The first thing I noticed was with the camera on the wing, the wing was smooth as glass, no divots, rivet heads, weather damage. As I would expect new to look like, and that continued to everything you could see. The seats, and leather wrapped yoke(s) was a nice touch also. Very nice example!! Thanks for the look Rich!! Peace --gary
This is better now than when it was new and very roomy. Beautiful plane and as you said it takes time to get it to this condition. The new owner will enjoy this for sure. Thanks Rich
@@GreatNorth104It is simply common knowledge. The 421 was expensive to operate. Though this is a beautiful example of one. The right fractional contract on a Citation will cost much less than the ownership and operating costs of a C421, provided you're doing a reasonably low number of hours (I'd guess at about 50 to 150 hours a year, but there are many, many, variables).
Thanks Rich, another great video and beautiful aircraft. I'm a big fan and alway looking forward to your video's! I worked at RAM many years ago as a cert engineer and really enjoyed the 421, great plane. Thanks again!
Beautiful aircraft, the challenge is finding a buyer who can live with that logo plastered all over the interior and on the tail. The new owner is forever going to be questioned about what it means until it is repainted with a new interior.
I've been around a few 421s and 414s and gotta say -- while not crazy about the paint -- this is an awesome one. Ram engines, new Garmin glass, nice updates & options. Not quite in the market for it but wishing I was.
A&P/IA Mike Busch doesn’t like “pedigree” engines. Would you rather have low time pedigree engines or high time engines flown frequently (>150 hr/year) with clean oil filter inspection history and engine monitor data?
Hello Rich I owned a 421B and flew it 500 hours and it was great. I’m looking at getting a 421C now I’ll need some training for insurance and maybe buy one with your help. Let me know Thanks Rick
Might want to look at that upper fastener that is supposed to be holding the magnetic compass in place on the windshield. It's just dangling there about to fall out, which is why that compass is vibrating all over the place.
@FlyingwithRich yes they all shake, but if you look closely in the video, only one of the two fasteners is actually fastened. That bracket is going to fail from fatigue if left like that.
Wow rich! Beautifully plane. That’s insane it’s a 1980. I agree that 421 custom set up looks better than many with a new garmin panel and 35-40 years newer. That plane will go within hours on the market
Did you notice that the vertical card compass is about to flop loose from the center windshield mullion? Just FYI it looks like a fastener not tightened down. Also, noticed the black spinners, making me think the props may be MT? couldn't tell before startup...
The interior is beautiful like an old fashioned family room with The leather chairs. What is the Safe glide May be I missed you mentioning. Safe travels.
I am curious as to why the useful load is so high. If memory serves, this plane is able to carry about 400 pounds more than a typical 421C. How did they get the airplane in that kind of condition to carry the extra weight? Thanks!
I've driven by this airport hundreds of times and have never seen a plane moving, so I was shocked when I heard you say where you were. Thanks for putting out these videos!
Very nice plane. Only thing that bothers me is that compass mount. Seems flimsy and puts the compass at an odd angle or at least it looks that way on video. I wish I had $1million sitting around.
Those vertical card compasses are always flimsy - not exactly sure why, but I flew a Bellanca Viking a long time ago that had the same compass and I remember thinking it made compass turns so easy!
Book says about 2200' at mid weight, 65 F with 50' obstacle at 1000' Field Elevation. Obviously, you would need to be on your numbers but certainly within the capability. I would have to consider the runway, approach, slope, etc. Thanks for watching!
That’s a lot of money for an airplane where the levers on the power quadrant are so mismatched between the engines. The video thumbnail makes it look like you did an engine shutdown.
Wide variety of cost range depending on the specific airplane. Well maintained, updated airplane of which there are many, operating/maintenance costs are in line with newer aircraft in similar performance category. In my opinion an updated 421C under $1M is a lot of value based on other airplanes.
Any 421 is for sale because the owner finally figured out they're underpowered, overly complicated, geared, overpressurized pistons, rube exhaust system, absolute junk. Either you have excess cash or stupidity. Buy just under, or go up to turbine.
@GreatNorth104 I've flown em. I've worked on em More importantly, I recovered, hauled, and salvaged. Those gears on top of the case with overpressurized cylinders are tragedies, loss, and heartache waiting for fate. Good luck.
@takeheed7777Wiffle-ti2hh share some videos of your experience with the GTSIOs, we'd love to see em...Every single person I know who has owned them, and has a decent IQ pilot flying them, has nothing bad to say. And the color is beautiful too!

Can't get more complicated and expensive piston engines than a high displacement geared turbo charged piston engines to maintain and overhaul.

I like the paint effect. Gives a real vintage look. It's a super plane.
I really like the solid color with no stripes!
@@FlyingwithRich I see the appeal, but to me the plane looks stubby.

421 again. You’re a great man Mr. Rich. I love this aircraft. You made me see this bird many many times 😁
Thank you!
Another great video Rich. It still amazes me how many different make and models airplane you fly so proficiently.
Man, that thing looks clean!! By the way, thanks for the great content.
Very clean for sure - thank you for watching!
It’s awesome to see such a high quality restoration. Better than new! In the top 5 of the best 421s I’ve ever seen.

"Good Pedigree engines"......I like that statement. Solid description. Great video

Beautiful aircraft! Wow, that panel! Enjoyed the video. I have time in a C-404 with those same monster engines. I really like your new logo too.😎
Oh wow I thought I recognized that plane! I have time in 200BN! What an amazing airplane!
The golden eagle is my favorite bird of prey and my favorite twin. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Man, that panel is ridiculous! I’m not sure about the paint scheme, but definitely the attention to detail is pretty awesome!
It is definitely a special airplane - thanks for watching!
The paint made me think it just just dirty, definitely would choose a different color
@RusscanFLY paint reminds me of the desert storm color
Great Review Rich... Had I WON last Night MEGA MILLIONS N200BN would have been mine Sir!
I can't think of a better way to spend some money!
i did have the mega ball but that was all
oberhauled/restored 421/414s are just a dream ❤
Just wanted to drop a line Rich. Not sure where if you call Cali hime, but I hope you and your family are safe from those fires! Take care!

Nice plane. I think it looks kind of military with that external paint, its the only thing that I would change. Thanks for the ride and review.

Gross weights on 421s went up over the years and VGs increase GTOW, often with interior strip and paint and avionics upgrades airplanes get lighter.
@@FlyingwithRich Makes sense, thank you! BTW, I really enjoy your videos, keep up the great work!
Thank you!

Looks like they removed all the rear cabinetry as well.
welcome to Illinois Rich!

How many aircraft are you qualified to fly? I'm thinking 1,000

Do you know what model that smaller Garmin pfd is? Is it newer? I have never seen it before
I think TXI just 7" vs 10.6". Thanks for watching!
@FlyingwithRich thanks!
A new Beech Baron costs about $1.5 mill new so imagine what a new C421C would cost new if produced.
I’d say $1.5 is closer to a new Bonanza than a new Baron.

What’s the significance of that tree symbol? Interesting
Given it is corporate owned, maybe a company logo?
Correct - The Whitetail Group - very company!
Whitetail Group, as classy an operation as the plane.

Not feeling the exterior color on that 421..😕
But the interior is sick.. 👍 Golden Eagle up to modern standards with the attention to detail

New paint job and engine, maybe 500K today.
Missing MT 4 blade quiet props , but awesome bird

That panel cost a pretty penny someone put a ton of cash in this nice plane and they’re never going to get it out. Someone is going to get a bargain.
