 uh no, but you were predictable. I knew you were going to say that somehow. But no.
Yes. That's how it is realistically.
You're being an idealist. Time to snap to reality.
Someone should take conor to this man and keep him there for a couple of months
Real shit tho
He’s ego won’t deal with Firas
You nailed the paint 🤣👌
Love the human billionaires of history analogy, that with the reference to being a spec of dust, those two things along should be enough to calm you! Some great advice here.
A truly great mind and spirit.
I keep forgetting to subscribe to killing Buddha , I've seen it before numerous times, that chanel name is hilarious. Zahabi knows what he's talking about.
Now i know where George learnt his words of wisdom.
Sahabas r.a. used to wrestle a lot too... Brother Firas is 100% right we are spoil nowdays
Excellent. This killing Buddha series is brilliant.
Faris,
I just love your wisdom and insight man. You say with nobody else says and your level of understanding is so profound. Carry-on doing what you’re doing. You’re making the world a better place one fighter at a time.
So Much Truth In This.... Amen.
Mr Sakuraba was very relaxed. When asked about being a fighter he said it is very hard, I have won some and lost some.
"I've never seen a guy come in here everyday, having an amazing day, no set backs, and reach the top. Ive never seen it"
The music in the background is too loud and annoying but Firas is a legend and I stuck till the end for his wisdom.
I love listening to this guy!
Straight up love this guy and his honest approach. Firas for premier !!!
Golden advice absolute legendary post every person on this planet should hear
Long distance running can be placed in the spectrum of strenghtning physical and mental toughness
I respect this guy so much , he has the best advice
The way he says toughness is very tough!!
I literally think like this. Amazing!
Gratefulness & seeing the bigger picture.
Wow... well said by a wise intellectual man.
Some very good points until he said; "how many of the greatest men in the world were wrestlers?....99% of them"
+CHRIS B. Batman was a wrestler.
+CHRIS B. JOHN CENA
+CHRIS B. He's obviously exaggerating to make a point, that's all.
+CHRIS B. Even Confucius was a swordsman. Teddy Roosevelt was a hunter. Lord Byron was a soldier. Wrestlers? maybe not. Warriors? absolutely.
+Prana Khan Roosevelt boxed as well.
"Try not to make it a big deal"
My ex- GF told me that. I struggle with a lot of anxiety too.
I never forgot her words. Her loving words still ring in my head. I miss her a lot. I regretted saying the hurtful words that turned her away......
12x12surface that sounds some lyrics
Try not to make it a big deal
move on pricj
You want to fight , you fight . Fight till you've learned what fighting is . I fight best when im very happy . I love the smiley faced fighters. There is animals , crazy mofos , all types . Be you , ,be in the flow and believe how good you are in a non asshole way. Edit ... Timing is everything lol
watching this helps a lot
Firas, you are a brilliant guy & Jiu Jitsu master! I agree most people are way too soft. Having said that, there are those with real problems & suffering e.g. people seriously ill physically or mentally, or disabled, or having lost loved ones recently, etc.
This dude is wise far beyond his age.
This the fist of the many times I will listen to you Zahabi
My god this whole video is amazing EVERY word
I agreed with everything that he said except for finding a good thing in every bad thing that happens.
that's actually the best part
Running marathons and doing an IronMan thats some tough shit that most people could easily do and learn alot from. I got mentally strong with things in life thanks to that.
Issar Cerrato right 💪
F#%^* awesome 48 years young 4 stripe purple ....listen to him
Firas is a true thinker!
YODAAAAAAA this man is the definition of Wisdom
This kid will coach GSp one day and they will become a champion
GXNT PROJECT hahahahah
added to my favorites!! beautiful reminder Firas love your work!!
Holly shit
Thank you so much
You're making too much sense.
Gotta love that dude. God bless you bro❤
Persistence is not the same as or as having happiness. Some people are born in a war ridden country. Some are send to wars. Some are mentally unstable. Some lack insight. And I like to see you give another interview after switching from job to job and life to life and between health and sickness a couple of times and see if you are as persistent as you say you are. Not everyone is gifted with the right genes the right upbringing the ideal friends or insight in what it intales to be or become a full human with a full human experience or have the capability or opportunity to obtain or maintain that.
aahhh yaaa firas i see the muslim wisdom in you loved the video great reminder about kings back in the days did not have what we regular people now have a days.
I can watch these all day long ! 🤔
So much wisdom in a short time.
Firas sounds like a dope dude with his head on straight. Fight on.
It's so interesting how toughness is defined - awesome perspective! It's something I discuss in the latest video on my channel as well, & providing a blueprint for my child on how to be tough. Thank you for the content.
Thank you
What an insightful individual, great listening
Still a gem
What a cool dude
Sounds like reads stoic books, the cosmic part especially sounds like Marcus Aurelius
Very strong!
this man said the most
this guy is bless man
What a great coach
When your goal is only this worldly life, it is easy to go into depression. Study shows that Religious Persons are happier. That is because true religious people has a goal which transcend this worldly life. Aiming for the life after death is the ultimate long term goal any human could ever achieved as it is the furthest destination.
They said that the most intelligent human is the one who think and act based on the long term outcome and not easily distracted by current instant rewards or gratifications. There is a saying of Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh), that those who remember death the most frequently and those who prepare for death in the best manner are the most intelligent ones. This words of wisdom are actually very profound and logical given that it correlates to the ultimate long term goal that human could possibly achieved.
Very intelligent guy
